Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 454: Chapter 454: Well Drawn

Being publicly called out like that, no sign of anger could be seen in his face.

At this point, the scholar also seemed somewhat embarrassed, but it was clear that he was not the type to easily soften his attitude and apologize. He just stiffly said ”fine” and led the way out.

As he left, the others also took their leave one after another.

The room suddenly quieted down.

Because of this, Chiang Xiao took the opportunity to not answer Meng Xinian’s question, and both of them looked towards Kuang Yunxian.

Seeing them sitting close and looking at him like this, Kuang Yunxian felt inexplicably that their gazes and expressions at that moment bore some resemblance to each other.

Because of this similarity, he immediately guessed that Chiang Xiao might be a child from some relative’s family of the Meng Family.

”Finally, a quiet moment. How are you guys? Are you feeling bored?” Kuang Yunxian approached and sat down on a chair next to them.

These two had just moved back and sat side by side on the edge of the bed.

Because Chiang Xiao was still young, the scene didn’t carry any hint of ambiguity.

”It’s not boredom,” Meng Xinian shook his head and asked, ”What’s going on?”

He hadn’t taken this matter to heart before, since the ruined painting had nothing to do with him. But having heard the scholar’s last words, it seemed like Kuang Yunxian would ultimately be responsible, and his expression grew grave.

Kuang Yunxian’s family situation was also known to him, and it wasn’t easy.

If he had made a mistake, he likely had some trouble to face.

Being from Capital City and in the same circle, they all knew each other’s family affairs all too well.

Kuang Yunxian glanced at Chiang Xiao, saw that she was also looking at him with her bright, sparkling eyes, showing no impatience, and then he let out a bitter laugh and said, ”The current situation is good. All sectors are showing enthusiasm for revitalization and blossoming success, and the art world is no exception. Too many good paintings were destroyed those years, and too many painters were oppressed, so, to encourage the artists’ passion for creation and to give them confidence in development, we established the M City Artists Association. To make a mark, we spared no effort and held the first G Province Art Competition. The prize included Ye Qiuyun’s ’Autumn Scenery Painting’ replica, and of course, there was a cash prize too.”

He paused, noticing that Chiang Xiao seemed to be listening with great interest and could not help but wonder, ”Chiang Xiao, are you interested in this as well?”

Uh...

Meng Xinian, fearing she would say too much nonsense, answered for her directly, ”She’s interested in painting, and she’s not bad at it.”

Well, as for what constitutes ’not bad,’ one could leave that to their imagination.

In fact, seeing her age, when Meng Xinian claimed that she painted well, in Kuang Yunxian’s mind, it meant she was good among children of her age group.

Even so, he was quite surprised. ”I didn’t expect Chiang Xiao to be a little painter.”

There was a slight tone of patronizing praise in his words.

Chiang Xiao smiled, ”You flatter me, Brother Kuang. Did many people participate in this competition?”

”The number of participants was quite beyond our expectations. We initially thought that having a dozen participants would be good, but to our surprise, G Province is full of talent. We’ve already received twenty-seven artworks, and with ten days left until our deadline, we expect the number will increase.”

”So many participants,” Chiang Xiao was also somewhat surprised.
