A New Life in Fairy Tail

”Alright then. You should go to bed soon, too. I’ll go to sleep after I clean up here.”

”Mhm, I’m going to bed now. You get some sleep soon,” Erza said before heading back to her room.

After Noah had finished cleaning up, he thought for a moment and decided to sleep in the living room as well, just in case anything happened. He adjusted the slightly crooked blanket on Wendy, and then lay down on the other sofa.

The night passed peacefully. Early the next morning, Noah was awakened by a nearby sound. He opened his eyes and saw that Wendy was already up and had even washed her face. The sleepiness from just waking up was completely gone. It was clear she hadn’t slept as soundly as usual and had woken up very early. She was now sitting in a chair, staring blankly at the egg on the table.

Hearing the sound from the side, Wendy was startled. She turned and saw it was Noah getting up. Her face turned red, and she said apologetically, ”Big Brother Noah, did I wake you? I’m sorry!”

”It’s fine. I usually get up around this time anyway. So, any changes with your egg?”

”No changes at all.” Wendy turned back to the egg.

Noah retracted his Thought Projection. Seeing the worried look on her face, he comforted her. ”Don’t worry too much. You saw Natsu’s egg, didn’t you? After we knew it was going to hatch, it hatched within a day. Since your egg didn’t hatch last night, it should hatch today.”

Hearing Noah’s words, Wendy relaxed a little.

Soon, Erza, the Sorano sisters, and the Simon siblings all got up. After they ate breakfast, Ultear’s group, the Mirajane siblings, Natsu with Happy, and Levy all began to arrive at Noah’s house. They had all heard that Wendy’s egg was going to hatch today and had come to join in the excitement. Noah even went and got Laxus and Reedus. Since all the other young members were here, of course they had to come too.

With everyone gathered together, there was all sorts of chatting and roughhousing. Thankfully, Erza was keeping an eye on Natsu and Gray, and Mirajane didn’t start a fight with Erza in Noah’s house, so they spent a relatively peaceful morning.

Wendy, Yukino, and Kagura sat around the egg, chatting and occasionally checking it for any changes. Sorano sat next to her sister, hugging her, and listened to their conversation. Natsu, Gray, and Lyon were being watched by both Erza and Ultear, so the three of them were trembling and didn’t dare to start a fight. Simon and Laxus were chatting in a corner. Levy had asked where Noah’s library was as soon as she arrived and had excitedly run off to read. Noah sent a Thought Projection to accompany her. Lisanna was giving Mirajane and Elfman a tour of the house, with Noah himself accompanying them. Reedus, meanwhile, was drawing the scene.

The morning passed in a flurry of activity. At noon, Noah went to the kitchen to cook. Erza, Ultear, and Simon helped him. Elfman and Lisanna also came into the kitchen to help. Mirajane put on an apron and also came to help cook, which stunned everyone. This made her so embarrassed and angry that she almost started a fight, but Erza and Ultear quickly held her back.

The rest of them were either too young or didn’t know how to cook, so they could only set the table.

After a great deal of effort, lunch was finally ready. Everyone sat down to eat. Levy, Reedus, and Mirajane, who were eating at Noah’s house for the first time, were silent. They had discovered that the most delicious dishes were all made by Noah.

Mirajane had originally been very confident in her cooking skills, and everyone’s ”You can cook?!” expressions had deeply provoked her. She had shown off her skills in the kitchen, making a lot of dishes to impress everyone. But after tasting Noah’s food, and then tasting Erza’s, Ultear’s, and Simon’s, she was completely silent. Noah’s cooking was the best, Erza’s and Ultear’s were much better than hers, and even Simon’s was about on par with her own. She had suffered a huge blow.

Seeing her like this, Erza patted her on the shoulder. ”Actually, our cooking used to be just barely edible. It wasn’t very good. It was only after Noah taught us that we got better and better.”

”Noah taught you?” Mirajane asked, unable to stop herself. She knew he was incredible at magic and strong in a fight, but she hadn’t known he was also this good at cooking.

Lisanna and Elfman, who had also just tasted everyone’s cooking, perked up their ears and looked at Erza with the same question.

Erza nodded. ”That’s right. The best cook here is Noah. He doesn’t just research magic; he also loves to research cooking. Over the years, his skills have gotten better and better, and those of us who usually help him have also improved.”

”Mira-nee, why don’t we learn how to cook from Noah too?” Lisanna’s eyes were sparkling as she looked at her sister. She was very interested in improving her cooking.

Mirajane hesitated.

”Of course, you’re more than welcome,” Noah said, having overheard their conversation. ”I’d love to have someone to research cooking with.”

”Noah already agreed! Let’s all do it together! Elf-niichan too,” Lisanna said happily to Mirajane.

After a moment’s hesitation, Mirajane pretended to be nonchalant and agreed. ”Since you’re asking, Lisanna, I guess I’ll learn from him.”

”Thank you, Noah,” Elfman said sincerely.

”Thank you, Noah!” Lisanna added.

”Then you can come here around 10:30 in the morning and 6:00 in the evening to learn,” Noah said, setting a time for them.

Over at the other side of the table, Natsu and Gray had both grabbed the same piece of meat, and neither was willing to let go.

”I saw it first!”

”I grabbed it first!”

”What, you wanna fight?!”

”You’re on!”

Just as Natsu and Gray were about to stand up, Erza’s sharp gaze fell upon them. The two of them immediately sat up straight in their chairs and began to be overly polite to each other.

”You can have this piece of meat.”

”No, no, you have it.”

”Mhm. Everyone should get along nicely and not fight,” Erza said with a satisfied nod, then turned back to chat with the others. The moment she wasn’t looking at them, they both dropped their polite act, snorted ”Hmph!”, and turned away from each other.

After everyone had finished eating, those who hadn’t helped cook went to help wash the dishes. Wendy and Yukino had also wanted to help, but everyone told them they were too young and just had them help tidy up the table and chairs.

Once everything was cleaned up, everyone sat on the sofas in the living room, patting their full bellies and not wanting to move.
