Beastmaster of the Ages

Five days later, news that Lin Feng of the second branch had obtained the Grandvoid Swordfiend and Unisword Goddess’ grade two legacies at the speed of light caused another sensation in the Infinitum Swordsea. Two grade two legacies! That was two extremely challenging sword barriers. For the Lin disciples, only by comprehending the sword intent within could one break a sword barrier and finally obtain the true meaning of a legacy. There had been others who obtained the grade two legacy from one of the two reges mundi, but they’d taken almost the maximum amount of time to break the sword barrier before the stele disappeared.

”Comprehending two grade two sword intents in four days?”

”He’s the god of swords! He must’ve been born for the sword dao.”

”Yet he doesn’t have a swordheart.”

”This makes me wonder if our swordheart really is the key to sword cultivation....”

”The point is, he’s inherited both time and space legacies! It’s almost like the reincarnation of the two reges mundi combined.”

”God no! Do you mean to say that our second branch master is both man and woman?”

”Hahaha!”

Laughter filled the Infinitum Swordsea; many were proud and happy for Tianming. After acknowledging him, the Lin disciples felt much better because they could now brag about his glorious achievements as much as they liked. Their words and demeanor were full of pride. Thus, he soon realized that his Omnisentient Threads had increased after receiving the grade two legacies of the two reges mundi.

”It’s only two or three thousand, which is just a drop in the bucket and useless for the time being—but it’s a spark!” He felt good. While the Infinitum Swordsea was filled with lively discussion about him, Tianming returned to the Phantavoid with his elders.

”Two great sword arts! What a harvest!”

The sword intent of the Grandvoid Swordfiend’s Flowerfall Flow seemed poetic. But in fact, after contemplating, Tianming discovered that it was a lethal move developed from the profound mystery of time. The wonders of the sword lay in reversing the flow of time, producing a sort of repeated playback. Power was layered into each move to achieve a burst of lethality many times more powerful. Through that repeated playback, fourfold power was the limit of the attack.

Of course, it was difficult to the point of frightening. At the moment, he wasn’t sure if he could master it. However, the second phase of Xiaozhi Sword Art was even more confusing to him. Because he wasn’t proficient in space-time sword intent, he had to rely on Feiling’s Perpetia. So before reuniting with her, he understood nothing, not even superficially.

”I can only surmise that the strike possesses powerful control.” In any case, there was no need for him to return to the dangerous Swordsoul Purgatory before mastering the two new attacks.

After returning to the Phantavoid, Tianming managed to compose himself. Lin Xiao and the others had already recovered from their shock and were now discussing Tianxi and the alien monster.

”They have yet to make a move. They can certainly keep their cool.” Lin Changkong frowned. He was courageous and hoped that they would appear. In his opinion, he could at least force Tianxi to show himself, despite being unable to actually defeat him or the alien monster. Once Tianxi appeared, they could report it to the rex mundi and censure him. There would be less pressure on them after dealing with one of the threats.

”The Phantavoid, the four of us by his side, as well as what happened to Chi Hun last time has made them realize that it won’t be easy for them to take Feng’er, even if he’s alone. That’s why they’re afraid to take risks.”

Lin Xiao shook his head; he knew that the enemy’s calm meant more trouble. Tianming had the best protection. Unless the alien monster couldn’t wait any longer, the possibility of Tianxi showing up was relatively low. His current situation was caused by Yin Chen’s discovery of him.

”There’s no rushing things. As it happens, we have nothing on our plates at the moment. We’ll accompany Lin Feng as he cultivates so that he can become a true astral god as soon as possible. He won’t be as easy to kill, then, and we’ll have more room for error,” the long-haired, white-robed Lin Chongyao said as he operated the Phantavoid.

”Yes, we’ll take it easy. It’s those two bastards who worry me.” Lin Xiong grinned.

Tianming listened to their conversation, staring at the world outside the astralship.

”By the way….” Tianming suddenly recalled something. Turning around, he said, ”I previously encountered a bloodline hairfiend with the mark of the ebons in the Swordsoul Purgatory. That mark is a seal on the soul created by their soul eyes, isn’t it? It means that the bloodline hairfiend is a warbeast of the ebons. So how’d it sneak into the Swordsoul Purgatory?” It was only after Tianming had fought the ebons in the Oldgod Domain that he learned that the character on the bloodline hairfiend was a mark left by their soul eyes.

”Yes, it was an ebon warbeast,” Lin Changkong said.

”Do you know about this?” Tianming asked.

”Yes, numerous warbeasts have recently gone through the formation and entered the Swordsoul Purgatory. The number of nova wildbeasts wandering outside the Swordsoul Purgatory have increased to more than ten times what it was before. Most of them were driven there by the warbeasts of the ebons,” Lin Changkong explained.

”Then why don’t we keep them out?” Tianming asked.

”We can’t. The world down under is dominated by the ebons, and there’s simply too many wildbeasts that were controlled and then abandoned by them. Abandoned warbeasts still have the mark of the ebons on their bodies, so we have no way to prove that they were still being controlled,” said Lin Changkong.

”What’re they trying to do?” Tianming asked with a frown.

”Show their strength! In fact, the increase in warbeasts in the Swordsoul Purgatory began many years ago, which shows that the ebons have long harbored ill intentions toward the Swordgod Lin Clan. Did you really think that Lin Jie and those people were the ones to initiate the alliance? The ebons put a knife to our necks first, and they were the ones who knelt down.” Lin Xiong sounded very upset.

”The world down under belongs to them. The number of beasts they can control are endless. They’re the most terrifying army on Ebonia. And the worst part of it all is that they use the brutal nature of wildbeasts to shirk all responsibility. If the infinite beastmasters don’t actually do anything, they won’t admit to any damage caused by the wildbeasts. There’s nothing anyone can do about it. Both the Swordsoul Purgatory and the Grandnorth Dongshen Clan’s underground world are filled with the roaring of trillions of wildbeasts that cause earthquakes and tsunamis, yet all of it’s isolated by the wildbeasts. You just can’t hear it…” Lin Xiao sighed.

Throwing their weight around? No! It was the privilege that belonged to the strong. The rules of the Infinitum Bodhimanda were special. The Infinitum Bodhimanda was supported by countless clans in Ebonia that worked together to create a stable world with order, bringing peace to the entire mundus. Others were afraid to provoke the Infinitum Mundus because of its strength and glory; however, the most powerful clan that was forced to contribute the most would naturally be dissatisfied with such a power structure, because they should have been able to obtain more, dominate the world, and have all clans bow down to them, not stick to the same rules like any small clan as they did now.

In the past, the position of rex mundi had belonged to the ebons for a long time. During that period, the world was indeed unified and the greatest force in the Infinitum Bodhimanda had no complaints because they towered above everyone else. But now, the rex mundi was someone they considered a little girl. The luxdaemons behind Yi Daiyan were so weak they couldn’t compare to the ebons. With the decline of the position and resources they had enjoyed for so long, there would eventually be people who grew dissatisfied with the Infinitum Bodhimanda’s rules. Thus, Tianming knew just how restless the ebons were. The wildbeasts roaring in the world down under was the true depiction of their mental state.
