Who Let Him Play Yugioh? (Re-Upload)

”Alright! The most anticipated match of the WRGP preliminaries has finally reached its climax! Director Kira continues his miraculous streak, breaking through two opponents and now standing before Halldor, the final runner of the Team Ragnarok!”

The airplane-head commentator continued hyping up the atmosphere as Halldor arrived at the track.

”Can Halldor secure victory for his team? Or will Director Kira continue to write his legend in the WRGP!?”

Halldor had already reached the track. He spoke in a deep voice, ”Fujiki Kira, you are truly a man who exceeds expectations. To be able to fight this far against gods… No, you even suppressed my teammates. You really are a terrifying guy.”

”You flatter me,” Kira smiled modestly.

”But it ends here. Now that I have arrived, this should all come to a close,” Halldor said. ”Let’s settle this, Fujiki Kira! Is it your Meklord Emperor, or our Lord of the Aesir!”

”Duel!” ×2

[Kira, LP 3800]

[Halldor, LP 4000]

”Because Broder was just defeated and the turn has ended, it is now my turn,” Halldor declared. ”My turn, draw!”

Halldor glanced at the drawn card and immediately played it. ”I Normal Summon ’Valkyrie of the Nordic Ascendant’!”

A beautiful and lovely Valkyrie appeared. Snow-white angel wings spread behind her as pure white feathers scattered through the air. It seemed as if holy light was descending from the sky to envelop her.

[Valkyrie of the Nordic Ascendant, ATK 400]

”Valkyrie of the Nordic Ascendant, effect activate.” Halldor smiled lightly. ”When this card is successfully summoned, send two cards from your hand to the Graveyard and Special Summon two ’Einherjar Tokens’ to your field.”

Two cards were sent to the Graveyard.

”Special Summon Einherjar Tokens!”

[Einherjar Token, ATK 1000] ×2

This monster was Halldor’s key Tuner. In the anime, it could directly bring out a Aesir with one card. However, its ability was greatly nerfed in the real card version.

”Level 2 Tuner Monster ’Valkyrie of the Nordic Ascendant’. Level 4 ’Einherjar Token’ ×2. Tuning!”

[2 + 4 + 4 = 10]

”O Emperor who governs omniscience and omnipotence in the northern skies! Now display your majesty to the gods who rule the Cosmic Realms! Synchro Summon! The supreme god who rules over the gods of heaven and earth—Odin, Father of the Aesir!”

A golden rift suddenly tore open in the sky. Holy golden light pierced through the clouds. Accompanied by the sound of horns from Valhalla, a one-eyed elder clad in a scarlet divine robe descended along the rainbow bridge. His snow-white beard was like a frozen waterfall, every strand glowing with sacred light. The left eye sealed by a golden ring constantly seeped liquid golden light, forming glowing divine patterns along the wrinkles on his cheek.

Odin heavily planted his legendary divine spear Gungnir into the ground. The moment the spear tip touched the earth, a ring-shaped golden ripple burst forth. When he raised the holy spear and pointed it at the battlefield, the clouds across the entire sky began to rotate around the spear tip. Lightning brewed within the swirling clouds into a massive totem.

Odin, Father of the Aesir—summoned!

[Odin, Father of the Aesir, ATK 4000]

Odin, Thor, and Loki—the three great Norse Lord of the Aesir had finally gathered!

”Truly powerful. The three Norse gods have descended together,” Kira smiled. ”Odin’s effect seems to grant the gods absolute resistance, right? In that case, all three gods will gain an enhancement. It’s getting more and more troublesome.”

”Oh? You actually know quite a lot, even about my Odin, Father of the Aesir’s power.”

Halldor narrowed his eyes.

”And the reason you said that is to lure me into activating Odin’s effect, correct?”

Kira: ”Oh? Why would I do that?”

”Because of this set card Broder left for me—the one that didn’t get the chance to activate last turn because your Meklord Emperor Skiel launched a direct attack.”

Halldor analyzed.

”Trap Card ’Nordic Relic Megingjord’. This card can double the ATK of a Polar Star or Aesir monster on your field. If I use this trap on Odin, its ATK will become 8000. As long as Odin destroys your Meklord Emperor Skiel, one strike would be enough to finish you off—your defeat.

However, if I activate Odin’s effect, this turn the three Lord of the Aesir will not be affected by any Spell, Trap, or monster effects—including my own trap. In that case, even if Odin destroys Skiel, it won’t be an OTK, and you still have another set monster on your field…”

He glanced at the other face-down monster on Kira’s field.

”If I’m not mistaken, that set monster probably hides some defensive or even counter-attack flip effect, right?”

”I see. So you think I was trying to lure you into attacking this flip monster. That’s your conclusion?” Kira chuckled lightly. ”But let me remind you. If you attack without activating Odin’s effect, your gods won’t have that invincible resistance anymore, right?”

”It doesn’t matter. I’m willing to take that risk,” Halldor laughed. ”You may be trying to verbally manipulate my actions, but unfortunately, I am the type who will never waver in my own dueling beliefs no matter what.

Right now, your backrow has no set cards. The only thing on your field worth watching out for is that face-down monster. So I simply won’t attack it.”

Halldor raised his arm high.

”I will not activate Odin, Father of the Aesir’s effect and proceed directly to the Battle Phase! Odin, Father of the Aesir, attack ’Meklord Emperor Skiel’!”

Odin’s divine spear began to glow. Golden light gathered at the tip of the spear, shining like the sun, ready to burst forth at any moment.

”And at this moment, I will use the trap Broder entrusted to me!” Halldor declared. ”Trap Card ’Nordic Relic Megingjord’!

This card allows you to select a Nordic or Aesir monster on your field. By preventing that monster from attacking directly this turn, its ATK becomes twice its original ATK!

Using this card’s effect, double ’Odin, Father of the Aesir’s ATK for this turn!”

[Odin, Father of the Aesir, ATK 4000 → ATK 8000]

Airplane-head commentator: ”E-e-e-eight thousand! An 8000-ATK strike from Odin! Will this blow end the duel? Director Kira has no set cards in his backrow. Could it be that his undefeated myth of breaking through three opponents ends here!?”
