My Mosquito Clones Are on a Killing Spree

Chapter 140: Chapter 89: The Shangqing Maoshan Sect

Wang Yiming scanned his surroundings.

He saw the astonishment and deepening interest on everyone’s faces.

He continued:

”After years of deep research into scattered ancient texts and classified archives, I now have conclusive evidence that...”

”The tomb in Wangwu Mountain... its occupant is very likely the Tang Dynasty Taoist Grandmaster, Sima Chengzhen! After he passed away, his personal disciples poured all their efforts into building this final resting place for him!”

After Wang Yiming finished speaking,

the train car fell into a brief silence.

Then,

came the sound of even more fervent, low-voiced discussions and sharp intakes of breath.

”Sima Chengzhen?”

”The great authority of the Taoist Upper Qing Sect?”

”The author of the Sitting and Forgetting Disc?!”

Wang Yiming nodded and said,

”The very same. The twelfth-generation Grandmaster of the Maoshan Sect of the Taoist Shangqing Sect, Sima Chengzhen, who founded the ’Shangqing Tiantai Sect’!”

Then, he quickly continued,

”Professors, we must think outside the box! During the Tang Dynasty, although Blue Star’s Spiritual Qi had been depleted and it had entered the End of Dharma Era, this did not mean that all wisdom was lost, or that the path of Cultivation was completely sealed!”

Wang Yiming’s voice was powerful and resonant:

”Many of the great sages and Great Powers of that era, unable to rely on the external Heaven and Earth Spiritual Qi to strengthen their bodies, forged a new path! They cast aside their frail bodies and turned their exploration inward, focusing on the Cultivation of the heart and Spirit! What they pursued was transcendence and power on a spiritual level!”

Wang Yiming’s gaze became incredibly serious as he posed a question that struck at the core flaw of the current Martial Dao:

”In contrast, when you look at our current Martial Dao system, have none of you noticed a huge, fatal flaw?”

”Today’s Martial Dao only cultivates power! It only cultivates Qi and Blood! It blindly pursues the explosive growth of physical strength while completely ignoring the refinement and nourishment of the Spirit!”

”No matter how high our current Martial Artists’ realms are, no matter how tough as iron their bodies are after Refinement with Qi and Blood, or how they possess the strength to uproot mountains—on the level of Spiritual Power, they remain as fragile and weak as newborn infants! This is a massive hidden danger, a fatal weakness!”

”Now, the Era of the Ten Thousand Races has arrived! On the other side of the Star Gate, who knows what kind of strange and unpredictable races exist?”

”What if—and I’m just saying what if—a race appears that is born with powerful souls and excels at spiritual attacks? Wouldn’t they be the natural bane of us human Martial Artists? If we encountered them, with our weak Spiritual Power, we would likely be unable to offer even a shred of resistance against their spiritual assaults. We would instantly become lambs to the slaughter! That would be an apocalypse for the entire Blue Star Human Race!”

Wang Yiming’s words struck everyone’s heart like a heavy hammer, and the atmosphere in the car instantly became incredibly tense.

He concluded decisively:

”Therefore, one of the most urgent and core tasks for our Blue Star Martial Dao world right now is to create our very own Spiritual Power Cultivation Skill!”

”Or, we must pin our hopes on excavating a lost Spiritual Power Secret Technique from one of those dust-covered tombs of the Pre-Qin Qi Cultivators!”

”Only then can we make up for this fatal weakness of our Blue Star Martial Artists and give ourselves the confidence to survive the struggle against the Ten Thousand Races!”

He brought the topic back to Sima Chengzhen:

”And Sima Chengzhen is the key to solving this problem! The core of the peerless, miraculous book he wrote during his lifetime, the Sitting and Forgetting Disc, was the proposal of the ’method of peacefully sitting and forgetting’! This theory is no empty talk; it constructed a gradual, clearly layered system of Spiritual Power meditation with distinct stages! It is the crystallization of his wisdom, born from his inward search, his questioning of the very Origin of the Spirit during the End of Dharma Era!”

”Therefore, we must explore his tomb! We must go!”

”Even if he, living in the End of Dharma Era, failed to create a complete skill that could be directly used for Cultivation to condense Spiritual Power, the theoretical framework he left behind, his path of exploration into the spiritual world, is a priceless treasure for us! Its reference value is immeasurable! This, this is the true value of our journey!”

Wang Yiming’s words were like parting the clouds to reveal the sun, completely dispelling the doubts that had filled the train car.

The confusion and disappointment on everyone’s faces vanished.

Replaced by a mixture of solemn excitement and a sense of enlightened purpose.

”Spiritual Power... so that’s how it is!”

”Yes, this has indeed been a sword hanging over our heads for hundreds of years...”

”If we can find even a shred of inspiration, even just a theoretical direction, this trip will be worth it!”

Beside Lin Yi, Luo Qian had a sudden realization. He slapped Lin Yi’s shoulder, his voice tinged with self-mockery and relief:

”Lin! I get it! I finally understand why the principal made an exception and let a ’burden’ like me, who isn’t even a First-Grade Martial Artist, come along!”

”Oh? What do you get?” Lin Yi asked, tilting his head.

Luo Qian pouted, a little disappointed.

”Tch! It’s because the target is a Tang Dynasty tomb! Even if there are traps, they’re just mortal contraptions—poisoned arrows, quicksand, trapdoors, that sort of thing. Limited in power. They’re nothing like the great tombs of the Pre-Qin Qi Cultivators, which are filled with terrifying Restrictions that can channel the power of heaven and earth, guardian puppets, and maybe even the lingering killing intent of an Array. Now *that’s* a place where you’d have no chance of survival! The principal must have thought the danger level for this trip was way lower, so he let me come along to broaden my horizons and, well... probably to do some grunt work.”

At the thought of all the Qi Cultivator treasures he had been dreaming of going down the drain, Luo Qian couldn’t help but let out a sigh.

Seeing his expression, Lin Yi smiled and comforted him,

”Alright, stop sighing. Just think of it as a rare field trip. It’s not so bad to get out and enjoy the scenery of Wangwu Mountain. Safety first, right?”
