Nine Revolutions Star Transformation

Chapter 299: Chapter 308: Heaven-shattering Thunder

Not long after Luo Ping and the others left, Chu Linfeng noticed something wrong with Wei Qun’s expression and immediately asked, ”Wei Qun, what’s wrong with you? Is your injury very serious?”

”No, Boss. I just feel like there’s a voice in my head speaking, but I can’t understand it. I don’t know what’s going on,” Wei Qun replied.

”What did it say? Do you remember anything?” Chu Linfeng asked, considering Wei Qun to be quite extraordinary, having heard about his special talent concerning herbs.

”Didn’t hear clearly, let’s not think about it. By the way, Brother Long, do you think the enemy’s sudden retreat really is what that general said?” Wei Qun responded.

”It shouldn’t be that simple. That general mentioned that the opponent’s commander is a meticulous thinker and naturally wouldn’t do something so foolish. Though breaking this fortress isn’t easy, they wouldn’t just let so many die for nothing,” Chu Linfeng said, looking at the dense layer of corpses beneath the fortress.

”Lin Feng, what would you think if I told you the enemy’s secret weapon for tomorrow could instantly kill hundreds?” Meng Ji asked at this moment.

”What did you say, instantaneously killing hundreds, could it be a powerful firearm?” Chu Linfeng said in surprise.

”Yes, the enemy’s secret weapon is a firearm called Heaven-shattering Thunder, an extremely domineering weapon. Even those in the Celestial Martial Realm could suffer severe injury or even death if attacked,” Meng Ji said.

Chu Linfeng and Wei Qun both stared at Meng Ji, her words were truly astounding, this was the first time they had heard of a weapon capable of killing those in the Celestial Martial Realm.

”Why wouldn’t they use it today and instead wait for tomorrow? Doesn’t this show they’re too confident, insisting on waiting until the Grand General arrives before attacking?” Chu Linfeng asked, thinking that if the enemy had such a firearm, the Celestial Dragon Country was indeed precarious.

”The formula for Heaven-shattering Thunder was auctioned at my Pingwu Auction House, but that was decades ago. The buyer at that time was a member of the Sea Dragon Empire’s royal family, Yun Wanli.

Heaven-shattering Thunder, as I’ve seen in an ancient book, was a weapon from the ancient Firearms Family, Lei Family. Its power could flatten a small mountain, but the formula was quite difficult to obtain. Unexpectedly, it has been acquired by the Sea Dragon Empire,” Meng Ji said.

Chu Linfeng paid little attention to her latter words, but the previous sentence stunned him. Meng Ji had mentioned decades ago; he recalled Wei Qun saying that Pingwu Auction House appeared in Xuanwu City only in recent years, was it not the one in Xuanwu City she referred to?

Then there is the mention of decades, how old could she actually be now; is she really a millennia-old hag? He had to absorb the Demon Yin Qi within her body in the future; thinking of this, Chu Linfeng felt a chill down his spine.

”Lin Feng, what’s wrong? You seem absent-minded,” Meng Ji noticed Chu Linfeng’s odd expression and asked understandingly.

”No, nothing. Meng Ji, how old are you, really, to know about events decades ago?” The question struck Chu Linfeng’s mind, and he blurted it out before he realized it was too much to take back.

”Haha, has this question lingered in your mind for a long time? You see me as an old witch, don’t you? My age is about the same as yours, and it’s entirely true, I have no reason to deceive you, you will know in due course,” Meng Ji laughed.

Chu Linfeng spoke no more. With her words, he didn’t have much else to say, fortunately, she didn’t get angry; it seemed she really had changed a lot for his sake.

”I also recently learned about Heaven-shattering Thunder through scouts reporting sightings of its explosion in the Sea Dragon Empire, and judging by some rare materials being sold recently,” Meng Ji said.

Wei Qun listened in complete bewilderment; these unheard-of matters were depicted so vividly by a strong Divine Martial Realm individual, their power was evident.

”Master, is there a way to counter it? If the Sea Dragon Empire truly employs Heaven-shattering Thunder, then there’s no point in battling, defeat is certain,” Wei Qun said.

”Heaven-shattering Thunder is a firearm, meaning it involves explosion and combustion, but it combines both attributes of firearms.

Though we can’t prevent explosions, their danger is substantial, yet not as severe as combustion. Heaven-shattering Thunder’s explosion would disperse countless flames around, flames so hot like Flame Fire that they can’t be extinguished immediately.

I don’t know of any counter, but manufacturing Heaven-shattering Thunder is extremely troublesome. I reckon the Sea Dragon Empire doesn’t have more than twenty pieces here, such an amount is far from sufficient.

They’ll likely transport more here; as long as we can sabotage those on the way, it would be a major victory,” Meng Ji said.

As night fell, watching the enemy camp’s firelight several miles outside the city walls, Chu Linfeng remarked, ”Should we stage a night raid on the enemy camp?”

”Brother Long, I’m not going! My injury hasn’t healed and I’d only be a burden to you, it’s safest for me here,” Wei Qun said.

”Lin Feng, I understand your thought; you want to destroy the opponent’s Heaven-shattering Thunder, don’t you? If that’s your plan, I advise against it. Such an important item is surely heavily guarded, even I may not succeed,” Meng Ji said.

Actually, Chu Linfeng did have that idea, but after hearing Meng Ji’s words, he sheepishly nodded; indeed, he might be overestimating himself.

”Forget it, everyone must be tired after a long day, let’s recover some Star Power; tomorrow’s the day of great battle,” Chu Linfeng said and sat down, taking out two top-grade Star Stones to begin absorbing.

Wei Qun followed suit, absorbing likewise; the Golden Demon Vulture stood motionless there as its injuries slowly healed, quite miraculously.

Seeing Chu Linfeng and Wei Qun in meditation, Meng Ji moved swiftly into the air and flew towards the enemy camp, disappearing into the night...

At this moment, six people sat in the discussion hall, Luo Ping at the head of the hall, Generals Zhang and Li sitting to his left, with three others seated to the right.

Luo Ping said, ”The chaos instigated by Ying Wanxiong inside the Imperial City indeed impacted heavily, now the Imperial City is in utter ruin. If the fortress falls, the Celestial Dragon Empire will cease to exist.

Therefore, we must spare no effort to repel the enemy forces this time and start arranging the battle plans.

Generals Zhang and Li continue to guard the city gates with ten thousand troops. Tomorrow morning, open the gates, and have the army appear directly outside them. If the enemy attacks, General Wang leads twenty thousand troops to attack westward.

General Nangong leads twenty thousand troops to attack eastward, while General Wu leads thirty thousand troops head-on against the enemy. The remaining twenty thousand troops remain at the gate, ready to support any side in a crisis immediately.”

”Understood, will complete the task!” the five responded in unison.

”Now go and arrange personnel distribution, ensure everyone is in place before dawn, tomorrow we’ll fight the Sea Dragon Thieves with all might!” Luo Ping declared.

Immediately the five exited the discussion hall, as a war that had been dormant for hundreds of years finally erupted...
