The Sea Queen of 1985

Chapter 73: Chapter 73: Buying a Good House for My Younger Sister

Steamed red grouper.

The fish was tender and flaky, with a wonderfully fresh flavor.

It didn’t have many bones, so it was a favorite among adults and children alike.

It was rich in protein and various amino acids.

Not only was it a high-quality food and a nutritional supplement, but it could also prevent thrombosis, reduce blood viscosity, and lower blood pressure. It could be used to prevent and treat various conditions like myocardial infarctions, coronary heart disease, vasculitis, and cerebral arteriosclerosis.

At the same time, it could also activate brain cells and improve cognitive function.

The fish was huge, so part of it was steamed and part of it was braised in soy sauce. One fish, two ways.

After Liang Xiaoyu brought it home, Granny Cai saw the high-quality ingredients and prepared it with even greater care.

In just one hour, Granny Cai managed to prepare the fish five different ways, and the flavors were even more incredible.

Eating all this good food every day, Han Xiaorui put on some weight, and her figure improved.

At least she was no longer flat in the front and back like when she was first reborn. Now, the places that should be full were full, and the places that should be perky were perky.

The same was true for Han Xiaoqing. She was at an age brimming with youthful vitality, with fair skin and delicate features.

Han Xiaorui was happy to spend money on clothes for her sister, dressing Han Xiaoqing very elegantly.

When Han Xiaoqing took her niece and Cai Wenjun to their classes, young male doctors would always find an excuse to walk by and sneak glances at her.

Watching her sister, Han Xiaorui’s eyes curved into a smile. ”It’s going to be windy tomorrow, so I can’t go out to sea. In the morning, you take the kids to class. At noon, I’ll treat everyone to a meal, and then I’ll buy you a few more outfits.”

Han Xiaoqing waved her hands, refusing. ”A meal is fine, but please don’t buy me any more clothes. Your old ones are more than enough for me to wear.”

”How could that be okay?” Han Xiaorui retorted. ’It would be one thing if I were broke, but since I have money, why not let ourselves eat and dress well?’

Han Xiaoqing shook her head and chuckled. ”Sis, aren’t you trying to buy a house? You really think houses are like cabbages you can just pick up at the market?”

Han Xiaorui beamed, her smile radiant, revealing her pearly white teeth. ”To me, they *are* like cabbages. I can buy one whenever I want. Buying clothes won’t stop me from buying a house.”

Han Xiaoqing thought her sister was being a bit of a show-off, but she had the means to back it up. ”We can dress well here, but when we go back home in a while, I think we should dress down a bit.”

Han Xiaorui paused for a moment, then immediately understood what Han Xiaoqing meant and nodded in agreement. ”Right! I definitely don’t want them thinking I’m rich and following me over here.”

The next day, after Han Xiaoqing and Liang Xiaoyu took the children to their classes, Han Xiaorui met up with Chen Nanyang.

”Xiao Han, over here!” Chen Nanyang called out as soon as he saw Han Xiaorui, waving a copy of *People’s Literature* magazine in his hand.

Han Xiaorui looked over. ”Lawyer Chen, how’s the house search I asked you to help me with?”

Chen Nanyang smiled. ”The area around the university is all faculty housing, but it’s quite old. Most of it is those narrow ’tube-style’ apartment buildings. They can’t even compare to your big house.”

”There’s a housing complex with apartments originally built for foreign sale, just a five-minute walk from the university. If you want to buy there, I can find a way to get you the eligibility, but the price is quite steep.”

Han Xiaorui was taken aback. ”Aren’t those only for sale to foreigners? How can you get the eligibility?”

’Of course she didn’t want to buy a tube-style apartment. They were narrow, old, and uncomfortable.’

”My aunt and uncle went abroad years ago. Now they’ve come back to invest and have opened a factory. They were eligible to buy a home here. It’s been over three years, and they’ve bought a villa elsewhere, so they’re looking to sell this one.”

’It all clicked for Han Xiaorui. The Chen family truly was influential in Shencheng. They even had relatives abroad who were apparently capitalists able to come back and invest.’

”What’s the price?” Han Xiaorui asked. ”Let’s go take a look at the foreign-sale apartment directly.”

”A standard unit is 400,000, for about 140 square meters. That’s the unfurnished price, which you can look up. My aunt’s place is furnished, so it’s 420,000. That’s a firm price, no games.” Chen Nanyang knew Han Xiaorui wouldn’t be interested in the old tube-style apartments, so he led her directly to the Fuli District, where the foreign-sale building was located.

”420,000?” Han Xiaorui was astonished. ’This apartment is really expensive.’

”Think it’s too expensive?” Chen Nanyang smiled. ”Still want to see it?”

Han Xiaorui nodded. ”It is very expensive, but I want to see the complex and the apartment itself. Is it a good place?”

Chen Nanyang was momentarily stunned. ’Could Han Xiaorui really afford it?’

The complex had excellent landscaping, the rooms were large, and the layout was quite reasonable.

’Han Xiaorui wanted to buy an apartment for her sister as a dowry, so of course, she had to get a good one.’

”I’ll buy it,” Han Xiaorui replied. ”What’s the process?”

Chen Nanyang froze. ”You’re really buying it? It’s so expensive!”

Han Xiaorui smiled. ”I came into a small fortune recently. I found a piece of ambergris, enough to buy this apartment.”

”I can see the environment inside and around the complex is excellent. There’s a primary school, a wet market, and a hospital nearby—it has everything.”

Chen Nanyang was dumbfounded. ”Ambergris? That’s not a small fortune, that’s a massive windfall!”

Han Xiaorui just smiled. ”It was just good luck. From now on, I’ll continue to get rich through hard work!”

Chen Nanyang nodded. ”I’ll take you to the property sales office and the Housing Authority to ask some questions, just to put your mind at ease.”

Han Xiaorui nodded. ”Okay. I trust you, but this is a huge amount of money, so I need to be cautious. Let’s go to the Housing Authority together and ask. Once we have a definitive answer, we can sign the contract.”

Chen Nanyang smiled. ”Of course. Let’s go. We’ll head to the Housing Authority right now.”

Han Xiaorui asked her questions carefully and received affirmative answers from the staff there. She then formally signed the contract with Chen Nanyang’s aunt.

Chen Nanyang’s aunt had actually already moved out, taking all her valuables with her.

Some large pieces of furniture and appliances were left behind.

After accounting for depreciation, they were all sold to Han Xiaorui as part of the total price of 420,000.

She would pay half the amount upfront and the other half once the property title was processed.

With Chen Nanyang acting as the middleman, there was mutual trust.

After lunch, they took Miss Han and her identification documents to handle the paperwork.

Because it was a foreign-sale property and highly valued, the Housing Authority processed things very efficiently. The property title would be ready in just three days.

Han Xiaoqing signed the documents in a daze. Walking out of the Housing Authority, she still couldn’t believe it.

’Her sister had actually bought her a 420,000-yuan apartment!’

’It was so big, with wood floors and carpets, and it even had a television. It looked incredibly luxurious at a glance.’

”Sis, it’s too expensive!” Han Xiaoqing said, shaking her sister’s arm. ”Why didn’t you buy one for yourself?”

Han Xiaorui smiled sweetly. ”It’s good that it’s expensive. Only then is it worthy of my Xiao Jing.”

”This is the dowry I’ve prepared for you. Without your help, I wouldn’t have been able to go fishing, earn so much money, or even dream of buying a house!”

Han Xiaoqing was too moved to speak. She hugged her sister tightly, her eyes turning red.

’Her sister was just that wonderful. If someone showed her an ounce of kindness, she would insist on repaying them with a pound.’

’How could anyone have ever betrayed such a good sister!’

’Chen Nanyang was also quite shocked. This Han Xiaorui was truly generous!’

’She wasn’t just generous to her sister, but also to him, her lawyer and agent.’

’She paid the 1% agent fee directly today.’

’He had earned 4,200 in a single day—more than he made from litigating a case!’
