Nine Revolutions Star Transformation

Chapter 289: Chapter 298: Becoming an Imperial City Guard

Lin Feng slowly turned around and looked at Meng Ji with a smile, ”You’re not angry, are you!”

”Haha, how could I be mad at you? Aren’t you going back? Let’s go!” Meng Ji’s tone was incredibly gentle at this moment.

Inside, Lin Feng was speechless, ”Big sister, why do you have to be like that? The drastic change really frightens me.”

But he dared not voice this thought, who knows how she’d react.

The two of them returned to the city right away, though the Imperial City was still as lively as ever. However, Lin Feng believed it wouldn’t be long before an internal conflict would break out in the Imperial City.

Among Ying Wanxiong’s cohorts, quite a few hold military power, once chaos truly erupts, this Imperial City would quickly turn into rivers of blood, corpses strewn all over.

”Let’s go check if Wei Qun has passed through.” Lin Feng said.

When they arrived at the training field of the Imperial City, there were already many people present. Lin Feng led Meng Ji back to his resting area and said, ”Wait for me here, this is the training field, you’re not one of the passers-through, and besides, wearing a veil would draw attention.”

”What are you afraid of? This isn’t exactly a dragon’s pond or a tiger’s den, I’ll take off the veil, nobody would dare disrespect you with me around.” Meng Ji said with a smile, as she prepared to remove her veil.

”Better keep it on, your celestial beauty might draw countless jealous stares; I don’t want to be killed by such looks.” Lin Feng immediately stopped her.

With Meng Ji’s stunning beauty, surely it will cause quite a stir. He honestly wasn’t in the mood for more fame right now.

”You go ahead, I’ll wait for you here.” Meng Ji said.

Lin Feng nodded and left the room, heading towards the training grounds. Soon, Wei Qun and Luo Lin appeared in his line of sight.

”Brother Long, where did you go? I couldn’t find you at all yesterday, and today I looked for you again but still couldn’t find you.” Wei Qun said.

Luo Lin leaned in close to Lin Feng, sniffed the scent on his body, and immediately exclaimed: ”Haha! Your body has a woman’s fragrance; confess, did you go drinking at the flower bar?”

”Your nose is like a dog’s, able to smell even this?” Lin Feng asked, feeling utterly troubled by this girl.

”You’re the one with the dog nose; I was born sensitive, especially to women’s fragrance. Honestly, what were you up to?” Luo Lin asked.

”I went out for a fun time; I’ve been bottled up these days, needed to release some pressure, wouldn’t you say?” Lin Feng smiled mischievously, his eyes deliberately falling to Luo Lin’s chest where the tightly bound area might already be distorted.

”What are you looking at?” Luo Lin noticed Lin Feng’s inappropriate gaze and immediately exclaimed, her face turning red.

”Nothing, just wondering if dressing as a man might deform a certain body part. Just curious that’s all.” Lin Feng laughed.

”You, you...” Luo Lin didn’t finish her words and directly launched a palm strike towards Lin Feng.

Lin Feng quickly dodged it, making Wei Qun laugh heartily beside him, ”Brother Long, did you really go to a flower bar?”

”Do you believe what she says? Am I that kind of person?” Lin Feng said seriously.

”You are! You even flirted with me just now.” Luo Lin said angrily, her heart frustrated by his teasing words.

”Alright, enough joking around; how did the final clearance go?” Lin Feng asked.

”We successfully advanced, didn’t we? Isn’t that impressive?” Wei Qun said.

”Indeed, very impressive; to celebrate your successful passage, let’s go out and have a drink tonight,” Lin Feng smiled.

Just then, the voice of Grand General Luo Ping rang out in the training field: ”The third clearance has ended, only eighty-seven have passed this time. Those who haven’t passed can leave the training grounds, hope you succeed next time. Of course, if anyone wishes to become ordinary Soldier Guards, you can go directly to the Ministry of War to receive your armor.”

”Those who have passed, follow me to the Imperial City Guard camp, I have tasks to assign.”

Following that, Luo Ping’s figure appeared in the training field, and those who didn’t pass left with disappointment etched on their faces. It’s hard to reach this stage, yet to be mercilessly eliminated is dispiriting.

Some chose to go to the Ministry of War to receive armor and become ordinary Soldier Guards, others hoped to join next year and formally become Imperial City Guards.

Lin Feng and Wei Qun followed others with Luo Ping to a huge hall within the camp, where already dozens of Imperial City Guards stood silently, the atmosphere was quite solemn.

Luo Ping sat directly on a chair above in the hall, looking at everyone, he said: ”You represent the elite among the ten thousand, the pride of our Celestial Dragon Empire.

”Happy to have you as part of the Imperial City Guard; however, the situation in the Celestial Dragon Empire isn’t as simple as it appears, it’s fraught with internal and external troubles. The Empire requires you to ease internal strife and resist external threats.

”Now we will distribute personal armor, crafted of refined copper, middle-grade Spiritual Artifacts. Hope everyone treasures them.”

Subsequently, several Imperial City Guards distributed the armor prepared earlier in the hall to all present. Faces lit up with excitement and joy upon receiving them.

”A change will soon occur in the Imperial City, everyone must be mentally prepared. Imperial City Guards will be divided into groups of twenty; soon, you will be distributed into teams.

”During these days, I hope everyone stays put, as there may be a tactical shift anytime, and when the time comes, you will fulfill your duty to the Empire.

A few days from now, we’ll distribute the Star Stones and daily necessities for training, for now, adapt to the camp environment.

Due to special circumstances, you’re advised to temporarily lodge in the resting rooms of the training field, with mandatory morning exercises.”

After finishing, Luo Ping observed the silent crowd with satisfaction and laughed, ”Today’s performance was excellent; everyone may leave, Zhao Long and Er Mu, stay!”

Subsequently, everyone left with their armor, even the Imperial City Guards who were present earlier left, leaving just Lin Feng, Sister Meng Ji, and Luo Lin in this vast hall.

”Lin Feng, the Second Prince asked me to tell you to endure staying here for the next few days, and that includes the distinguished guest. Ying Wanxiong should be taking action soon, once the timing is right, we can properly strategize.” Luo Ping said.

”I’ll go along with the Grand General’s arrangements, I’m comfortable wherever I am.” Lin Feng smiled.

”Lin’er, you’ll return to the General’s Mansion later; it’s improper for a girl to constantly mingle among men. You’ve proven your strength, isn’t that enough? Don’t make things hard for your father.”

”I won’t go back. After finally becoming an Imperial City Guard, I need to have some fun, that would otherwise make all my efforts go to waste.” Luo Lin said.

Luo Ping felt a bit troubled; Lin Feng then suggested, ”Let her stay for a few days, anyway, Meng Ji could use some female company, they’d find it convenient!”

”Alright! Lin’er, remember absolutely not to offend the distinguished guest, her status is such that even your father wouldn’t dare offend, keep that in mind! Now go back!”

”Thank you, father, Lin’er understands!”

After Lin Feng and Luo Lin came out, Luo Lin asked: ”How come you’re Lin Feng? Who is the distinguished guest?”
