A New Life in Fairy Tail

The moment Noah leaped away, the magic circle on the ground erupted, unleashing a massive amount of lightning at him. Noah, still in the air, clapped his hands together, and a blue magic circle appeared in front of him, followed by a giant ice shield.

”Ice-Make: Shield!”

The shield tanked all the incoming lightning without a single scratch. Then, without changing his hand seals, Noah gave a slight push forward. The ice shield instantly broke apart into a barrage of ice lances that shot towards Laxus with a sharp whistling sound.

”Ice-Make: Lancer!”

Laxus, seeing the fierce power of the incoming ice, didn’t try to block. He dodged to the side as the lances, trailing wind, plunged deep into the ground and disappeared from sight. After dodging, he countered with a powerful lightning bolt.

Noah saw the attack coming, ducked under it, and slammed both his hands on the ground.

”Ice-Make: Geyser!”

A large, blue magic circle appeared under Laxus. He immediately wreathed his body in lightning to boost his speed and leaped out of the circle’s range. An instant later, a massive eruption of ice, like a geyser, burst from the magic circle, forming a large iceberg. The protective barrier didn’t block the temperature, and in an instant, the air inside and outside the arena dropped to several dozen degrees below zero. The sudden cold made most of the spectators shiver, with the exception of Natsu and Ur’s disciples, who weren’t as bothered.

Seeing that he had missed, Noah didn’t stop. He pushed off the ground, raising his right hand as he stood up, and a red magic circle appeared beneath Laxus.

”Lava’s Breath!”

Laxus, having just landed, was forced to jump away again. The next second, a blast of scorching hot lava erupted from the magic circle. The temperature, which had just plummeted, now shot back up. Laxus, being the closest, felt the heat most intensely, and sweat began to form on his forehead. The nearby iceberg began to melt, the ground cracked from the heat, and a powerful, hot wind blasted outwards.

The spectators outside the barrier were forced back by the heatwave. Seeing this, Noah couldn’t help but mutter, ”I need to add temperature shielding to the barrier later. I can’t have the temperature changes affecting the outside.”

Seeing that Noah was distracted, Laxus made his move. Wreathed in lightning, he instantly closed the distance, appearing in front of Noah in a flash.

Noah, seeing Laxus in his face, wasn’t flustered. He leaped backward, a magic circle appearing in front of him. ”Enchantment: Impact!”

The enchanted air formed a shockwave that blasted towards Laxus. He was too close to dodge and had no choice but to cross his arms, flood his body with magic power, and take the hit head-on.

BOOM!

The powerful shockwave sent him flying back over ten meters, carving a huge trench in the ground as he went. Laxus, having blocked the attack, was panting heavily; it had clearly done a number on him.

”Solid Script: Fire!”

Noah’s right hand quickly wrote in the air. The word ”FIRE” appeared and then shot towards Laxus, who was just getting to his feet. Laxus reacted by thrusting out his right hand and firing a bolt of lightning.

BOOM!

Lightning and fire collided, causing a large explosion. Smoke and dust filled the air, blocking both of their views. When the smoke cleared, both of them were already preparing their next move.

”Angel Magic: Shamsiel!”

”Roar of the Thunder Dragon!”

The light cannon from the angel and Laxus’s roar collided in mid-air. They were in a stalemate for a few seconds as shockwaves pulsed outwards, sending debris flying. The two spells, locked in a struggle, finally exploded.

BOOM!

The powerful explosion blasted a large crater in the ground, and dust once again filled the arena. Laxus had just taken two breaths when he felt an immense magical pressure from the other side. Noah was casting another spell.

Laxus couldn’t pinpoint the direction of the attack, so he immediately cloaked himself in lightning and began to run.

SHOOOM!

Suddenly, a hole was torn in the rolling dust cloud. A crimson, high-temperature ray shot through the smoke, striking the spot where Laxus had been a moment before. The ray, having missed, hit the ground.

BOOM!

The instant the ray hit the ground, a massive explosion occurred. All the energy contained within the ray was released at once, creating a giant, spherical blast. The resulting shockwave slammed into the protective barrier, causing the formulas on it to light up as they worked to withstand the impact. The ground around the blast zone began to crack and shatter, and a massive amount of-earthen in the shockwave. The temperature, which had just begun to cool, shot up again, even faster and more intense than before. The remains of the iceberg instantly vaporized.

The spectators were forced back even further, their mouths agape at the sheer power.

When the explosion finally subsided, an extremely large crater, at least several dozen meters deep and wide, was left in the ground. Thankfully, the barrier had held, and Noah had written formulas to weaken the spell’s impact on the ground, otherwise the explosion would have been even stronger.

”You... you bastard! Were you trying to kill me?!” Laxus panted from the side. He had used a massive amount of stamina and magic power in that last series of dodges and counter-attacks. After recovering slightly, he asked the question that was on everyone’s mind.

”How could I? My attack was so obvious. I deliberately let my magic overflow so you could sense it and dodge. If you had sensed that much magic and still tried to take it head-on instead of dodging, I would have had to check your head to see if you had brain damage,” Noah replied.

Laxus, hearing this, had no response. He just stood there, panting, trying to recover.

”You all can come in, too,” Noah said, waving to the spectators. He used his teleportation magic and brought them all inside the arena. The moment they arrived, they were hit by the residual heat, and Ultear and the others immediately started glaring at him.

Noah slapped his forehead and, with a wave of his hand, sent a flurry of ice crystals into the air, quickly bringing the temperature back to normal.

”So, what did you think of my magic? This,” Noah said with a flourish, ”is what I can just barely call ’dancing with magic’.”
