She Used Me for a Dare… Now I Own Her Mother

Chapter 171: Reward of the Worthy(Re-Written)

Lilith’s eyes sparkled with a thrill she didn’t bother to hide.

”Now, shall we get to the good part? The part where you find out what refusing a billion dollars and godlike power actually earned you?”

Alex blinked. ”Wait. There are still rewards?I thought... ”

The question came out more surprised than he’d intended.

Honestly, he’d been so focused on Linda being safe, on the family staying intact, on not becoming corrupted... the idea of rewards hadn’t even crossed his mind.

He’d pressed that button believing he would lose everything.

That was the whole point, wasn’t it?

Lilith’s smile widened into something absolutely wicked, her eyes dancing with barely contained glee.

She looked like a child on Christmas morning who knew exactly what presents were hidden under the tree and could barely wait to see someone else’s reaction to them.

”Oh, sweetheart,” she purred, leaning forward with an expression of pure, delicious anticipation. ”You have no idea.”

She gestured, and the golden interface shimmered to life between them, but instead of displaying information immediately, it seemed to pulse with potential, waiting.

”You experienced the cruelty of this system,” Lilith said, her voice dropping to something more serious despite the joy still radiating from her.

”The impossible tests. The manipulations. The way it pushed you toward corruption while threatening to take everything away.”

Her wine-dark eyes locked onto his, intense and knowing.

”But now?” Her smile returned, slow and satisfied. ”Now you get to see the generosity it shows to the chosen one.”

She snapped her fingers, and the interface exploded into brilliant detail.

[PARADOX DETECTED]

”Paradox?” Alex read aloud.

”The beautiful contradiction,” Lilith explained, eyes gleaming. ”You refused power through corruption, which proved you were worthy of power through merit. You sacrificed everything for integrity, which proved you deserved everything.”

She shifted closer, clearly unable to contain her excitement.

Alex stared at the words, trying to process what they meant. His mind was still catching up, still struggling with the whiplash from ”I lost everything” to ”I get rewards anyway?”

Lilith placed a hand on his arm, and for all her playfulness, her voice carried absolute sincerity.

”Yes, you’re getting rewarded. That singular moment of absolute integrity? It earned you something far more valuable than any corruption could ever give.”

She pulled back, her expression shifting to barely contained glee again.

[Since Host Passed The Final Test, All Rewards From The Mission Will Be Granted With Added Bonus Accordingly]

All the rewards?

Alex felt a spark of thrill shoot through him.

He leaned forward slightly, eyes fixed on the interface as he waited in tense anticipation. New text began appearing... line after line... each one more impossible than the last.

Lilith clasped her hands together, practically vibrating with excitement.

”Ohhh, this is going to be fun.”

She just sat there watching his face, her satisfaction so profound it was almost tangible, her expression that of someone who’d waited nine hundred years to see this exact reaction and was savoring every second of it.

The golden interface shimmered between them, expanding into something far more comprehensive than Alex had ever seen.

[MASTER STATUS: ALEXANDER HALE]

[MISSION: REFUSED CORRUPTION]

[INTEGRITY VERIFIED]

”Before we get to the new rewards,” Lilith began, her eyes dancing, ”let me show you where you were when you pressed that button.”

The interface shifted, displaying his previous status.

[DOMINION SYSTEM – LEVEL 1.0]

[CORE STATS – PEAK HUMAN BASELINE]

• Body - 20/20

• Mind - 20/20

• Charm - 20/20

[Note: 20 represents peak performance achievable by elite human specialists]

[WEALTH]

[Other Assets: $25M]

”Peak human,” Lilith explained, gesturing to the numbers. ”You’d reached the absolute ceiling of what a normal human body and mind could achieve. Olympic athletes, genius intellects, master manipulators... they top out at 20.”

She smiled, slow and wicked.

”But you’re not going to be a normal human anymore, are you?”

Lilith gestured, and the interface began to transform.

”Now, let’s see what refusing a billion dollars and godlike power actually earned you.”

[MISSION REWARDS: GRANTED]

The interface pulsed with golden light, each word appearing with ceremonial weight.

[ADVANCE NOW]

Alex stared at the buttons floating in his vision, his mind struggling to catch up with what he was seeing.

[WEALTH UPDATE]

Previous: $25,000,000

Bonus: +$1,000,000,000

Current: $1,025,000,000

”Check your phone,” Lilith suggested with barely contained glee. ”I want to see your face when you confirm it’s real.”

With trembling hands that had nothing to do with fear and everything to do with overwhelming disbelief, Alex pulled out his phone.

Account Balance: $1,025,000,000.00

The number sat there on the screen. Real. Tangible. Undeniable.

One billion. Twenty-five million dollars.

His billion.

For a long moment, Alex just stared at it, his thumb hovering over the screen as if touching it might make the number disappear. As if this was all some elaborate hallucination brought on by exhaustion and emotional overload.

But the number didn’t change. Didn’t flicker. Didn’t vanish.

It just sat there, impossible and real, staring back at him.

”Oh my god,” he breathed, tue words barely audible. ”It’s real. It’s actually real.”

”I’m a billionaire...” His voice cracked. ”A fucking billionaire.”

The statement felt surreal leaving his lips. Like speaking a foreign language. Like claiming to be something from a different species entirely.

It wasn’t as if he didn’t know what the rewards would be.

Back when Lilith had first offered him the corruption mission, he’d seen the reward list:

the billion dollars... the breakthrough into the next stage... the system’s level-up.

Back then, those rewards had felt distant, tainted... power offered with a poisoned hook.

But now?

Seeing those same numbers clean, earned without corruption, sitting in his account... the disbelief hit even harder.

He knew money wasn’t the greatest power in this world... not after everything he’d witnessed, not after gods, systems, and ascension entered the picture. But it was still one of the most desirable forms of power a one could hold.

And only he knew how badly he’d needed it.

And now...?

With a billion sitting in his account, his future didn’t just look easier—it looked limitless.

He could pay off the six villas outright without blinking.

He could secure his future, build something unimaginable, change lives... including his own.

”I could do anything.”

The weight of that realization hit him like a physical blow. Not the money itself, but what it represented.

The choices it gave him. The security. The power to help the people he cared about without worrying about the cost.

His breath left him in a shaky exhale.

This wasn’t just money.

This was freedom.

”Delicious, isn’t it?” Lilith teased, visibly relishing every second of his disbelief, her grin absolutely radiant. ”You’re officially a billionaire now.”

She clapped her hands together in delight.

”And that’s just the money! Now comes the fun part.”

The interface pulsed again, and new text began appearing.

[INTEGRITY BONUS REWARDS: CALCULATING...]

[HOST DEMONSTRATED ABSOLUTE CORRUPTION RESISTANCE]

[ADDITIONAL BONUSES UNLOCKED]

[ALL SKILLS UPGRADED TO LEVEL 2]

”Wait,” Alex muttered, eyes narrowing as he scanned the upgraded skills. ”Level 2...? So what exactly does that do now? Level 1 was already crazy... this should be interesting.”

Lilith’s smile turned knowing, almost predatory.

”Ah, now we get to the really important part.” She settled back into the couch, clearly enjoying playing teacher. ”You see, darling, at Level 1, your skills were impressive... for dealing with mortals.”

She held up one finger.

”Normal humans. Peak humans. Even enhanced humans who haven’t crossed the threshold. Your Silver Tongue could persuade them, your Elite Presence could dominate them, your abilities worked beautifully.”

Her expression became more serious.

”But the moment you encountered someone who’d transcended mortal limitations... someone like Victor and his group... your skills would have been...” She made a so-so gesture with her hand. ”Significantly less effective. Possibly useless.”

Lilith waved her hand with a flourish, as his skill list materialized, each one transforming before his eyes
