Who Let Him Play Yugioh? (Re-Upload)

The vast blue sky stretched endlessly. The White Dragon’s body reflected the sunlight, like a silver sword slicing through the peaceful clouds, leaving a long white trail behind.

From a distance, it looked exactly like a White Dragon soaring through the skies. Anyone unfamiliar might really believe a spirit had appeared. But that wasn’t the case—this was Seto Kaiba, the company president, who had built a jet plane almost perfectly replicating the appearance of the White Dragon.

Over the years, President Kaiba had devoted himself to making the White Dragon the symbol of both his company and himself. This was reflected in every aspect of his life, and of course, his personal vehicle was no exception.

The Blue-Eyes Jet was a super jet built at great cost by Seto Kaiba, representing the pinnacle of this world’s technology. Its engines were so quiet for the cabin passengers that it was nearly silent. Passengers could barely feel the engine’s operation—they might even start to believe they were riding an actual White Dragon.

But its speed surpassed the limits of today’s fighter jets, and it could easily perform maneuvers regular jets couldn’t. When it soared into the sky, it was like an unsheathed sword, every takeoff carrying the momentum of slaying an enemy general.

Such high performance came with high demands—it’s said that piloting it was exceedingly difficult. But Kaiba never allowed anyone else to touch his ride anyway. Everyone knew: whenever the Blue-Eyes White Dragon Jet took to the skies, the pilot could only be Seto Kaiba himself.

It might seem unbelievable for a company president to be a better pilot than ace flyers, but when it comes to Kaiba, it somehow doesn’t sound that strange.

After all, it’s common knowledge that Kaiba’s physical abilities are superhuman.

Before boarding, Kira couldn’t help but take a few more glances at the White Dragon Jet’s shape. He’d only seen it from afar on TV before—seeing it up close in real life, it really did look like a White Dragon sleeping.

As he boarded, he half-joked to Kaiba, ”Why not print this plane as a card too? I think it has potential. Maybe it’d really catch on.”

Kaiba raised an eyebrow at that. He didn’t say anything, but it was clear he took the suggestion to heart.

Maybe after this trip, it wouldn’t be long before ”Blue-Eyes Jet Dragon” would be born.

Kira’s lab was now up and running, producing results and frequently sending members to top academic conferences. Kira himself had established collaborations with several of Kaiba’s research teams, so Kaiba had heard plenty about Kira’s legendary academic prowess.

According to team leaders, this kid might be a natural-born duelist, with abnormally strong spiritual vision and unprecedented affinity for spirits. He could often offer a single offhand comment that would point stuck teams in the right direction, leading to major breakthroughs.

With such a strong impression from the experts, Kaiba thought over Kira’s casual suggestion and found it genuinely interesting, so he made a mental note to develop it later.

His Blue-Eyes brand always combined science and mysticism. So, even though the Blue-Eyes White Dragon was a dragon spirit from three thousand years ago, many of its incarnations bore signs of modern technology.

The jet took off, gently parting the clouds into elegant ripples, which then quickly closed up again, like nature’s skin trembling under the White Dragon’s touch.

Kaiba personally served as a pilot, while Mokuba entertained Kira in the dining cabin. The onboard restaurant had a top-tier chef team, offering customized food and drinks.

”Kazehane City?” Kira asked. ”Are you sure the enemy’s base is there?”

He’d represent the academy in a match next week, but Mokuba said this trip would only take two days at most. So Kira decided to tag along with Mokuba to the neighboring city.

He could make sure the enemies threatening him were handled, and maybe pick up a new deck or two.

”Pretty much,” Mokuba replied, eating a large chocolate sundae.

”We asked some local friends to investigate, and it seems they found something. But online communication isn’t safe, so we’ll meet in person after landing.”

He paused, then said seriously, ”If our guess is right, this is an old grudge we didn’t settle before. But it doesn’t matter. This time, we’ll end it.”

”You sound like you already know who the enemy is,” Kira said.

”Can’t be sure, but we’ll know soon enough.” Mokuba smiled and shrugged. ”Doesn’t matter—whoever it is, my brother will take care of it.”

He clearly didn’t want to dwell on the topic. Kira went along and changed the subject: ”Are the local friends KaibaCorp branch staff?”

”No. For various reasons, we can’t fully trust people inside the company right now.” Mokuba smiled. ”You probably don’t know them, but they’re trustworthy.”

”I thought President Kaiba didn’t have any friends,” Kira joked.

”Yeah, that’s mostly true. But there are exceptions.”

Mokuba set down his sundae, leaned back, and absentmindedly watched the clouds drift by outside the window.

”If I had to say, the person closest to being my brother’s friend is that guy.”

Kira knew without asking—Mokuba was thinking of Yami Yugi.

Rumors still abounded in the outside world. After all, Seto Kaiba had taken over KaibaCorp at sixteen, and in recent years had become one of the world’s top figures.

But he was also known for having neither a partner nor friends. Not even the usual celebrity scandals. He came across as a complete lone wolf.

If anything, his signature phrase was probably, ”I’m a man who will become the King of Duelists. Women just get in the way.”

But even someone like him had a hole in his heart that could never be filled.

That was Atem’s departure.

It’s said that Kazuki Takahashi once joked in an interview, ”Atem is everything to Seto Kaiba.” Maybe that’s true. Kaiba might not call Atem a companion, but he was definitely the closest thing.

Losing his eternal rival felt like losing his purpose in life. Even reaching the top of the world, or finally taking the Duel King title he’d always wanted, felt empty.

In the Dark Side of Dimensions movie, when the Pharaoh truly returned, even Yugi admired Kaiba’s determination. Yugi said he himself had given up, but Kaiba never stopped believing. That obsession went beyond normal people.

At the end of the movie, Kaiba even stormed the afterlife and found Atem’s palace.

Some of the palace guards must have thought, ”Why is Lord Seto dressed so flamboyantly today?”

The movie’s ending was left open—no one, in the audience or the real world, knew the result of that duel. But given Kaiba’s three-thousand-year rivalry with Atem and Kuriboh, odds are he lost again.

That’s why he still hasn’t given up on another rematch.

Kira’s thoughts turned to the Link System.

Wait a minute.

He’d realized the Link System was essentially a consciousness projection, able to reach other dimensions. That was similar to the tech Kaiba used to enter the afterlife.

Maybe that was part of his motivation for developing the system.

If you stretch your imagination, as the Link System’s maps expand, maybe someday a version will open up an Underworld map. Then Kaiba could keep challenging the Pharaoh to duels forever.

”By the way, we’ve got some flight time left. Want to try the Link System’s dueling feature?” Mokuba suggested. ”I can use the data for future adjustments.”

Kira glanced at him.

Looking at Mokuba’s eager smile, Kira wondered, Debugging, huh?

I think you just want to watch me duel.
