Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 530: Chapter 531: Preparing to Crack Down Hard

”It’s nothing much, I just wanted to let you know that if you have time, go visit Chu Liang in the hospital. Ask him to give me a call when he can, I’ve got some progress on the stuff he asked me to sell.”

”Okay, okay, okay, I’ll go check on the captain first!” Zhao Xin said and with a click, hung up the phone and hurried off towards the training ground.

However, when he got there, he found it completely deserted.

The training ground was empty except for a bleak white incandescent light, cold and clear.

”Huh, where is everyone? Where’s the captain?”

Just now so many people had rushed over to see what was happening, how come there’s not a single person now?

Zhao Xin refused to give up and searched all around, but indeed there was no one.

He then ran back to the auditorium and to his surprise, found everyone had returned, and what’s more, the girls from the performance troupe had started their show on stage once again.

Zhao Xin crouched down, found Dai Gang and the others, and hurried over, asking in a low voice, ”What happened? Where’s our captain? Where’s Miss Xiao Du?”

”Miss Xiao Du went to her dormitory with Doctor Liu!” Dai Gang said, ”Captain Meng has disappeared!”

”Disappeared? What do you mean?”

”It’s that Gao Wei ran to the training ground and didn’t see the captain at all! So, people are off looking for him! And Gao Wei is claiming that our captain got scared and is hiding!”

”Bullshit, would our captain get scared?” Zhao Xin got angry.

”We think he’s talking nonsense, too, but right now he’s busy searching the whole camp for the captain.”

Gong Xinhe spoke softly, ”Do you guys think, the captain might have gone to get something?” As he said this, he thought about how when Meng Xinian first became captain, some of the old squad members didn’t respect him and started trouble by urinating on his bed. The next day, the old squad members found themselves jumping into a mud pit during training, only to discover the water had been replaced with urine, giving them an unintended urine bath.

So it’s said that Tyrant Meng is rather devious at heart.

Could it really be that he went to prepare something to give Gao Wei a harsh lesson?

Zhao Xin thought, if the captain really was willing to go to such lengths, then it seemed he did hold Miss Xiao Du dear in his heart after all!

Chiang Xiao would hopefully not be too upset upon learning of this.

But as for Hu Xibing, who had just hung up the phone, he’d left the militia company and was walking along a street with no streetlights. It was already 8 o’clock in the evening and the night was dim, with only the sporadic lights shining from a few stores.

Occasionally, he saw a few people who’d moved their stools outside their doors, fanning themselves in the cooler evening air.

Hu Xibing had been feeling conflicted the whole way.

To tell Chiang Xiao about this or not? To tell, or not to tell?

If he didn’t tell her, and Chiang Xiao wasn’t mentally prepared, what if she couldn’t accept it and ended up very upset?

To tell? With Captain Meng’s situation still unclear and without his consent, if he let the news out, a minor issue might end up causing serious trouble that couldn’t be easily fixed. What then?

Hu Xibing felt as though his indecision was making him lose his hair.

He lingered near Osmanthus Alley for a long time before finally turning and leaving.

Wait a bit longer, see if Captain Meng calls Chiang Xiao about this tomorrow or maybe writes her a letter.

In Osmanthus Alley, after listening to the miserable affairs spilled by Grandma Ge and that woman for a long time, Chiang Xiao began to feel dizzy and sleepy.

The situation was indeed quite miserable.

The word was that the woman was a troublemaker. After moving into the Ge Family home, she hadn’t taken many days before she hooked up with an old man in the vicinity whose wife had died.
