Pillar of Yita

It seemed that only this possibility made sense.

Many had seen golden flashes whistling through the darkness, but no one could figure out what their puppeteer was actually doing.

Even if Kaka were here, he would probably be just as perplexed.

It is well known that when Clockwork Fairies maneuver at high speeds in tight spaces using the narrow field of vision mode, it is not suitable for scouting.

But in this world, there is also a technique known as the Dance of the Fairy.

Even Kaka dared not imagine that, at this moment, these tiny beings weaving through the forest were performing the crown jewel of Clockwork Fairy manipulation skills.

The captain of the Anlan team quietly listened to the questioning voice coming across the channel.

”Why retreat, Captain? We clearly still have a chance. They only have a few people left, and so what if they have a Combat Artisan?”

Xia Sheng clenched her fist tightly at the other end: ”Did the Jiefulite Red Cloak Team desert us in the face of enemy, those untrustworthy fellows!”

”Alright, Asheng,” the captain finally spoke, ”Our friends from the Jiefulite Red Cloak Team cannot directly intervene, they have already done enough. You understand the rules.”

”But—” Xia Sheng bit her lip, she certainly knew the rules. But it felt like the aspirations just beginning to blossom in a young girl’s heart were shattered in an instant, and that disillusionment brought a deep sense of betrayal and disappointment.

She knew her feelings were just wishful thinking, yet it was hard to accept for the moment.

She also found it hard to accept that Anlan would fail under such circumstances.

A warrior from the team came up from behind and gently patted her shoulder: ”We haven’t completely failed. At least we sent the Rain Listeners packing.”

”Besides, compared to them, we are much luckier, aren’t we?”

Xia Sheng was slightly startled, then softly nodded her head.

However, the presence of that mysterious and unpredictable Combat Artisan who had suddenly appeared in the battle, cast a shadow in her heart.

The Combat Artisan from the Jiefulite Red Cloak Team had, as it were for her, opened a gateway to a New World, but the arrival of the other party made Xia Sheng realize that behind this gateway, there was more than just a beautiful landscape.

Suddenly, she began to ponder a question that seemed utterly unrelated to the battle at hand.

This time, it was Rain Listener.

Who would it be next time?

Was her Guild as strong as she had imagined?

Could they continue to win indefinitely?

The more she thought about it, the more the question sent chills down her spine, and she couldn’t help but shiver slightly. The warrior turned his head back, looking at her with concern: ”What’s the matter?”

”Nothing.” Xia Sheng said with a pale face and shook her head.

At the other end of the communicator, the captain of Anlan was also putting down the Communication Crystal in his hand and then turned to the person in front of him: ”Should we really retreat directly, Mr. Kaka? According to my estimate, the main force of Rain Listener is likely in this direction.”

Standing in front of him were Kaka and Six Shadows, with the former spreading his hands: ”This is my best advice. Of course, it’s best to claim complete victory in one fell swoop and avoid further trouble. But it is unwise to knowingly plunge into a big trouble, isn’t it?”

”Are you talking about the Elite?”

”I never said that; you guessed it yourself. Of course, I won’t rule out that possibility. You don’t have to worry so much. The outcome won’t change. This matter has been orchestrated for over a year, and victory won’t depend on a battle within the First World.”

”The outcome for the people of Rain Listening has been predetermined, of course. I’m not saying this battle was meaningless.” Kaka glanced at the dark forest with dead fish eyes while yawning and replied, ”It’s a problem if those people succeed, but since the higher powers have noticed, they obviously won’t allow them to achieve their goal easily.”

”But our informants have said, that thing is in the possession of Rain Listener’s Vice Chairman Grant.”

”Don’t talk about that thing,” Kaka jumped, hastily interrupting him: ”Neither our levels are high enough. This has nothing to do with us; it’s a matter for those above. If anything goes wrong, I’m not responsible. You’d better not interfere with anything outside your jurisdiction. It’s not good for you, and don’t drag me into it.”

”Kaka, you...” The short-haired Elf Girl listening to her companion’s usual shirking of responsibility, couldn’t help but feel somewhat speechless.

” What’s wrong with me?” the young man asked with an innocent face. He rubbed his messy hair and said lazily, ”I didn’t say anything, and you all didn’t hear anything, right? Alright, let’s change the subject. This time you inflicted heavy damage on the Rain Listener’s Elite Brigade, and your own losses were insignificant. You actually made a fortune, didn’t you?”

Six Shadows rolled her eyes, ”Putting gold on your own face.”

The power of Anlan and the Storm Brigade was comparable; the Blood Oath Alliance had achieved such a great victory this time, and the biggest contributor was naturally self-evident.

But the Captain of Anlan didn’t feel there was anything amiss; in fact, it was also the other party’s credit. He thought for a moment and then asked, ”What about the matter with Elite?”

”That’s the crux of the problem,” Six Shadows finally spoke up, ”At this point, we still can’t confirm whether they are indeed from Elite.”

”But it’s very likely,” Kaka interjected.

The Elf Girl glared at him, ”It’s also unclear why they intervened in the combat and what their relationship with the Rain Listeners really is. The best thing to do now is to simply relay the message back to headquarters and wait for the high-ups’ judgment and decision.”

She glanced at them, offering comfort, ”But you don’t need to worry, there probably won’t be any more twists with the Rain Listener’s affair.”

The other party gently shook his head, ”I’m not worried about that. What concerns me is what Fenris will become in the future. Honestly, I’m finding it increasingly difficult to see what the Guild really wants to do.”

”Captain, sir.”

”You don’t have to comfort me,” the Captain glanced at the two, ”You’ve heard about the Dragonfire Guild’s situation, right?”

Kaka and Six Shadows suddenly fell silent, exchanging looks.

There was an unusual silence among the three, until the latter’s crystal lit up again. The rustling voice that came from it broke the silence:

”Captain, we’ve run into some trouble.”

But the members of Anlan’s brigade weren’t the only ones facing trouble.

At the same time, Elisa realized she and her sisters had run into trouble. At first, the elder twin had hoped that Anlan’s people wouldn’t find them.

But she quickly realized that Fang Hong’s premonition was correct; she was Nightingale, possessing a perception even keener than a Ranger’s in the darkness.

So she quickly picked up on some odd traces around her, recognizing that there were others near herself and Alice, and they were very likely Nightingales from Anlan.

Her colleagues.

However, the other party’s skills were clearly superior to hers; she could only faintly sense that two people were nearby, but she had no idea of their specific direction or how close they were.

” Alice?” she whispered to her sister, ”How many?”

Elisa knew that, in terms of combat strength, her sister might not match her. Especially after acquiring the ”Dawn,” her skills ranked at least in the top ten within the Storm Brigade.

However, her sister had far more talent in scouting.

At that moment, however, she noticed her sister staring intently in one direction. Elisa looked over curiously, just in time to see a speck of starlight fly out from the direction of the Forest.

”Mr. Ade!?”

”Miss Elisa, Little Alice, I can see you.”

”Mr. Ade, be careful, there are Nightingales from Anlan nearby, possibly more than one.”

”More than one?” Fang Hong’s somewhat exaggerated voice came through the Communication Crystal, ”Miss Elisa, you’re too complacent. There’s at least a squad of people nearby.”

Elisa was taken aback, her face flushed with embarrassment.

She hadn’t expected that she, a dedicated Nightingale, would have made such a blunder. But after her face turned red, uneasiness set in.

A whole squad of people?

She couldn’t quite figure out how she could escape from an encirclement of so many people.
