Moonfire Bride: The One they all betrayed...till she awakened

”What is it this time?!”

He was still trying so hard not to think about it. If this wasn’t his room, he would have turned on his heels and been out of here minutes ago.

He looked at her face, which was slowly colouring a pink shade, despite how hard she tried to keep it from showing. He looked at how her lips trembled deliriously, and how she quickly hit down on it, trying to stop it from moving another inch.

And he also realised that the longer she stayed, and the longer he stared, the faster he was digging his own grave.

There was only so much he could take.

”You know what?” He seethed, eyes now fixed on the window with dark eyes like nothing could move his soul, ”I think I’ve had enough of you today. Get out of my chambers, sister,”

Yes

Keep calling her sister.

Remind yourself of who she is and where she stands in your life at this moment. Do not cross any more lines than you already have.

Selene looked up at her, a little stunned at his sudden...outburst. His voice had taken a new, darkened edge, and she didn’t know where it was coming from.

Her lips parted to say something, but he beat her.

”OUT!”

She almost flinched from the weight and strength his voice carried. A command from her Alpha was one she could not go against, but at the same time it only made the ache between her legs worse.

Slowly, she turned around and started to walk toward the door. It’s a good thing he didn’t smell her arousal yet, or else he’d probably be lecturing her right now that she should figure it out herself.

The whole scene of him fingering her raw till strs were exploding at the back of her head would probably never repeat itself.

As he had promised.

But then, a nagging question made her stop before she could open the door.

Her hands hung mid-air, battling on whether to just shove it out and walk away, or turn around and confront him.

The latter won.

”Why did you...touch me that day at the brothel?” Even as she said it, her voice was shaking from anxiety.

She was extremely nervous and watched him.

His back faced her. He didn’t even react.

”There were other ways you could have...passed the message,” She hit her lips hard, hating herself for still standing there. Right now, she sounded so desperate that she couldn’t even recognise her own voice! ”Why did you choose...to touch me?!”

Cassian’s eyes fell close for a moment.

Why didn’t she just leave?! Why was she still here, asking him questions that were immensely testing his self-restraint? She didn’t even know half of what she was doing to him right now.

”Because...,” He didn’t turn around, keeping his voice unapologetic and cold, ”I can,”

One of Selene’s eyes twitched.

That was his answer?! Because he could?!

He had pressed her against him and the wall, flooded her senses with his heat and scent and masculinity, forced his fingers deep into her core and left her shuddering on the floor... simply because he could? To his own sister...

That brought rage to her veins. Rage that she couldn’t control.

Before she could hold herself back, Selene was stalking back in his direction. She walked like a woman with purpose, with zero hesitation in her eyes.

Cassin turned around just in time to see his stepsister covering the distance between them, her brown eyes turned even deeper than the colour of wood.

”I’m also doing this because I can,” She replied, her voice weirdly hoarse right before she stood on the tip of her toes, her palm falling on the back of his head and pulling his head down to meet hers.

Cassian reacted quickly, placing a finger between the inch left before their lips touched. They were basically kissing his finger right now, their faces so close that his Adam’s apple bobbed up and down nervously.

”What do you think you’re doing?!” He asked.

”Exactly what I want! Because I can,” Her eyes blazed, ”You can’t just...do that to me and think you can just walk away. The minute you touched me, you crossed every line that made us related. And now...I want you, Cassian,”

His eyes widened even more.

What...did she just say?!

”You’re out of your mind!” He snarled and tried to pull away from her face, but her grip tightened, pulling him back.

It’s not like he could not have easily shaken her off, but her confidence and bravery were intriguing. Selene was always the type that went after what she wanted, using whatever means till she achieved it.

Seems like he has just become one of those things she wanted to achieve.

”If you turn around and leave right now, I’m going to pretend we never had this conversation,” He said, still keeping his eyes completely emotionless.

If this woman managed to get an inkling, or get to understand that he might just be as obsessed with her as she was with Malachi, then it would be game over for him.

She would start to openly manipulate him, and he would be a sucker for it all.

Selene contemplated the option he’d just given her. She could stop all this forbidden nonsense, and still walk out of this room with her full dignity intact. Or she could push this further, despite the raw, uninterested look in his eyes, and see if she could shift this... tense air between them into something hotter.

”Cassian,” She breathed, not letting him go.

”Selene,” He tried to pull away again, but she leaned closer all of a sudden, forcing him to keep his fingers between their lips.

If those lips ever touched his, he wasn’t sure what was going to happen. But he was sure of something — all hell would break loose.

And neither he nor Selene would ever be the same again.

Slowly. Finally. She retracted her hand away from his body.

It slipped down her neck, till it fell on her sides.

Then, she took two steps back.

Looks like she had rethought it and chosen the former this time.

Her eyes were blank with expressions, but her fists were hot with cracking and clenching bones and muscles.

”I don’t know what came over me,” She uttered under her breath, then she went down to a very low bow.

Her hair slid down the front of her neck, and the cloak clung to her back and waist, outlining the shape of her butt and curves that had him biting back a groan.

He quickly looked away.

She looked back up, and when she saw him staring somewhere else, her pride and dignity took the hit completely.

Without another word, she turned around and walked out of his room.
