Nine Revolutions Star Transformation

Chapter 297: Chapter 306: The Golden Demon Vulture Displays Its Might

The city gates are steel gates 10 meters high and 50 meters wide, nearly a meter thick, weighing millions of pounds. To open the gates, using more than ten thousand upper grade Star Stone energy is required.

No matter how the Sea Dragon Empire’s army attacks, it won’t have much effect, but if they attack the junction between the gates and the city walls, it’s easy to topple the walls as the thickness here is the weakest.

For a time, the huge sounds of attacking the gates and the shouting of battle echoed throughout the skies, causing all Celestial Dragon Empire people to feel uneasy. If the Sea Dragon Empire broke through the gates, the city would be hard to defend.

Although the city has nearly the same number of troops as the Sea Dragon Empire, the military token is in Luo Ping’s hands, and the two generals on the city walls can’t mobilize the troops. Right now, the people on the walls are only the tens of thousands guarding the gates.

”Old Li, what should we do? We can’t mobilize the army. Are we just going to wait for the enemy to break through the gates and sit idly by?” said a general on the walls.

”We don’t have the military token to mobilize the troops. Even though the armies are in the city, the leaders recognize only the token, not the person. There’s nothing I can do,” said General Li.

”Those fools. If the gates are breached, we’re all done for. No, I must try. With this small number, we can’t stop the enemy army of this scale.”

”Old Zhang, it’s useless even if you go. You know Grand General Luo’s military discipline. Unless he personally mobilizes, no one will listen, and unauthorized entry is punishable by death.

We should try to delay time as much as possible. I believe the general will arrive before nightfall. Even if he doesn’t come himself, the military token will be delivered. He said he would return immediately once the recruitment of Imperial City Guard was over when he left,” said General Li.

”Let’s hope a miracle happens. It’s okay if we die in battle, but if the enemy breaks the city, the people of the Celestial Dragon Empire will suffer greatly, and we will be eternal sinners.”

”Report!” A soldier rushed over and spoke to the two generals. ”Generals, the enemy numbers are overwhelming. Our brothers have more than half casualties. What should we do? Please give orders.”

”Hold fast. Even if only one soldier survives, we must persist until Grand General Luo arrives. We cannot become sinners of the Celestial Dragon Empire,” said General Zhang.

Looking at the countless soldiers on the walls pierced through the chest by flying arrows, lying in pools of blood, both generals were filled with infinite anger and sadness.

When two armies engage, even the Celestial Martial Realm masters dare not fly in the open. If they do, they risk being shot down by a rain of arrows, even if they possess great skills. Otherwise, if the Sea Dragon Empire dispatches dozens of Celestial Martial Realm masters, this city cannot be held.

But if the soldiers on the walls are slaughtered, they can do so, which is what the two generals fear most.

Though they are in the Divine Martial Realm, the enemy also has Divine Martial Realm masters. Once constrained, the gates will be breached immediately.

At this moment, they could only try to evade the flying arrows coming their way, helplessly watching the soldiers fall in front of them.

Time slowly passed, and the casualties among the Celestial Dragon Empire’s defending soldiers became increasingly severe. Now, less than two thousand remain, and the situation is increasingly dire.

Just then, a loud bird cry echoed from the sky. A gigantic golden bird with wings spanning more than twenty meters appeared before everyone, causing all to be startled.

”There’s someone on the bird’s back!” A sharp-eyed soldier immediately exclaimed.

”It’s Grand General Luo and his team coming back. Brothers, we’re saved!” shouted a soldier joyfully.

”Quickly, shoot that big bird; don’t let it approach the walls!” On the Sea Dragon Empire side, a leader immediately commanded, and arrows flew toward the giant bird.

However, the golden bird seemed to disdain the incoming arrows. Its massive wings flapped, unleashing a great Astral Wind that swept the arrows away, some even toward the enemy, wounding many.

Soon, the bird landed on the walls, and four people dismounted from its back. The two defending generals immediately approached. Seeing a middle-aged man, General Zhang said, ”Grand General Luo, you finally arrived. Had you been later, the city surely would have fallen.

Without the military token, we can’t mobilize the army. Please, General, immediately deploy the troops to avenge our fallen brothers!”

”Thank you for your hard work, Generals. It’s my oversight that led to this situation. I will immediately deploy the troops—tomorrow, we will open the gates and fight the enemy, showing the Sea Dragon Empire thieves our might,” said Luo Ping.

Chu Linfeng looked at the countless fallen soldiers on the walls with emotion; war truly pays no heed to human lives.

”Boss, let me go slaughter these fellows first. Let me show you my strength after the breakthrough,” said Golden Demon Vulture.

”Old Jin, there are countless arrows from the other side. You could easily get injured,” Chu Linfeng said worriedly.

”No worries, these arrows lack the power to harm me; I’ll be careful,” replied Golden Demon Vulture, and immediately flew out of the walls toward the enemy’s dark mass.

His body flashed with golden light, shooting countless Feathered Swords at the ordinary soldiers below, instantly causing hundreds of casualties.

This large-scale devastation was unexpected to everyone, especially the Sea Dragon Empire, who never anticipated the enemy to have such a fierce giant golden bird.

Golden Demon Vulture’s Feathered Arrows downed soldiers wherever they struck, but he also faced tens of thousands of arrows launched at him.

His wings flapped continuously, dropping most arrows, but some still managed to hit him.

Just like a swarm of ants can bite an elephant to death, after launching several Golden Feather Arrow Fletches, Golden Demon Vulture was covered in wounds, forcing him to return to the walls. Just as he approached the city, his golden light surged, followed by an enormous bird cry, shaking off all the Sword Feathers embedded in him.

They shot directly at the attacking soldiers, killing dozens more in an instant.

This move by Golden Demon Vulture inflicted thousands of casualties on the enemy, although it was insignificant to an army of a million. Yet, it exerted considerable psychological pressure on them.

Afterward, Golden Demon Vulture landed on the walls, transforming into a middle-aged man next to Chu Linfeng, saying, ”Boss, I didn’t expect these arrows to be so fierce. Some could actually penetrate my defenses, which is strange.”

”Nothing strange about it. Clearly, the enemy has Celestial Martial Realm masters firing arrows at you. If these arrows weren’t of low grade, you might have become a pincushion by now,” Chu Linfeng replied.
