The Sea Queen of 1985

Chapter 265: Chapter 265: I Want a Good Dad, Not a Bad Dad

Han Xiaorui looked it over; it was a share transfer agreement.

It granted dividend rights but no management rights, though it did include advisory rights. Additionally, the shares could not be bought or sold at will.

If she no longer wanted the shares, she had to offer them to the other shareholders first. Only if the other shareholders declined could she sell to an outside party. Furthermore, the buyer would also need the approval of the other shareholders.

This was also to ensure assets didn’t flow out of the company and to prevent it from being maliciously exploited.

Seeing no issues, Han Xiaorui signed her name.

”The salvage ship is huge. Once the kids are a little older, I’ll take them on a long voyage during the fishing off-season. We’ll invite Xiao Dai along and go treasure hunting.”

Ye Feng smiled. Now that she had shares, her enthusiasm was on another level.

Before, she’d discover things by chance and then tell him.

Now, Han Xiaorui was already thinking about actively searching. It just went to show that rewards are a great motivator.

Han Xiaorui recalled a casual chat she’d had with the crewmen on the ship, where they’d talked about Japan.

Han Xiaorui asked Ye Feng, ”Have you been paying attention to Japan’s exchange rate recently?”

Ye Feng nodded. ”I have. To be precise, my grandfather and my aunt are in the middle of some financial maneuvers.”

”Why the sudden questions? Are you also thinking of making money off Japan through financial means?”

Hearing this, Han Xiaoru waved her hand. ”My little bit of money isn’t worth the effort. This is the United States harvesting Japan.”

”I don’t sympathize with them, but I do think it’s pretty tragic! If you’re not independent and sovereign, it doesn’t matter how well you develop.”

Ye Feng nodded. ”Exactly. That’s why we’re undergoing reform and opening up now, developing our economy. We’re attracting foreign investment, and once we’ve developed, we’ll face the same problem.”

”But we don’t have to worry in the short term, because our country is too poor and backward in many areas. Even if they want to harvest us, they have to wait until we’re fattened up first!”

Hearing Ye Feng’s words, Han Xiaorui laughed. ”That’s true. Right now, we’re like a tall guy who’s nothing but skin and bones! Not much meat on us, can’t squeeze any fat out!”

”The people of our country are diligent and eager to learn, and there are plenty of smart people! The United States’ tricks are just that. If we keep learning from our losses, maybe we’ll be able to withstand it when the time comes.”

Ye Feng’s gaze was firm. ”There’s no ’maybe’ about it. It’s a certainty! I firmly believe that!”

He was a man who had come from the battlefield; he believed in certain victory.

’Now that’s a man’s charm!’

Admiration filled Han Xiaorui’s eyes as she looked at Ye Feng. ’As expected of the man I chose. Such a strong will.’

Ye Feng lowered his eyes and hugged Han Xiaorui. ”You have excellent taste!”

”Haha!” Han Xiaorui laughed heartily. ”Not humble at all, are you!”

For once, Ye Feng acted conceited. ”I’m just speaking the truth!”

Han Xiaorui checked the time. ”Pingping and An’an are about to get out of school. I’m going to pick them up. Do you want to come?”

Ye Feng nodded, his expression very serious. ”I’m busy with work now, so I only get to come occasionally. Of course I’m going to pick up Pingping An’an.”

”If I don’t make a good impression now, what if the two little ones reject me after we get married and won’t let me in the door? That would be a disaster!”

Han Xiaorui smiled. ”Don’t worry, they won’t! Kids are actually very smart. If you’re good to them, they’ll naturally be good to you.”

”Yang Jianming paid them no attention. He doesn’t exist in Pingping An’an’s lives or in their hearts.”

Ye Feng smiled and nodded. ”Then I’d better be on my best behavior! When I pick them up today, I’ll teach them how to make toys together.”

Han Xiaorui was surprised. ”You know how to make toys?”

Ye Feng raised an eyebrow. ”Don’t underestimate me. I’m very good with my hands. I guarantee I can make fun toys out of the most common, simple things.”

Hearing Ye Feng say this, Han Xiaorui grew curious too. ”What are you going to make?”

”It’s a secret.” Ye Feng had also learned Han Xiaorui’s typical way of communicating, adding a little fun to everyday things.

Pingping and An’an were very happy to see their mother coming to pick them up.

Pingping and An’an ran to stand between Han Xiaorui and Ye Feng. They used to envy other children who held their father’s and mother’s hands.

Han Xiaorui and Ye Feng exchanged a smile. The children’s yearning for a father and a complete family was very strong.

Not far away, Cai Wenjun was being held by his mother’s hand on one side and his father’s on the other.

Pingping and An’an deliberately took Han Xiaorui’s and Ye Feng’s hands and walked past Cai Wenjun. ”Bye, Junjun! This is my mom and my... Uncle Ye.”

Ye Feng crouched down and looked at Pingping and An’an. ”Call me Dad, and when we get home, Dad will make toys for you.”

Han Xiaorui didn’t stop him.

Pingping and An’an looked at their mother.

Han Xiaorui smiled. ”Pingping An’an, do you want a dad?”

Pingping nestled shyly against her mother. ”I want a good dad, not a bad dad.”

’Who says kids don’t understand things?’

The ”bad dad” was that bastard Yang Jianming. He used to argue all the time and was abusive toward Han Xiaorui. The children saw it all.

Just because they couldn’t talk about it back then didn’t mean they didn’t know.

”Uncle Ye is a good dad,” Han Xiaorui said with a smile, giving Ye Feng her full approval.

’Since Ye Feng took the initiative to have the children call him Dad, she couldn’t discourage his enthusiasm.’

Granny Cai was quick; she had already calculated a good date for the engagement.

Pingping and An’an tilted their little faces up at Ye Feng and called out softly, ”Dad.”

Ye Feng smiled and reached out to ruffle Pingping and An’an’s hair. ”Good girls. Dad will carry you home.”

”Both of them? How are you going to carry them?” Han Xiaorui tried to stop him. Pingping and An’an had been eating a lot and growing fast lately; they weren’t light.

”What’s wrong with two?” Ye Feng felt underestimated. ”I can even carry you, let alone two little girls.”

Ye Feng was as good as his word. He picked one up in each arm, not struggling at all, looking quite relaxed.

Pingping and An’an were a little nervous at first, but they soon realized how safe it was and became very proud. They kept waving to their friends, ”Bye, Junjun! Bye, Lili! Bye, Huahua...”

They wanted to say goodbye to every single friend whose name they knew, showing off that they had a dad now.

Han Xiaorui followed behind, greeting the villagers openly.

She was a person who did things openly; her approach to dating was no different.

For her second marriage, she would still throw a big banquet.

Her first husband was no good, so she got a divorce. She would still be happy in her second marriage.

If Ye Feng turned out to be no good in the future, Han Xiaorui wouldn’t cling to him either.

If she met someone else who made her heart flutter, she’d have a third marriage.

And if she didn’t, she still had the sea. She could be a happy single person.

In any case, she didn’t care about others’ gossip. She only cared about her own happiness.

It was like the shoe on her own foot; only she knew if it was comfortable or not.

Back at home, Pingping and An’an gathered around Ye Feng. ”Dad, make the toys.”

Ye Feng was overjoyed. As if by magic, he produced two beer bottle caps.

Pingping and An’an didn’t understand. What was so fun about bottle caps?

Ye Feng found a toolbox, took out a hammer, and with a BANG BANG BANG, hammered the bottle caps completely flat. Then, he drilled two holes in the center of each.

He found some sturdy twine, threaded it through the two holes, and tied a knot.

He placed the metal disc in the middle, hooked the twine with his fingers on both sides, swung it around a few times, and then pulled his hands apart.

And just like that, a spinning buzzer made from a beer bottle cap was finished.

The edge of the bottle cap was serrated, and when it spun at high speed from being pulled, it could even saw through wood.

With a WHIRRR, sawdust continuously fell from a piece of wood onto the ground.
