Pillar of Yita

”The voice of the club actually represents the voices of the stakeholders and investors behind it. Since they were willing to accept losses, naturally, there was nothing much for the guild to discuss. But no one expected what would happen afterwards—”

Fang Hong discovered.

Lonely White Field described these incidents without much empathy, as if he always stood as an observer. Obviously, either the club’s performance disheartened him, or perhaps he never felt much belonging to the Rain Listeners from the start.

But who didn’t?

Perhaps the only place he truly belonged to was just called VEM, a name that existed only in history.

Fang Hong understood that these things he mentioned were secrets of the Rain Listeners.

Although whether the guild still needed to exist was itself a question—

However, he knew these words clearly stemmed from their vice-chairman, Grant’s benefit. The professional ethics of these older generation Invokers were commendable, even if they didn’t feel a strong sense of belonging to a guild.

But they wouldn’t go as far as to betray the guild’s secrets.

Of course, with a few exceptions.

”So,” Fang Hong finally asked, ”you mean even your vice-chairman doesn’t know where the top echelon of the guild has gone?”

Lonely White Field shook his head: ”There are several vice-chairmen in the Rain Listeners. Grant is in charge of training newcomers. Although it’s important, it was never central in the guild. The real core members have long since disappeared.”

”Then why are you here, bringing three training camps and your battalion members to this place? There must be a purpose?”

Lonely White Field was silent for a moment.

Then he slowly replied, ”He didn’t specify, but I can understand his thoughts. The so-called chairman sent him here as a pretext, his true aim is just to let the name of the Rain Listeners continue to exist.”

Fang Hong was stunned.

A guild whose top-level managers had collectively disappeared, how could it continue to exist? The best outcome was to be dismantled by the Super Competitive League, settling its liabilities, and then selling the remaining valuable parts to other successors.

As for at that time, whether it would still be the Rain Listeners, or even if it would still bear that name, where its original members should go, all were unanswered questions.

And the worst outcome—

Was merely being absorbed by another guild.

Just like what was happening now.

”That idea is too naive, even if the Super Competitive League agrees,” Fang Hong took a breath, ”do you really think there’s no problem? Without the support of the club, you’re just a Free Guild, but would the Blood Oath Alliance give you room to stand?”

”It’s not impossible, although very slim,” Lonely White Field finally answered.

Fang Hong looked at him curiously, waiting for more.

”The answer is right here, Dragon’s Trial,” the former said. ”If the chosen ones he selects can survive the trial, we might get Meijeli to fulfill one request.”

”Fulfill one request?” Fang Hong asked, ”You mean to bring your guild back to life? Even if it is a Green Dragon as wealthy as a nation, it doesn’t have the power to intervene in Invoker affairs. If it were Colin Ishurian from the Kingdom taking action, maybe there would be a slight possibility.”

”Of course it’s not that absurd,” Lonely White Field shook his head. ”The so-called fulfillment of a request has many restrictions, but technically it could indeed be done; the Rain Listeners could ask it for shelter. At least in Fenris, the shelter of this Green Dragon means everything, although it’s only for a year—”

”But a year could change many things,” Fang Hong took over his words: ”I see. It still seems too idealistic, but would the Blood Oath Alliance give you this opportunity?”

Lonely White Field shrugged; that wasn’t something he could decide.

As Fang Hong looked at the dagger in his hand, he asked: ”Then this dagger is—?”

”I want to ask for your help, Ade,” Lonely White Field finally said.

”To help you?”

But Lonely White Field shook his head.

”No, not the Rain Listeners, just me.”
