A New Life in Fairy Tail

When they entered the guild, Noah and his group greeted the members who were already there. Everyone’s attention was immediately drawn to the incubator in Wendy’s arms.

”Isn’t that Natsu’s egg Wendy’s holding? He’s so protective of it, how did she get it?”

”Are you blind? The patterns are completely different. That’s not Natsu’s egg.”

”That’s right, the patterns are different. But where did Wendy find her egg?”

”Why don’t you just ask?”

Gray turned to Wendy, who had just placed the incubator on a table. ”Wendy, where did your egg come from?”

”An old man that Big Brother Noah and I know gave it to me.”

Gray nodded and was about to say something else when Natsu’s voice roared from the guild’s entrance.

”WHO WAS IT?! WHO STOLE IT?!”

Natsu ran in, fuming. Gray was the first to ask, ”Is the egg missing?”

”I don’t know,” Ultear said.

”It wasn’t me,” Lyon added.

Natsu charged straight up to Laxus, who happened to be taking a day off. ”Laxus, was it you—!!”

”It wasn’t me.” Laxus shook his head.

Natsu spun around and rushed over to Erza. ”Erza!! Spit it out!!”

”Hey—don’t you think you’re jumping to conclusions a little too quickly?” Erza looked at the furious Natsu, completely speechless.

Just then, Natsu spotted the incubator in front of Wendy and pounced. ”That’s my egg!!”

Noah, who was standing nearby, sent him to the floor with a single punch. ”Look carefully. The pattern on your egg is different from Wendy’s.”

Natsu climbed up from the floor and took a closer look. He finally saw that the pattern on this egg was indeed different from his own; it didn’t have the dragon claw marking.

Lisanna, who had come in with Natsu, was now asking her sister, ”Mira-nee, you don’t know?”

”How should I know? Maybe you ate it yourself, Natsu!” Mirajane said, smiling maliciously.

Natsu, already agitated, was pushed over the edge by her comment. ”What did you say?!” He charged at her and threw a punch.

”You wanna fight, Natsu?! I won’t hold back!!” Mirajane caught his fist, and the two of them started brawling. Their fight sent Gray flying.

”Natsu!! You bastard!!” The enraged Gray charged in and joined the fight.

”All of you, stop it!” Erza, seeing this, rushed over to break them up.

”This looks like fun. I’ll join in too,” Sorano said, looking eager.

Yukino grabbed her clothes, trying to stop her. ”Don’t go and make more trouble, Sister!”

The four of them were now locked in a chaotic brawl. Macao and Wakaba watched from the side with a sigh. ”Those brats are at it again.”

”This generation is terrifying. I can’t even imagine what the guild will be like in a few years.”

”It’s precisely because they acknowledge each other that they challenge each other,” Makarov said, watching the fight with a smile. ”They’ll come to understand each other better this way. There’s no need to worry.”

”You’re not worried, Gramps? About the repair costs when they’re older...” Noah said grimly from the side.

Makarov’s smile froze. He imagined the future, and a look of pain crossed his face. ”Don’t make me think about such painful things! Just let me have a few more happy years!”

The smile then transferred from Makarov’s face to Noah’s.

Erza finally stopped the fight. Natsu, still worried about his egg, stood to the side with his head down, tears welling up in his eyes. ”Where did my egg go...?”

”Don’t cry, Natsu. It’s so cute,” Mirajane said with a smirk.

”I’m not crying!!” Natsu shot back, his face red.

”Don’t be so sarcastic, Mira,” Erza said, then turned to Natsu. ”Alright, alright, Natsu, don’t cry.”

”I told you I’m not crying!” Natsu retorted.

Erza then looked at Mirajane with a serious expression. ”It’s about time you gave him back the egg.”

”I told you I didn’t take it! Maybe you’re the one who stole it and ate it?” Mirajane shot back, annoyed.

”What did you say, you bastard!”

Seeing that no one knew where the egg was, Lisanna’s eyes also began to fill with tears. ”The egg—”

”Natsu, Lisanna... I’m sorry!”

A voice came from the side. Everyone turned in surprise and saw Elfman walking slowly towards them, holding Natsu’s egg in his hands.

”The egg!!”

”Elfman?!”

Natsu was the first to react, followed by everyone else.

”I didn’t steal it. It must be hard for just the two of you to take care of it. And it gets cold at night. Natsu moves around a lot in his sleep and he kicked the egg aside.”

”Then... does that mean—”

”Mhm. But I’m not very good at my magic, and I was embarrassed, so I did it in secret.”

”So that’s what happened!!”

”Thank you, Elf-niichan!!” Lisanna cried.

Elfman handed the egg back to Natsu, who accepted it with a joyous expression. ”Elfman, you’re a real man!!”

Elfman just smiled shyly. In the back, Mirajane turned to Erza. ”Honestly, you suspected me, didn’t you?”

”Weren’t you the same?”

Suddenly, the egg in Natsu’s arms twitched, and a crack appeared on its surface. He quickly placed it on the ground. Everyone heard the sound and gathered around.

”It’s—hatching!!”

”Woah!!”

The egg began to shake more and more violently. More and more cracks appeared, and pieces of the shell began to fall off.

”Hey, make some room!!”

”Idiot, don’t push!!”

The guild members in the back were all trying to get a better look, pushing and shoving each other.

As more and more of the shell fell away, the egg suddenly cracked wide open. A ball of blue light shot out and flew into the air. When the light faded, a blue cat with white wings was revealed.

”A cat?!” Macao, Wakaba, and the other adults were stunned.

”Waah!!” Natsu and the other younger members, however, looked at the cat in the air with pure delight.

The blue cat wobbled in the air as everyone below discussed it.

”It has wings... is it a bird?”

”No, it’s a cat... a blue cat.”

After flying around unsteadily for a bit, as if drunk, the blue cat finally landed on top of Natsu’s head.
