Chapter 302: Chapter 311: The Terrifying Heaven-shattering Thunder

As soon as the middle-aged man in golden armor finished speaking, the black barrel on that giant war vehicle emitted a loud explosion!

”Boom!” A fireball the size of a washbasin shot toward the incoming Celestial Dragon Empire’s army with a speed that was nearly invisible to the naked eye.

The huge fireball instantly landed among the crowd. However, many soldiers began to dodge quickly when the fireball was fired, because Luo Ping had warned everyone about its massive area of destruction.

Some people even had their water bags ready. When the fireball hit the ground, it made another loud noise, and then a huge burst of flames shot out, covering a radius of dozens of meters.

The impact from the fireball’s explosion shook the entire ground as if an earthquake had occurred, and even Luo Ping and others on the city wall could distinctly feel the intense vibration.

Although the soldiers of the Celestial Dragon Empire were prepared, the Heaven-shattering Thunder was too fast and extremely powerful. Especially, within a three-meter radius of the point of detonation, no one survived, and finding a body was terrifyingly impossible.

A pit about three meters wide and several meters deep appeared on the ground, with the soil instantly turning to dust and mingling with the surroundings.

The flames that shot out quickly began to burn on the surface, with the scorching heat causing the air to crackle, as if it were about to catch fire.

Hundreds of soldiers were engulfed by the flames and turned to ash in an instant, with countless cries and screams resonating on the battlefield, creating a shocking scene.

Some soldiers were not hit by the flames, yet the heat was as intense as the Fire Flame, making many wish for death. If it weren’t for their water bags breaking and lowering the temperature, they might have been roasted alive by the heat.

Just this one Heaven-shattering Thunder caused nearly a thousand deaths and over two thousand injuries among the Celestial Dragon Empire’s forces, with half of them losing their fighting capability.

For the Celestial Dragon Empire, these were heavy casualties, but for the Sea Dragon Empire, it was just a drizzle. Several generals in golden armor couldn’t believe their eyes seeing this scene.

A single Heaven-shattering Thunder was supposed to kill at least three thousand and severely injure more than five thousand, yet only a thousand died and over two thousand were injured, far from the expected effect.

”What is happening? How does the Celestial Dragon Empire know to dodge quickly when the Heaven-shattering Thunder is launched, and why are their soldiers keeping greater distances from each other? Could someone know about our secret weapon?” a general asked.

”That should be impossible; it might just be luck. Now that we’ve seen the effect of the Heaven-shattering Thunder, it will surely incite fear in them. This is our best moment to continue launching and bomb these guys to death,” another person said.

”Continue firing the Heaven-shattering Thunder and blow those Celestial Dragon Empire scum to bits!” the general immediately ordered.

Soon, the deafening noise once again resounded across the vast battlefield.

Having witnessed the first appearance of the Heaven-shattering Thunder, the Celestial Dragon Empire’s soldiers were more experienced. When they saw the fireball coming, they fled quickly. Although hundreds to a thousand died each time, the number of wounded was noticeably reduced.

It went from over two thousand injured to over a thousand, and by the time the fifth Heaven-shattering Thunder was launched, the death toll decreased to less than seven or eight, and the injured were reduced to about a thousand, leaving the Sea Dragon Empire baffled.

Luo Ping and the other generals were greatly shocked by the Heaven-shattering Thunder’s power, even though Chu Linfeng and Meng Ji had already told him about its power, hearing and seeing it firsthand were two different things, with the latter being significantly more overwhelming.

Luckily, Meng Ji had mentioned a countermeasure before leaving, otherwise, a direct attack would have resulted in at least tens of thousands of deaths and casualties.

If the army hadn’t retreated, the unimaginable casualties in a sea of people would have been beyond estimation, and Chu Linfeng and Meng Ji truly saved the empire once more.

”Grand General, thank goodness you ordered the retreat; otherwise, who knows how many brothers would have died. Fortunately, you had the foresight, or the empire might have faced a threat of defeat this time,” a general beside Luo Ping said.

Luo Ping felt a bit embarrassed upon hearing this, as it wasn’t his own achievement at all, but entirely the advice of Chu Linfeng and Meng Ji. It was indeed fortunate for the empire to have such individuals.

”In fact, no one expected the other side to have such a powerful firearm. By the time I got the news, it was already too late; otherwise, the losses would have been much reduced,” Luo Ping said helplessly, staring at the two hundred thousand soldiers below, possibly facing annihilation—a situation that would cause anyone immense grief.

Moreover, as the highest commander, the responsibility weighed even heavier. Without the information from Chu Linfeng and Meng Ji, Luo Ping might have become the everlasting sinner of the Celestial Dragon Empire, and the thought sent a cold shudder through him.

After absorbing Star Power, Wei Qun hadn’t seen Chu Linfeng, which made him worried, and even Meng Ji was missing.

After inquiring with Luo Ping, he learned that they were on a secret mission and would return in a couple of days, advising him not to worry.

Seeing countless dead and wounded soldiers beneath the city walls made him extremely saddened, especially by those soldiers who wished for death but could not obtain it, writhing on the ground with endless wailing.

The Sea Dragon Empire continued firing their Heaven-shattering Thunder, each time aiming at the densest locations, but the effect was not significant.

By this time, numerous uninjured Celestial Dragon soldiers had stormed forward and engaged the Sea Dragon soldiers in sword fights.

Martial Skill-using soldiers unleashed their Martial Skills with all their might, consuming Star Power without hesitation, aiming for a fair trade by killing one enemy, earning by killing two, and feeling no regrets dying after killing three.

They fought recklessly, attacking without defending, willing to perish together if necessary.

Soon, hundreds of thousands of Celestial Dragon Empire soldiers charged into the enemy forces, at which point the Heaven-shattering Thunder’s effectiveness diminished, something the Sea Dragon Empire had not anticipated.

Firing the Heaven-shattering Thunder now could only kill a few hundred who hadn’t crossed over yet. Knowing the Heaven-shattering Thunder’s value, if one was wasted for a few hundred people, Yun Feiqing might execute the issuing general on the spot.

Seeing the Celestial Dragon soldiers fighting recklessly, the Sea Dragon Empire’s generals were at their wits’ end, as they were entirely fighting with a death wish, intensifying morale. The enemy’s two hundred thousand could wipe out their three hundred thousand, perhaps even four hundred thousand.

The Heaven-shattering Thunder had failed to deliver its intended impact, an unbearable thought. Seeing this, a general angrily shouted, ”Surround and slaughter all two hundred thousand, advance only, no retreat, violators will be executed!”
