Immortal of the Nine Realms

Chapter 1650: They Might Be Awake

After Xie Aman sent her voice transmission, she called out to the Sixth Star Lord, who was standing not far away. ”Sixth, we’re heading out first. Come visit us at the Enlightenment God Palace when you have the time.”

”I have time right now!” Sixth Star Lord shouted back.

Xie Aman was momentarily stunned, but she immediately steered the Black Dragon and vanished into the void.

Sixth Star Lord had been preparing to board the ship when he saw it disappear, and his face turned rigid with shock. His mind began to redefine the phrase ”having time.”

As the Black Dragon Boat passed by the Ji Family estate, Fang Chen transmitted to Xie Aman, ”Eldest Senior Sister, Ji Tong from the Ji Family shares a bit of destiny with me. Let’s take him along.”

Xie Aman paused briefly but agreed without much thought.

When Fang Tong boarded the immortal vessel, he still found it unbelievable. Was he really heading to the Enlightenment God Palace just like that?

Ji Sheng, being a member of the Ji family, was also quite happy to see Fang Chen and Ji Tong getting along so well, so he came over to chat for a while.

The return journey was quite smooth and devoid of any accidents. By the time the Black Dragon Boat returned to the Enlightenment God Palace, more than ten years had passed.

”Remember to let the events of this encounter rot in your bellies. If word gets out, there will be consequences,” said Xie Aman indifferently, casting a glance over the group.

Everyone hurriedly nodded in agreement.

Little Immortal Honglian had woken up during the return journey. She had learned everything that happened after she fell asleep from Fang Chen.

”Daoist Fang, I am a bit weary. I shall return to rest for a while.”

With a forced smile, she cupped her hands toward Fang Chen and then departed on her Immortal Boat, tearing through the sky.

The other core disciples left one after another, leaving only Xie Aman, Chen Enxue, Fang Chen, and Fang Tong.

”Eldest Senior Sister, I will take him to register first,” Fang Chen said to Xie Aman, glancing at Ji

Tong.

Xie Aman nodded. ”Mhm. Settle him in first, then come see me afterward.”

She watched Fang Chen and Fang Tong leave, then turned her gaze toward Chen Enxue.

”So, what is it? Is this matter very serious?” asked Chen Enxue.

She had long noticed that something was off with Xie Aman. The cynical smile of the past was gone, replaced by an expression of considerable gravity.

”They... might be awake,” answered Xie Aman.

”They? Who are ’they’? Who are you referring to?”

For a moment, Chen Enxue didn’t understand what Xie Aman was talking about.

Just then, a figure arrived through the air. It was Elder Hou from the Council of Elders.

Elder Hou said in a heavy voice, ”The Council is already aware of what happened. The immortal records of those core disciples have been struck from the Enlightenment God Palace. However, you mentioned there was another important matter. What is it?”

Xie Aman said, ”I think we should hold a meeting. Let the elders state their positions and share their views. After all, this is currently just a suspicion without concrete evidence.”

Both Elder Hou and Chen Enxue showed a flicker of hesitation on their faces.

Elder Hou nodded. ”Fine, I will notify them.”

When the Eldest Senior Sister requested a meeting, the Council of Elders indeed had to cooperate.

Meanwhile, Fang Tong followed closely behind Fang Chen.

”Brother, where are Father and Mother now?”

He had successfully registered and become an external cultivator. He had seen with his own eyes that the cultivators here treated Fang Chen with great respect. Many of them even carried a trace of reverence in their tone.

”Our parents’ whereabouts are unpredictable. I don’t know where they are at the moment, either. Now that you’re here at the Enlightenment God Palace, focus on your cultivation and don’t overthink other things. If the day comes when I find them, I’ll take you and our other siblings to see them together,” transmitted Fang Chen. ”Do not reveal the relationship between us, lest someone tries to make an issue of it.”

”Other... siblings?”

Fang Tong was stunned. Then, anticipation and nervousness flooded his heart.

Just then, the Hundred Battle Immortal Sovereign suddenly arrived through the air. He glanced at Fang Tong, then cupped his hands and smiled at Fang Chen. ”Core Disciple Fang, the Eldest Senior Sister requests your presence at the Council of Elders.”

Fang Chen nodded. ”Understood.”

After instructing Fang Tong to wait for him there, he flew toward the Council of Elders with the Hundred Battle Immortal Sovereign.

Council of Elders.

Some of the elders had been in secluded meditation when they received Elder Hou’s summons; others had been refining pills. They were all feeling confused.

A leopard-headed, human-bodied elder asked with a face full of confusion, ”Elder Hou, what urgent matter has arisen that requires a Council meeting?”

In total, there were thirty-seven elders in the Council of Elders. Apart from a few away on business who could not return, all those presiding over Enlightenment Planet had been summoned. Even some elders who had been in seclusion for over a thousand years and had not shown their faces made an appearance today. A lineup of this magnitude easily led one to imagine that the Enlightenment God Palace was about to go to war with some super-first-tier power.

Elder Hou stated, ”It is still about that matter of Shao Guangyin’s ambush.”

The elders looked at one another. An old man whose cultivation aura was no weaker than Elder Hou’s, though his appearance was ancient to the extreme, slowly spoke. ”Shao Guangyin, the son of Rulai Monastery? Why did he ambush the Eldest? Have we struck back yet?”

As he spoke, he glanced at Xie Aman, his eyes showing a look of inquiry. This elder had been in seclusion for a thousand years. It was called seclusion, but in reality, having reached the peak of the eighth transformation, he simply wished to live a few more years and avoid excessive consumption of his immortal essence. The higher the cultivation, the more immortal essence one consumed with every passing moment.

In the past, such immortal realms existed within the Major Immortal World. In the current era, immortal essence had vanished, and many cultivators whose lifespans were nearing their end could only find other ways to extend their lives.

”We have certainly struck back, but it is also because of this matter that the chief core disciple has made some other discoveries.” Elder Hou looked toward Xie Aman. ”Explain it yourself.”

Xie Aman said, ”For this matter, we should wait for Old Nine to arrive. Let Old Nine speak first, and then I will provide supplements. After you all have heard it, you may express your views.”

”Old Nine? It has been many years since I last saw her,” the old man who had been in seclusion for a millennium said with a faint smile.

Everyone’s expressions turned strange.

Elder Jiang coughed lightly and said, ”Elder Donghua, it is not the Old Nine you used to know. She has already fallen. The current Old Nine has only been a core disciple for a few hundred years.”

”Old Nine is dead? How did she die?” Elder Donghua was stunned. His face then turned dark. ”Why was I not informed of such a thing?”

Elder Hou calmly replied, ”Your lifespan is nearly exhausted; what would be the use of informing you? We have already avenged her. If the situation weren’t so serious this time, I wouldn’t have called for you.”

Elder Donghua’s gaze turned cold. ”So what if my lifespan is exhausted? At worst, I’ll just die and become a Ghost Immortal.”

The leopard-headed elder whispered, ”Live as long as you can. The path of a Ghost Immortal... is not that easy to walk.”

Just then, the Hundred Battles Immortal Sovereign entered the Council of Elders with Fang Chen. The Hundred Battles Immortal Sovereign bowed respectfully to the elders present and then withdrew.

Elder Donghua suddenly commanded, ”This is the newly promoted Old Nine? Walk over here and let me see you.”
