Immortal of the Nine Realms

Chapter 1625: History Immortal Path

Fang Chen took out the History Immortal Book and handed it to Xie Aman.

Nanming Ruyue and the others gathered around as well. They were deeply curious about this book. The History Immortal Path was exceedingly rare. Even in the ancient Greater Immortal Realm, it had been considered an extremely rare Immortal Path.

”The History Immortal Path... has anyone ever heard of a famous figure in ancient history who cultivated this path?”

”Never heard of one.”

”There is no information around cultivators of the History Immortal Path, not even a simple name.”

”This path... is strange.”

”Does that mean the ninth transformation position of the History Immortal Path is actually still vacant?”

One core disciple looked excited.

Fang Chen glanced at him. This core disciple was named Xu Kun, a fairly senior member who came from a small family in the Fangcun Realm. He had risen from being an outer cultivator to become a core disciple.

Li Shanzi cast him a sideways glance and said calmly, ”There are many vacant ninth-transformation spots, not just the History Immortal Path. But can you walk it? Many paths have long since lost their inheritance.”

Xu Kun stroked his chin and laughed awkwardly. ”Having hope is better than none. But I’m not aiming for the ninth transformation. If I can advance to become an Ancient Immortal and enter the Elder Council in the future, that would be enough.”

”Even becoming an Ancient Immortal is difficult...” Li Shanzi muttered.

For an ordinary core disciple to reach Chen Enxue’s level was already quite impressive. As for becoming an Ancient Immortal, that was incredibly unlikely. Ancient Immortal Registers were vanishingly rare.

Chen Enxue walked over and examined the History Immortal Book curiously. ”Senior Sister, can you make sense of this book? Why don’t we try opening it? Maybe it’s not as the rumors say.”

Xie Aman fiddled with it for a long while before letting out a snort. ”Open it? Even I’m not confident I could open it and remain unharmed. It’s said that every History Immortal Book records the most significant rises and falls of the era. It could be two ninth-transformation immortals battling. It could be an eighth-transformation Ancient Immortal passing away. It could be—”

She listed many possibilities in succession. Instead of dispelling everyone’s curiosity, she only made it grow stronger.

”Is there no safe way to open it?” Fang Chen asked curiously.

Xie Aman smiled. ”Yes. If you are on the History Immortal Path, then opening it carries 99 percent no danger.”

Everyone felt disappointed.

The History Immortal Path?

They did not even know what immortal herb a first-transformation History Immortal needed to consume.

”The History Immortal Path...”

A trace of curiosity arose in Fang Chen’s heart. He was not certain whether his incarnations could walk these Immortal Paths. After all, they could already advance without obstruction and without consuming immortal herbs.

If they can walk Immortal Paths, perhaps I could let one of them try the History Immortal Path. That way, it could open the History Immortal Book in my place and take a look.

Fang Chen resolved to begin experimenting once this journey ended.

”Senior Sister, is the History Immortal Path really that mysterious? In ancient times, was there no sect that followed this path?” Xu Kun asked curiously.

”Perhaps when we reach the Greater Immortal Realm, we can explore in that direction.”

”Right, let’s treat it as exploring an Ancient Forbidden Zone.”

Everyone’s spirits lifted.

Xie Aman thought for a moment. She had just been about to shake her head when her eyes suddenly lit up. ”There actually was. I remember reading in an ancient text about a sect in the Greater Immortal Realm. Most of its members cultivated the History Immortal Path.”

”Which sect?” Chen Enxue asked eagerly.

”Let me think...”

Xie Aman racked her brain, searching through memories she had not expected to retain. Finally, like drawing silk from a cocoon, she gradually retrieved it. ”Yes, the Reincarnation Immortal Sect. That sect once had many members who cultivated the History Immortal Path. The reason the ancient text recorded it was apparently related to the incident when the Greater Immortal Realm split into two. If not for those accidents, no one would likely have known about it.”

Everyone was pondering the Reincarnation Immortal Sect. No one noticed that for a brief moment, Fang Chen’s expression changed.

”Reincarnation Immortal Sect... I think I’ve heard of it. Some people encountered it along the Ancient Immortal Road. But no one seems to have comprehended its immortal intent. I think it’s related to the current state of the Greater Immortal Realm. Now it’s filled only with demonic beasts, demon fiends, and Fallen Immortals. There are no true immortal sects left.

”The Immortal Sects seen along the Ancient Immortal Roads are probably remnants of former sects, mechanisms left behind that operate automatically without anyone controlling them.”

As they chatted casually, waves stirred faintly in Fang Chen’s heart.

Reincarnation Immortal Sect?

Wasn’t he himself a disciple of the Reincarnation Immortal Sect?

The Reincarnation Immortal Sect had three great intents: the Past, Future, and Mortal World! He had comprehended the last of them. Senior Brother Pitu had most likely comprehended the second. And back then, he had even encountered a fellow disciple who seemed to have returned from the future to the past, named Shi Kui! He had claimed to have come from the future.

He even told me to keep a close watch on my kid and not let them tear open the heavens. If that incident wasn’t something akin to a demonic calamity illusion, then it means the Reincarnation Immortal Sect continues to exist in the future, and therefore should exist now as well.

If not for the existence of the Mortal World Immortal Intent—and its transformation into Fang Renjian—he might have suspected that incident was similar to the demonic calamity.

I’ll have a kid in the future? With whom? Little Yu?

At that thought, Fang Chen could not help but smile.

Soon, he pulled his thoughts back. If the Immortal Path of the Reincarnation Immortal Sect was the History Immortal Path, could it be related to the Past and Future immortal intents?

Could History Immortals traverse the river of time? Walk between past and future, recording the rise and fall of history? But if it has such bizarre abilities, it must also have heavy restrictions... Otherwise, a slight alteration would trigger a chain reaction. Those reactions might cause certain memories to disappear. They might cause someone to vanish entirely, as if they had never existed. They might cause...

Fang Chen grew slightly solemn. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚

If I get the chance, I should make a backup of my own memories. If History Immortals truly possess such methods, they could subtly alter a person’s memories through minor changes.

Over the next half month, everyone simply held a Dao discussion aboard the Immortal Boat, sharing their cultivation insights and exchanging cultivation materials.

”Core Disciple Fang, remember to convert those immortal crystals you borrowed into merit points when we return to Enlightenment God Palace,” someone said, laughing.

Fang Chen smiled and nodded. ”Don’t worry. I won’t default.”

However, he secretly felt uneasy. He currently had only 1,000 merit points and owed over 6,000 immortal crystals. What he had wasn’t enough, and he had no intention of turning over the History Immortal Book.

Moreover, the location given to him by Little Mirror still hadn’t been—

Fang Chen suddenly stood up and glanced around.

The surroundings felt familiar.

It seemed that... he had found it.
