Beastmaster of the Ages

This was the plan Chi Hun had carefully engineered. Where had it gone so wrong!

“Rex Mundi, our vanguard’s suffered eighty-one thousand deaths and over three hundred thousand injuries. Eleven thousand of those are on their deathbed from their injuries. As for our warbeasts, if we don’t count those we lured over here, we lost a million….”

To the three hundred million Dongshen clansmen, those numbers were minor. However, for the ebons, those that could enlist in their army were much more valuable than the ordinary people of the Dongshen Clan. Most importantly, they had likely been unable to bring any Dongshen clansmen with them to the afterlife.

“Figure out why the bastards’ guardian formation could become so much more powerful,” an elder next to Chi Hun said with a raspy voice.

“According to an inside informant, the ancient relic they seized is called the Mount Taia Quintessence. Dongshen Yang used his blood to awaken it before merging it into the guardian formation’s core. They gathered the defensive power of the entire mountain, which is how they managed to withstand us!”

Chi Hun had used three thousand ebons to entrap Dongshen Zhuojun. And now, another eighty-thousand-plus had been added to that tally. It could be said that, individually, the life of an ebon was the most valuable life on Ebonia. Three hundred million Dongshen Clansmen weren’t worth a hundred thousand ebons. Most aggravating of all was that it was Chi Hun who had personally gifted them the Mount Taia Quintessence!

Just now, before the action had begun, Chi Hun and his gang had all been grinning from ear to ear. But now they just wanted to hide themselves away; Chi Hun had never failed so spectacularly in his life.

“If that’s true, Rex Mundi, it isn’t your fault. No one could’ve imagined that that ancient relic would be such an item.”

“It was an oversight. We didn’t understand the legends of Mount Taia.”

“The strategy today wasn’t the problem, the problem was our lack of knowledge.”

All of the ebon experts tried to ‘console’ Chi Hun. When the truth got out, his illustrious reputation would forever be in the gutter.

And that was even worse than all of their losses.

Step one, kill three thousand of your clansmen for the trap. Step two, hand over the ancient relic. Step three, get another eighty thousand of your men killed. Step four... profit?

The Nethersoul was dead silent. Chi Hun looked calm, but everyone knew he was going mad inside. He suddenly laughed and broke the silence. “Gentlemen, don’t be anxious. This is actually good for us.”

Everyone was dumbfounded.

The silver-haired man clasped his hands behind his back and gazed down at the bloodsoaked battlefield. “We may have looked bad if we wiped out a clan over a mere three thousand dead ebons. It might lose us public trust. But now, with more dead, our enmity with the Dongshen Clan is irresolvable. If we wipe them out now and take over Mount Taia, I dare say no one in the mundus will accuse us of being tyrannical. Don’t you all agree?”

Everyone was stunned for a moment, then started applauding.

“Yes, there weren’t even many cosmic gods that died. It was worth it!”

“Excellent!”

“Well said, Rex Mundi! We now have ironclad evidence and Ebonia will sympathize with us.”

Chi Hun was pleased to hear that.

As the Nethersoul grew livelier, Chi Hun ordered, “Silence. Pass down my orders: the ground troops will retreat, and the underground wildbeasts will gather. We’ll deploy another eight ether-class astralships and five hundred thousand astral gods.”

“Yes!”

The death toll was embarrassing, but it wasn’t much to such a huge clan. The ten astralships and five hundred thousand astral gods they were planning to use was actually a combat force on par with the Swordgod Lin Clan.

“Their turtle shell is tough, but we can just keep pummeling it with a barrage from astralships.”

“Even a high-sanctuary-class guardian formation will be destroyed sooner or later. And this one clearly isn’t on that level.”

“Before, we had to end it before the Infinitum Bodhimanda interfered. But now let’s see who dares to stop us! We’ll just blast away for half a month if we have to!”

“We’ve hidden our fangs for fifty years. It’s time to show them once more.”

“Rex Mundi, get the relief troops to hurry up. Today was indeed humiliating. Let’s turn this Mount Taia into hell on earth.”

Chi Hun nodded.

“Relax. Us ebons conquered the entire Infinitum Mundus once, what less some mountain that can’t even speak?” Chi Hun’s power and reserves gave him confidence. He looked down at the battlefield that was now a mess of corpses. “A few more days and the Dongshen Clan will cease to exist.”

The rest of the experts around him grinned.
