Immortal of the Nine Realms

Chapter 1647: The Meat Must Be Delicious

”Those Evil Immortals probably won’t be escaping this time.”

”Tsk, being Evil Immortals and daring to stay so high-profile in the Zhisheng Immortal Dynasty... they must have squeezed a lot of benefits out of those districts.”

”No matter how many benefits they got, it’s all going to be confiscated this time.”

”The Great Sorrow Army lives up to its name, leading the Evil Immortals into the trap step by step. I just wonder when they’ll finally catch one of those top ten rankers.”

”Xie the Invincible, the one who beat the Grand Abbot of Han Mountain Temple into a heavy injury and forced him to flee recently, still hasn’t been found.”

”If you ask me, the Great Sorrow Army only knows how to catch the small fry. They’re completely helpless against the big bosses.”

”Careful with your words! Don’t go looking for trouble.”

”I walk straight and sit upright. What do I have to fear?”

Everyone in the teahouse was looking up, watching the battle in the sky. Some seemed dissatisfied with the Great Sorrow Army and took this opportunity to vent.

Walk straight and sit upright?

Fang Chen glanced at the speaker and sighed inwardly. When the Great Sorrow Army wants to break you, they don’t care about your integrity. Fallen Immortals prey on immortals without reason. As long as the Major Immortal World continued to nurture a steady stream of plump, ”pure” Immortals, the Fallen Immortals had no reason to target their own.

The battle in the sky seemed to be nearing its end. The four sixth-transformation Fallen Immortals were constantly watching for the move of the eight-transformation Ancient Immortal of the God Dao Sect. Even with the Grand Commander overseeing things, they were still worried about getting injured from the aftermath. Even the aftershocks resulting from an eighth-transformation attack could snap every bone in a sixth-transformation’s body, or even extinguish their soul. ℯ

”Mere Evil Immortals, trying to reap a harvest on my turf. Landing in this situation is exactly what you deserve,” said Young Master Yuan, standing with his hands behind his back.

His double-pupilled eyes watched the void as a faint smile touched his lips.

The Wang brothers looked on with admiration. They stole a glance at the green-robed cultivator nearby before whispering, ”Young Master Yuan, your plans are truly flawless. Even the origins of these four couldn’t hide from your keen eyes.”

”It was nothing,” replied Young Master Yuan indifferently. ”Stop talking. Look, those four are about to be captured alive.”

Indeed, the four God Dao Sect cultivators began to show signs of defeat. However, just as they were about to fall, a massive hand suddenly reached out from the void and snatched the four sixth-transformation Fallen Immortals. In an instant, the four Fallen Immortals were seized. Then, another giant hand grabbed the four God Dao Sect cultivators, and both groups vanished into the void together.

The Great Sorrow Army cultivators on the scene stared at each other, their faces slowly filling with shock. Not only had the enemies vanished, but four of their own superior officers had been abducted!

Young Master Yuan stood frozen in disbelief. He instinctively looked toward the green-robed cultivator, only to see him soar into the sky, letting out a thunderous roar, ”Search everywhere! These Evil Immortals dare to plot against the Great Sorrow Army. Their entire clans deserve to be exterminated!”

”Yes, Sir!”

Countless Great Sorrow Army soldiers immediately scrambled in all directions, desperately trying to pick up the trail.

What is happening? Didn’t they know all along that those four had an ace up their sleeve? Is the Great Sorrow Army planning to beat them at their own game?

At that thought, Young Master Yuan felt a sudden surge of realization. When the green-robed cultivator landed before him, he immediately cupped his hands and said, ”As expected, you’ve had everything under your control, my lord.”

”Mhm. Follow me. I have some questions for you.”

With a casual wave of his hand, the green-robed cultivator led Young Master Yuan straight out. Fang Chen’s divine soul immediately followed, trailing silently behind the pair.

Initially, Young Master Yuan thought the green-robed cultivator had some secret intelligence to share with him. But as they flew further and further away, a sudden sense of panic gripped his heart. Something felt inherently wrong.

”My Lord, I—”

The moment he opened his mouth, the green-robed cultivator’s appearance underwent a horrific transformation. He swelled in size, his face turned blue with protruding fangs, and his skin became a sickly, oily green. His immortal essence suddenly took on a malevolent, wicked aura. His voice became cold and mechanical, devoid of any human emotion.

”You were born with double pupils,” said the foul creature. ”Your meat must be incredibly fragrant.”

Foul-smelling saliva dripped from his fangs. Young Master Yuan only had enough time to let out a single curse before he was swallowed whole in one bite.

Crunch. Munch. Crunch.

After a period of gruesome chewing, a look of deep satisfaction appeared on the green-robed cultivator’s face. His cultivation aura visibly strengthened by a few notches. He smiled contentedly. ”Immortal flesh with double pupils really is delicious. Eating one of these is worth a hundred ordinary sixth-transformations. It’s a pity cultivators with such unique constitutions are becoming rarer these days.”

With that, his form reverted to its original appearance, and he flew back toward the district.

Is that... the true form of the demon race?

Fang Chen’s expression was complex. They were hideously ugly. He suspected Old Wang and Little Immortal Honglian were likely not much different from that monstrosity in their previous lives.

Back at the district.

The Wang brothers and the fourth-transformation Immortal waited anxiously for Young Master Yuan’s return. However, he never returned. They watched as the green-robed cultivator led the remaining Great Sorrow Army forces away, departing the district entirely.

Seeing that, Fang Chen knew this chapter had come to an end. The most urgent task now was to relay this information to Xie Aman.

He had to uncover the true reason behind the cooperation between these Fallen Immortals and the God Dao Sect. If the reach of the Fallen Immortals could extend this far into the Nine Mortal Realms, the existence of the Blood Gate Border would become nothing more than a hollow facade. In the long run, the cultivators of the human race would not only have to face the demon race but also these Fallen Immortals who preyed upon their own kind. Compared to the demons, these traitors would likely be far more difficult to handle.

Celestial Invincible Sect.

Fang Chen slowly opened his eyes and looked toward Little Immortal Honglian on the bed. She remained in a deep slumber, though her physical condition seemed stable.

He then checked the immortal crystals stored within his Pifu Sand. The amount reached a staggering forty thousand. More importantly, the Immortal Origin Stone holding the Eye of an Era was there. He had no intention of cutting that Stone open yet, however. He would wait until he had left the Major Immortal World.

Leaving his cave dwelling, Fang Chen located the Sixth Star Lord.

”Sixth Star Lord, is there any news from Eldest Senior Sister?”

The Sixth Star Lord replied, ”Sister Aman should still be handling business. We should wait a bit longer.”

Fang Chen pondered for a moment before asking, ”Have you ever heard of the God Dao Sect?”

”The God Dao Sect? They are one of the top sects in the Shenwang Realm, similar in status to the Enlightenment God Palace. However, that sect is incredibly wealthy. They possess an extremely rare form of Immortal Origin Technique, one of the absolute finest in existence. Because of this, you’re likely to encounter God Dao Sect cultivators in almost any major Immortal Origin District.”

A flicker of envy appeared in the Sixth Star Lord’s eyes. ”With that technique, they’ve earned an untold number of immortal crystals. Their disciples are all dripping with wealth.”

He paused, curiosity piqued. ”Why are you suddenly asking about the God Dao Sect?”

Fang Chen replied, ”If there were Fallen Immortals here collaborating with the God Dao Sect, intentionally allowing themselves to be ’captured’ so they could be brought back to the Nine Mortal Realm—”

”That’s impossible,” interrupted the Sixth Star Lord. ”The God Dao Sect would never cooperate with Fallen Immortals; they know exactly what kind of vile creatures they are. Likewise, Fallen Immortals wouldn’t betray their own people. As for bringing them back to the Nine Realms, I doubt even the people stationed at the Blood Gate border are that audacious.”

”Didn’t Eldest Senior Sister suspect that Shao Guangyin came from Han Mountain Temple?” Fang Chen noted with a smile.

”Even so, he would be a normal cultivator, not a Fallen Immortal. Our scrutiny at the Blood Gate is extremely rigorous. A Fallen Immortal simply wouldn’t be able to pass through,” stated Sixth Star Lord firmly.

However, as the words left his mouth, he seemed to realize the gravity of the implication. He stared at Fang Chen intensely.

”Core Disciple Fang... what you just said... is it true?”
