A New Life in Fairy Tail

”Were you just using our magic?” Ultear was the first to ask.

”Mhm. Since you were all watching, and I’m a little stronger than you, I thought I’d use your own magic types. I was hoping it might give you some inspiration.”

”How come you didn’t use Dragon Slayer magic? I remember you learned it from me,” Natsu complained, noticing his magic was missing from the demonstration. Noah had indeed learned Fire Dragon Slayer magic from him, and he had also learned Sky Dragon Slayer magic from Wendy.

”I’m not using Dragon Slayer magic for the time being. But what did you think of my fire-attribute magic just now?”

”It was strong. But still not as good as Igneel’s,” Natsu said with a serious critique.

Noah rolled his eyes. ”First of all, my current strength can’t be compared to a full-grown dragon. Second, I was sparring with Laxus. If I increased the power any more, were you afraid I wouldn’t kill him?”

Natsu then remembered it was just a spar and laughed sheepishly. Laxus, who was resting nearby, shot him a dark look, making a mental note to ”show his concern” for Natsu later.

”As long as you keep practicing your Dragon Slayer magic, you’ll continue to get stronger, and fast,” Noah said to Natsu. ”But you should try to increase the temperature of your flames, and then compress them. That will make your magic much more powerful.”

”Increase temperature? Compress flames?” Natsu looked confused, clearly not understanding.

”Just try it out slowly. If you don’t get it, you can ask me,” Noah said. He then turned to Ultear and her group. ”What about you all? Any thoughts?”

Ultear smiled. ”Is it about the temperature, like you told my mother before?”

”Right. Whether it’s fire or ice, if you work on controlling the temperature, your magic will become much stronger. Higher temperature fire can burn through an enemy’s defense. Lower temperature ice makes the ice harder. And either way, changing the surrounding environment’s temperature can also disrupt your opponent’s movements.”

Ultear, Gray, and Lyon all nodded. Ever since they had heard Noah’s advice from Ur, they had been trying to control their ice’s temperature, and they had indeed found that the ice they created was much harder and more powerful. But as they compared it to the Ice-Make magic Noah had just used, they saw the gap was still massive. Whether it was casting speed, or the strength and power of his creations, Noah was far superior. And he didn’t even train Ice-Make magic that often. How was it so powerful when he used it?

Furthermore, the Ice Geyser he had just used had instantly dropped the surrounding temperature by dozens of degrees. They couldn’t do that. Ultear could achieve a similar effect after a long charge-up, but Noah had cast it instantly. The difference was obvious. This only spurred the three of them to work even harder, and the fighting spirit in Gray’s and Lyon’s eyes burned brighter. Ultear also had a look of determination; she didn’t want to be left so far behind by Noah.

Next, he looked at Sorano. ”After my improvements, your Angel Magic is much more versatile. But it also has a high magic cost, so you need to train your magic power more. Also, you need to pay attention to your summoning speed. You have to be fast, so you don’t give your opponent an opening.”

Sorano nodded seriously. Her magic was indeed much more functional now, but it was also a magic-eater. Her current reserves wouldn’t let her summon them many times, so magic power was her top priority.

”You can try to practice by continuously summoning low-power angels. That will train your summoning speed,” Noah suggested. Sorano nodded, committing the method to memory.

”Levy, you must practice your Solid Script constantly to increase your writing speed. Your magic has to be written to be activated, so your casting speed is extremely important.”

Levy nodded seriously. She already practiced her writing speed often, but after seeing the speed at which Noah had cast his own script magic, she realized she still had a lot of room for improvement.

”By the way, you should also practice casting your magic with your feet.”

”With my feet?!” Levy was shocked.

”That’s right,” Noah said, nodding seriously. ”You can’t guarantee that your hands will always be free to cast magic. Learning to cast with your feet is very beneficial. Erza has already started training to use a sword with her feet, and Ultear’s group is also training to use their feet for shaping magic.”

Hearing that so many others were already doing it, Levy quickly nodded, deciding she would start trying to cast Solid Script with her feet when she got back.

”Damn that Erza, secretly practicing special moves! I have to train too!” Mirajane, hearing this, immediately got fired up, not wanting to be outdone.

”Erza, I know your Requip magic, but my own skill with weapons is not very high. When we spar, I always lose to you in swordsmanship. You’re already better than me at using weapons, so you just need to continue your training. But if you want to spar, you can always come to me. I’ll be your training partner.”

Erza nodded seriously. Her combat style was already becoming her own, using various armors to give her different abilities to adapt to any environment. If she could spar against someone like Noah, who could use so many different types of magic, her strength would improve even faster.

”Mirajane, I know your Take Over magic, but I’ve never used it. Taking over normal animals and beasts wouldn’t do much for my strength, and I don’t have your special ability to take over a demon. Although your demon form is very strong, the magic cost is huge. I often see you run out of magic after just a few uses. If you want to get stronger, you must increase your magic capacity so you can maintain your Take Over for longer. Your strength in that form is immense; as long as you can extend the time, you’ll be even more powerful.”

”Mhm.” Although Mirajane was hot-tempered these days, she still respected Noah, who had taught her the magic. And since this was a way for her to get stronger, she agreed.

”Kagura, for your Gravity Magic, you just need to keep increasing its intensity. For swordsmanship, you should learn from Erza; her skills are better than mine. But you can’t slack off on your foundational training. You have to train both your magic and your body.”

”Mhm, I know,” Kagura replied with a serious expression.
