Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 195: Chapter 195 It’s Actually a Misunderstanding

Meng Xinian said, ”Yes, wasn’t I supposed to convey my thanks through you? I’ve changed my mind now. You go directly to her home with the stuff tomorrow, and oh, put a note in the bag, leave our camp’s address and phone number for her.”

”Captain, it’s so far away, Sister-in-law probably won’t come up to the provincial city to find us. Besides, aren’t you still in the Capital City?”

”I’m going back tomorrow!”

As Meng Xinian spoke, he hung up the phone with a snap.

He turned and went straight to the attending doctor’s office, declaring that he wanted to be discharged.

But his injury was severe, how could he possibly leave the hospital after just two days?

The doctor’s face darkened, and he firmly disagreed.

Meng Xinian’s face turned even darker, and he turned and went upstairs.

These past two days, Li Hanzhong had found time to come to the hospital to keep Jiang Yingqiong company. Fortunately, her recovery was swift; aside from her forehead, she had no other injuries and was almost ready for discharge.

Seeing Meng Xinian approach, the couple was somewhat surprised.

Last time, because they kept asking about the young girl from the Peace Town mission, Meng Xinian obviously tried to avoid them. Even in the hospital room, he often pretended to be sleepy, so him taking the initiative to seek them out was indeed rare.

Li Hanzhong and Jiang Yingqiong noted his ramrod straight back, sharp gaze, tightly pressed thin lips, and the hint of anger in his demeanor, which left them slightly astonished.

It was usually others who found themselves infuriated by him; when had it become his turn to be annoyed by someone else?

”Xinian, why don’t you rest more?” Jiang Yingqiong used to know his mother, and she treated him as if he were her own nephew. If it weren’t for the fact that Meng Xinian had left the Capital City after that event years ago and thrown himself into the military, leaving them with only a handful of encounters over the years, they might have been as close as mother and son.

”My injury is nothing serious now, Chief, could you please speak to the hospital and let me be discharged tomorrow? I need to head back to the G Province Alliance.”

Discharged?

Li Hanzhong’s brow furrowed, and he spoke sternly, ”Nonsense! With such a serious injury, do you still intend to cram into a train and rush back to G Province?”

”This little injury is nothing. There’s a situation at the team, and I must go back,” Meng Xinian said earnestly, in all seriousness, ”Once back, I will go to the hospital regularly for dressing changes. I can’t go on missions for the time being, so it won’t affect my recovery.”

”What’s so urgent that you need to rush back with injuries?” Li Hanzhong said with a stern face: ”You should stay at least three more days!”

”One day!” Meng Xinian bargained, yet he still looked utterly serious, upright and imposing, ”The day after tomorrow, I will proceed with the discharge, please grant me the Chief Alliance Officer’s approval!”

Seeing his determination, Li Hanzhong knew he was set on leaving.

The kid had always been headstrong since he was young, and if he didn’t agree, Meng Xinian might just sneak off in the night. He waved his hand weakly, ”Go away, go away.”

If he wanted to leave, let him. At most, Li Hanzhong could ask Yang Zhiqi to have someone keep a closer watch on him, ensuring he went to the hospital for check-ups and dressing changes on time.

What Li Hanzhong didn’t know at this moment was that after returning to G Province, Meng Xinian didn’t head back to his Alliance team at all. Instead, he went straight to Peace Town to settle scores with a certain individual.

Meng Xinian returned to his hospital room and absentmindedly picked up the newspaper he had been reading halfway through before, catching sight of that report again.

His eyes shimmered. When he had previously read about the Female Supervisor Guard in the performance troupe, the image that came to his mind was that of the girl. He couldn’t help but think, if the mission had involved the singing, dancing, gentle Female Supervisor Guard described in the newspaper, what would the outcome have been?

After some thought, he was still satisfied with the girl’s performance, so much so that he unconsciously smiled.

As for the Female Supervisor Guard mentioned in the newspaper, who knows what she looked like.
