Nine Revolutions Star Transformation

Chapter 258: Chapter 257: Sneaking into the Imperial City

The first time he entered the city, Chu Linfeng encountered such a situation, leaving him speechless. He himself didn’t understand what went wrong; after disguising himself, he was still being hunted. Could it be that the Assassin’s Guild leaked his identity? It seemed unlikely.

After exiting the city, Chu Linfeng immediately used the Shift Form and Shadow technique to escape swiftly into the distance. He could easily eliminate all these ordinary guards without any effort.

But doing so would inevitably alert even stronger masters, and he would really be in trouble then.

Having broken through to the Eighth Level of Earth Martial Realm, Chu Linfeng’s speed was now significantly faster than before, able to instantly move a distance of twenty meters, quickly leaving the guards chasing him far behind.

He then stopped in a quiet, deserted place, took off the disguise from his face, and pulled out a white long robe from his Storage Ring, putting it on to appear elegant and dignified.

”No one should recognize me now. The name Niu Tian should be unusable; I need to create a new name,” Chu Linfeng muttered to himself as he returned to the main road.

The road was bustling with people, and everyone sneaked a few glances at Chu Linfeng, such an handsome young man, which made him uncomfortable.

He encountered some soldiers pursuing him earlier, but now they seemed not to notice him much, easing his nerves.

Soon, Chu Linfeng arrived at the gate of the Imperial City again; some soldiers who had chased him had returned. Chu Linfeng slowly approached the guards who were checking entry passes and stopped in front of them.

One of the guards still scrutinized Chu Linfeng carefully before asking the same question, to which Chu Linfeng directly took out a top-grade Star Stone from his Storage Ring and said, ”Zhao Long, from Phoenix City, eighteen this year.”

Seeing Chu Linfeng’s attire and the top-grade Star Stone in his hand, the guard immediately understood that this guy was a wealthy young master, and said, ”Entering the city requires ten Star Stones, use the low-grade Star Stones, if you use top-grade Star Stones we don’t give change.”

”Don’t bother with the change, take the extra to drink, old brother. I’ll be staying in the Imperial City for a few days, if you have some free time, don’t hesitate to come find me. I’m staying at the best restaurant in the Imperial City, remember my name when you come looking,” Chu Linfeng said with a smile.

The guard didn’t expect the young master in front of him to be so generous, giving away a top-grade Star Stone immediately, and excitedly said, ”Yes, I’ll definitely grab a few drinks with Brother when there’s time, Brother, enter the city!”

Chu Linfeng nodded and directly entered the city, making other guards envious. This kid just gave away ninety Star Stones, that’s a few months’ wages!

After entering the Imperial City, Chu Linfeng found the street to be several hundred meters wide, scattered with some vendors selling their goods; though the street was wide and crowded, it still seemed spacious.

Soon, Chu Linfeng saw Wei Qun’s figure, the kid was picking out something at a vendor’s stall, Chu Linfeng walked up behind him and tapped his shoulder, saying, ”Let’s find a place for a drink, this first time in the Imperial City deserves a treat.”

Wei Qun was startled by the tap on his shoulder, turned to see a very familiar face, then laughed after hearing Chu Linfeng’s voice, ”Brother Tian, I knew you’d have a way!”

Chu Linfeng smiled, looking at Wei Qun, ”This isn’t the place to talk, let’s walk and talk.”

”Brother Tian, how come you got mistaken for a wanted criminal?” Wei Qun asked puzzled as they walked.

”This is a long story, old man was being chased and you kid seemed unconcerned, it’s amusing!” Chu Linfeng laughed.

”Brother Tian, you’ve misunderstood me, I was very worried when you were chased, but my worry was useless, if I followed I’d just be seen as your accomplice and definitely get captured.

Then you would have to come save me too, I know Brother Tian’s skills, those soldiers couldn’t possibly catch you, so I waited in the street for you to come find me,” Wei Qun said seriously.

”Didn’t expect you to have such foresight. Did you gather information on the Imperial City Guard?” Chu Linfeng asked.

”Not yet, this Imperial City is huge, if walking from here to the Imperial Palace would take half a day, the recruitment for the Imperial City Guard should be outside the palace at the training grounds, but there’s not much information available here,” Wei Qun said.

”Then let’s go directly to the training grounds, we’ll find out then,” Chu Linfeng said.

”No need to go, the Imperial City is full of mixed characters, gathering information is simple, just go to some casual teahouses or restaurants, come on, I know a place where information flows smoothly.”

The two walked slowly on the street, with complex, varied buildings on both sides, showing a truly prosperous scene.

Soon, the two stopped at a place called Liuxiang Restaurant, ”Brother Tian, this is where the Imperial City’s intelligence flows most smoothly, consumption here is not high, a meal costs about five Star Stones, many people like to eat here, they also enjoy listening to rumors.”

”Alright, let’s check this place out, hope to get some useful information,” then the two walked in directly.

Upon entering, Chu Linfeng saw it was indeed bustling with activity, with hundreds of tables nearly all occupied, it took a while to find an empty table, making Chu Linfeng witness such a scene for the first time.

The waitstaff were at least ten in number, meaning business was really booming.

After sitting down, a waiter soon approached, ”What would you like to eat, our restaurant’s dishes are famous around here, such as Kung Pao Chicken, Couple’s Sliced Beef...”

Before the waiter finished speaking, Chu Linfeng interrupted, ”Bring some of your signature dishes, and a pot of wine.”

”Please wait a moment, they’ll be served soon!” then quickly left.

”This waiter doesn’t seem weak in strength,” Chu Linfeng commented.

”Certainly, the waitstaff here can perform martial skills, if they’re not Seventh Layer Earth Martial Realm, they’re not qualified. This place is full of mixed characters, often there’s conflict, and the waitstaff here are basically the restaurant’s enforcers,” Wei Qun whispered.

At this time, a middle-aged man at the next table said, ”Today while passing the city gate, I heard that Chu Linfeng, who killed the Third Prince Hai Long, entered the city and was immediately spotted by guards chasing after him, wonder if they caught him yet.”

”Those watchdogs couldn’t possibly catch him, it’s a joke. But Chu Linfeng really is bold, daring to come to the Imperial City.”

”What’s there to fear? Honestly, I admire the guy’s guts, if there’s a chance I’d like to meet him.”

”Drink, drink! It’s better not to talk too much, if these words reach certain ears, you know the consequences.”

Chu Linfeng and Wei Qun exchanged a smile, Chu Linfeng has unexpectedly become quite a figure.

Discussion in the restaurant was continuous, soon the waiter brought the food, and then a youth around seventeen or eighteen approached Chu Linfeng and said, ”Wonder if my brother would allow me to join your table, this restaurant is too busy, there’s no place to sit.”

Chu Linfeng looked up at the youth and was immediately shocked, this was obviously a girl dressed as a boy...
