Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 491: Chapter 492 His Half Fortune

Chiang Songhai sipped his tea without speaking, giving Chiang Xiao a look; his lips moved slightly.

Even Xu Linjiang said, ”Little, this risk is indeed a bit too great.”

The main problem was the difficulty in managing the stock; if they did it well but couldn’t sell it within two or three days, wouldn’t that mean a total loss? If the cost were low, spoiling some would be fine, but the cost of these confections was so high that even one spoiling would equal several dollars lost—what could they do then?

No matter how Chiang Xiao explained it, some people just couldn’t believe that there were really rich people willing to spend such money on these expensive items.

Without sufficient vision, how could they have adequate understanding?

It was Chiang Xiao’s first time failing to persuade them, leaving her somewhat frustrated. That evening, she couldn’t help but take out some stationery and write a letter to Meng Xinian.

After all, Meng Xinian was from Capital City, and besides, he had always lived in the provincial capital; she wanted to know his opinion.

Four days later, she received a reply from Meng Xinian.

To her surprise, Meng Xinian told her that if she truly believed the confections were delicious, then she should go ahead with confidence, and if they couldn’t be sold, he would help her find a market. He also complimented her, saying she was very insightful; in Capital City and provincial cities, there were plenty of wealthy families. A piece of pastry costing a few dollars was definitely affordable to them. However, if they were going to do this business, they should ideally move to the provincial capital because if they stayed in Peace Town and then transported the goods to the provincial city, they risked losing time, and the transportation costs would also be high.

Lastly, Meng Xinian mentioned that when he sent the letter, he also took the opportunity to wire her some money to act as startup capital for her tea shop business.

”I’ve wired half of my fortune to you; if it earns, it’s yours, if it loses, it’s mine. Don’t worry,” he wrote.

Chiang Xiao held the letter tightly, experiencing once again Tyrant Meng’s CEO style.

This kind of action could also be considered a tyrannical move—she hadn’t asked for his money, and he had wired half of his wealth without a second thought, without considering whether she wanted to accept it or if it would cause her psychological pressure!

But why was there a little bit of delight stirring inside her?

The next day, she indeed received the remittance receipt, and when she saw the amount, Chiang Xiao gasped for air.

She quickly stuffed the receipt into her bag and clutched it tight.

My God!

She had never seen so much money in her life!

Tyrant Meng had actually wired her five thousand yuan! Five thousand! Five thousand!

In the eighties, a remittance of five thousand could scare someone to death!

Hu Xibing, seeing her reaction, knew she had been frightened. Even he was frightened, okay? Because the name on the remittance receipt was his.

Meng Xinian was very thoughtful when it came to matters concerning Chiang Xiao. Considering her young age, wiring money directly to her might not be very convenient, and besides, a receipt for five thousand would certainly attract attention; if postal workers inadvertently let it slip, it wouldn’t be safe for Chiang Xiao.

So, he had telegraphed Hu Xibing in advance, briefed him on the situation, and asked him to receive the money on her behalf.

That’s why the remittance receipt came from Hu Xibing to Chiang Xiao after he collected it.

”Sister-in-law,” he cleared his throat and said, ”Whenever you want to withdraw this money, I will go with you.”

”Oh, oh!” Chiang Xiao quickly nodded, ”Let’s go withdraw it now then!”

She felt that it would be safest to place it in the Space once she had withdrawn it.

In a time when even ten-thousand-yuan households were rare, how on earth had Meng Xinian saved up five thousand yuan? And he even said it was only half of his fortune?
