Who Let Him Play Yugioh? (Re-Upload)

Jack felt a bit puzzled by Kira’s suggestion. Truthfully, he wasn’t very familiar with Greiger. He only knew that Greiger had become a Dark Signer because he held a grudge against Goodwin for sacrificing the people of his hometown. Later, he discovered that it had actually been the Earthbound Immortals, not Goodwin, who had done the sacrificing.

Afterward, Kira had beaten the Ruler of the Netherworld, reviving several Dark Signers who had died—including Greiger.

But that was all Jack knew. He had no real connection with Greiger.

Kira didn’t explain further. In truth, Jack’s opportunity for evolution wasn’t with Greiger himself, but hidden in Greiger’s hometown.

That was something from the WRGP arc of the anime. The Earthbound Immortals weren’t limited to the ones the Signers had defeated in the Dark Signer arc. The truly strongest Earthbound Immortal was called the ”Red Nova,” possessing terrifying power unmatched by the others. It simply hadn’t revived during the previous Dark Signer battles.

Legend said that ten thousand years ago, the strongest Earthbound Immortal had ravaged the land. A Dragon Signer from ten thousand years ago, possessing the power of the ”Blazing Soul,” had defeated it and sealed the Red Nova underground. The legend of the Red Nova had then been passed down for ten thousand years.

Later, the anime revealed that the modern Jack Atlas was the successor of that ancient Blazing Soul hero. Jack awakened the Blazing Soul, absorbed the power of the Crimson Earthbound Immortal, and made it his own—evolving his Red Dragon Archfiend into ”Red Nova Dragon,” his strongest ace in the anime.

And the place where the Red Nova had been sealed ten thousand years ago happened to be in Greiger’s hometown. That was why Kira had told Jack to visit when he had time.

If Yusei’s most critical transformation in the anime was comprehending the ”Clear Mind,” then Jack’s was the ”Blazing Soul.”

In the anime, the Red Nova never even got a chance to appear before being absorbed by Jack—leaving fans wondering for years what the strongest Earthbound Immortal actually looked like.

However, in 2024, after a certain K consortium tasted the sweetness of selling nostalgia, they began frantically looking for card-selling opportunities in the classic original three series of Yu-Gi-Oh!. Thus, the legendary Red Nova finally got its own main card.

[Earthbound Immortal Red Nova, Level 12, ATK 3500.]

Effect: During either player’s Main Phase, you can banish this card from your hand or Graveyard, send one Earthbound Immortal or Red Dragon Archfiend from your hand or field to the Graveyard, then Special Summon one ”Earthbound” monster or one ”Red Nova Dragon” from your Deck or Extra Deck.

Red Nova was a crucial benefactor on Jack’s path of evolution—the key monster that absolutely had to be obtained.

Kira said nothing more. After notifying his subordinates from the Sector Security to clean up the scene, he left.

Jack felt doubtful about what Kira had said, but after thinking it over, he decided to take some time to visit Greiger. Kira always seemed mysterious, but he appeared to know a lot and probably wouldn’t say things without reason.

It couldn’t just be that he was bored and making Jack run around for fun, right?

After returning, Kira immediately went to Iliaster to investigate and quickly confirmed two things.

First, this Fake Jack was also a Z-ONE product. Or more precisely, it used the same technology as the fake Breo he had just defeated.

Second, although the technology was the same, it had not been made by Z-ONE—at least not the Z-ONE that Kira knew. There were no records inside Iliaster of any attempts to replicate or imitate Jack.

So this Fake Jack and the previous Fake Breo likely came from the same faction.

Still, its performance was impressive—it had actually beaten the real version.

Kira arrived at Iliaster headquarters and took a look at the progress of the Circuit diagram. The results were quite good. Since the start of the WRGP, nearly half had already been completed—and it was still only the preliminaries. The truly intense battles hadn’t even begun yet.

At this rate, Z-ONE’s Ark Cradle should be summonable soon. The forces behind the scenes probably wouldn’t just sit back and let them summon such a powerful weapon. As long as the WRGP continued, they would likely keep making moves.

Speaking of intense battles, Kira checked the expected opponent for his ”Duel for Fun” team’s next match and raised an eyebrow.

This time they had run into an interesting opponent.

The holders of the Nordic Three Gods—a top-tier team in terms of strength in the 5D’s anime—Team Ragnarok.

The midday sun was refracted into rainbow halos by the holographic projectors floating above the arena. The ring-shaped stands seating tens of thousands had already turned into a boiling ocean of metal.

When the WRGP broadcast announced ”Team Ragnarok entering the arena,” a massive projection of the Norse World Tree suddenly appeared across the dome, with three beams of light piercing through the smoke from its roots.

That was Team Ragnarok’s entrance. Halldor, Broder, and Dragan—the three holders of the Aesir God powers—each rode their Duel Runners out of the smoke and charged onto the track amid countless cheers and roars.

”Alright, today we’ve arrived at the most anticipated duel of the entire WRGP preliminaries!”

The airplane-haired commentator shouted.

”From the Nordic stars, the duelists said to command ’gods’—Team Ragnarok! Facing off against the only one-man team in the WRGP—the ’Duel for Fun’ team, also known as Sector Security Director Fujiki Kira!”

”Director Fujiki Kira has won every match so far with pure solo power, defeating all opponents single-handedly. Today he faces an extraordinary opponent. Can he continue to fight three-on-one and extend this miracle!?”

The commentator was hyping up the atmosphere, and the audience was boiling with excitement. But the three members of Team Ragnarok didn’t look very pleased upon hearing this.

”Three-on-one? One person wants to defeat the three of us?”

Broder, holder of Aesir God Loki, crossed his arms with a look of disdain.

”What a joke.”

Team captain Halldor said: ”Don’t be careless. This person dares to participate alone and has won every match so far. He must be a duelist not to be underestimated.”

But Dragan added: ”Fujiki Kira is undoubtedly a strong duelist. But no matter how strong he is, facing gods and still wanting to defeat all three...”

He shook his head.

”I don’t think a duelist with that kind of strength even exists on Earth.”

This time Captain Halldor said nothing, simply expressing agreement through silence.

He had always told his teammates not to underestimate opponents just because they held gods and to remain cautious. But even he felt that, no matter how cautious they were, with three of them each holding the power of a god, how could they possibly lose?

If they did, wouldn’t that mean the opponent was basically a god himself?
