She Used Me for a Dare… Now I Own Her Mother

Chapter 172: Divine Catalyst

Note:

The previous Chapter has been revised. Please re-read it before this one... the updates change key details.

Alex watched his skills evolve one by one, Level 1 melting into Level 2, and the full weight of what that meant slammed into him.

His eyes widened... relief and excitement sparking together... as he shot a look at Lilith, who was already grinning like she’d been waiting for that exact reaction.

”Holy shit,” he breathed. ”These skill upgrades... they just saved me from so much trouble.”

Lilith’s smile turned knowing. ”Oh?”

”If I’d tried to use my Level 1 skills on someone who’d transcended mortal limitations...” Alex ran a hand through his hair, a slightly hysterical laugh escaping. ”Like Victor’s group, or anyone at their level... they would have noticed immediately, wouldn’t they?”

”Absolutely,” Lilith confirmed, her eyes dancing with amusement at his realization.

”And the outcome...” Alex continued, his mind racing through the implications. ”It wouldn’t have been good. At best, I’d have been embarrassed. At worst...”

”At worst, they’d have recognized you as a threat operating above your capabilities and dealt with you accordingly,” Lilith finished. ”Transcendent beings don’t take kindly to mortals trying to manipulate them with parlor tricks.”

She moved closer, her expression shifting to something more serious.

”But now? Your Level 2 skills work on targets one stage above you. You won’t just be ineffective... you’ll be dangerous. Legitimate. Someone they have to actually respect.”

Alex felt a surge of gratitude so intense it almost overwhelmed him.

”The system really did think of everything,” he murmured.

”The system rewards those worthy of its power,” Lilith said softly.

Then her expression shifted again, becoming something else entirely.

Predatory.

Something that made Alex’s breath catch.

Her form seemed to shimmer slightly, divine essence barely contained, and when she moved it was with liquid grace that made his enhanced perception struggle to track.

”Allow me to give you the most important reward of the night,” she whispered, the scent of cinnamon and night-blooming flowers warming the small distance between them.

Her smile turned wicked as her eyes locked onto his, a slow, deliberate focus that made his enhanced Charm feel almost insignificant in comparison.

For a heartbeat, Alex forgot about stats, rewards, even breathing. There was only her.

Then.

She bit her bottom lip.

Not hard. Just enough pressure to break the divine skin.

A single drop of blood welled up... not red, but gold. Liquid light that seemed to glow with its own inner radiance, carrying power Alex could feel from where he stood.

Golden blood.

Divine essence made manifest.

Alex stood frozen, staring at that single drop of impossible liquid, his mind struggling to process what he was seeing.

Then Lilith moved.

Faster than his enhanced perception could track, faster than thought, she closed the distance and captured his lips with hers.

Alex’s eyes went wide with shock...

...and then the golden drop entered his mouth.

The effect was instantaneous.

Heat exploded through his system like liquid fire, burning along every nerve, every cell, every molecule of his being.

His mind screamed that he was burning alive, that this impossible heat would consume him entirely, that he would die right here in his apartment with a goddess’s lips pressed against his.

He tried to scream, tried to pull away...

But Lilith held him firm. One hand cupped the back of his head, the other pressed against his chest, her divine strength absolute as she kept their lips locked together, kept the golden essence flowing into him, kept him from thrashing away from the transformation.

The burning intensified.

His vision went white.

His muscles seized.

His mind fractured...

And then, as suddenly as it began, the pain shifted.

The burning didn’t stop, but it changed. Became purposeful. Deliberate. Like his entire body was being unmade and remade, broken down and rebuilt according to a design that transcended human biology.

He stopped struggling.

His breathing steadied.

And Lilith finally pulled back, her wine-dark eyes gleaming with satisfaction as she released him.

The interface blazed in his vision, and Alex could feel it starting... his body temperature spiking, his skin beginning to sweat toxins, impurities being burned away by the divine essence now flowing through his veins.

”Shower,” Lilith said, her voice still carrying that seductive purr despite the clinical necessity of her words.

”Now. You need to wash away everything human that’s being purged. And the cold water will help with the heat.”

Alex nodded, not trusting his voice, and moved toward his bathroom on legs that felt both weak and stronger than they’d ever been.

As he reached the door, he heard Lilith’s voice behind him... soft, satisfied, dripping with something between maternal pride and predatory hunger.

”Delicious...”

He glanced back just in time to see her lick her lips slowly, seductively, her eyes tracking his movement with an intensity that made something primal in him want to either run or return to her.

He stumbled into the bathroom, his body radiating heat like a furnace. His hands shook as he turned the shower on full blast, cold water cascading down.

He didn’t bother removing his clothes gradually... he tore them off, fabric ripping under hands that felt like they could crush steel.

Then he stepped under the spray.

The cold water hit his superheated skin and instantly turned to steam, hissing as it evaporated against his burning body.

But slowly, gradually, his temperature began to stabilize. The water stopped steaming. Started actually touching his skin.

And that’s when he felt it.

Power.

Not the abstract concept he’d grown used to... the system notifications, the skill upgrades, the enhanced capabilities that had become familiar over months of missions.

This was visceral. Physical. Real.

It surged through him like a living thing, flowing through muscles that felt denser, stronger, more responsive than they’d ever been.

His heartbeat thundered in his ears... not from exertion but from the sheer force of blood pumping through enhanced vessels.

He flexed his hand under the water, and watched in fascination as muscle fibers moved with precision that seemed almost mechanical. No wasted motion. No inefficiency. Just pure, controlled power.

His breathing steadied, and he noticed that too... lungs processing oxygen with an efficiency that made every breath feel like taking in pure energy.

Alex pressed his palm against the shower wall, testing, and immediately pulled back as the tile cracked under what he’d thought was gentle pressure.

”Holy shit,” he breathed.

His vision sharpened suddenly, and he could see individual water droplets suspended in the air, could track their trajectory from the showerhead to his skin with perfect clarity. Could see the molecular structure of the steam still rising from his body.

And his mind...

Thoughts crystallized with a speed and clarity that made his previous mental state feel like wading through mud. He could see patterns in the water flow, calculate trajectories, process multiple streams of information simultaneously without effort.

This wasn’t just enhanced.

This was transcendent.

Then the system interface blazed to life before his eyes, golden text sharp and clear even through the falling water.

Alex felt it happening as he watched the numbers climb. Not just saw it on the interface... felt it in his body, his mind, his very being.

Body 21... 22... 23...

Each increment brought physical changes. His muscles didn’t bulk dramatically, but they became denser, harder, more efficient. He could feel his skeleton reinforcing itself, bones becoming something beyond calcium and marrow. His skin took on a subtle vitality that made it look more alive, more present.

Mind 21... 22... 23...

His thoughts accelerated. The steam patterns in the shower became mathematical equations he solved without trying. He could feel his brain rewiring itself, neural pathways forming at impossible speeds, creating connections that unlocked capabilities he’d never imagined.

He understood things now. Complex things. The water pressure differential, the thermal dynamics of steam, the molecular bonds in the tile he’d cracked—all of it was just... knowable. Accessible. Simple.

Charm 21... 22... 23...

This one was harder to quantify, but he felt it nonetheless. His presence seemed to expand beyond his physical body, like an invisible field that pressed against the walls of the bathroom. His reflection in the water-streaked mirror caught his eye, and even he had to admit something had changed in his appearance.

Not his features... those were the same.

But the way he inhabited his body. The confidence in his stance. The intensity in his eyes that seemed to see through surface appearances to something deeper.

He looked... magnetic. Compelling. Like someone you couldn’t help but notice when they entered a room.

Body 28... 29... 30.

Mind 28... 29... 30.

Charm 28... 29... 30.
