Chapter 158: Chapter 159: The Purple Fox Magical Beast

Chu Linfeng exhaled a mouthful of turbid air, feeling a comfortable sensation of power filling his entire body. He immediately stood up and looked upwards, seeing the Golden Demon Vulture staring at him in astonishment.

”Boss, are you alright?” the Golden Demon Vulture promptly asked.

”I’m fine now. Have you recovered from your injuries?” Chu Linfeng intended to scold the creature for appearing here, but thought better of it, considering it might have been worried about him.

”I’ve recovered about eighty percent, but boss, you’re really incredible, staying here without eating or drinking for eight days; I thought you had kicked the bucket!”

”Eight days? Are you saying this breakthrough took eight days?” Chu Linfeng was surprised, not expecting it to take so long; he felt quite unexpected.

”That’s right, eight days in total. I only came over yesterday,” said the Golden Demon Vulture.

Chu Linfeng smiled, ”Old Jin, thank you for your efforts. Let’s go find Jingyi and the others!”

The Golden Demon Vulture then reverted to its original form, and Chu Linfeng sat atop it, flying toward the direction where Sima Jingyi and the others were fleeing...

Meanwhile, Sima Jingyi and the group were desperately slaughtering Magical Beasts within a forest. The designated time was nearing, yet they were far from reaching the required number of Demon Crystals; everyone’s hearts were growing anxious.

Zhao Fei’s injuries had now healed. As the most skilled member of the team, he was killing the most Magical Beasts the quickest. Only one person was absent-minded, nearly getting injured by the beasts several times.

”Sima Jingyi, stop being so disheartened. These Magical Beasts are extremely ferocious, and they could get you severely injured or even killed at any moment,” Zhao Fei said, slicing a beast attacking Sima Jingyi.

”I’m, I’m worried about Lin Feng, unsure if he’s dead or alive. How can I be at ease?” Sima Jingyi said, choking up a little.

Since Chu Linfeng had asked her to leave, Sima Jingyi had been constantly worried about his safety. The power of the Flying Demon Tiger was well-known; although Chu Linfeng said he was fine, now that so many days had passed without a trace of him, it seemed likely he was in danger.

”He’ll be alright! You need to pay attention to your own safety. Although the Magical Beasts in this forest aren’t particularly high-tier, they’re still dangerous. If Chu Linfeng comes looking and finds you badly hurt, he’ll be devastated,” Zhao Fei consoled.

For his timely rescue that day, Zhao Fei felt appreciative of Chu Linfeng, though puzzled about why he returned. That Demon Tiger was practically unbeatable; no matter how proficient he was, he couldn’t be a match for it.

Zhao Fei had heard of Chu Linfeng’s reputation—defeating Wu Qing directly showed impressive skills—but now that he might never return, he thought he might have befriended him if possible.

”Thank you, Zhao Fei, I understand now!” Sima Jingyi said, breaking into a smile.

Suddenly, a student hurried toward Zhao Fei, saying, ”Brother Fei, there’s a very formidable Magical Beast ahead! We couldn’t even hurt it despite our joint attacks. Would you like to take a look?”

”Is that so? Let’s go; lead me to it!” Zhao Fei said, feeling shocked inside. In this forest, most beasts were Tier Three, and Tier Four beasts were rare. Now a beast that several people failed to defeat had appeared—its tier must be Tier Five.

Zhao Fei quickly followed the student away, and Sima Jingyi felt she should also see, perhaps she could help, so she followed them as well.

The distance was only a little more than one mile. After all, the Magic Beast Forest was riddled with danger; either encountering Magical Beasts or superior-class students from Sea Dragon Academy.

Encounters with beasts meant direct slaying, while encountering many opposing students mostly led to avoidance; it wasn’t necessary to engage in battle.

”Brother Fei, there it is—the Magical Beast resembling a fox. No matter how we attack, it seems we can’t get close, quite strange,” the student pointed to a beast about tens of meters ahead.

Zhao Fei saw the beast indeed resembled a fox, but its fur was entirely purple, even its eyes purple, very peculiar.

”You couldn’t injure it, but did it injure you?” Zhao Fei immediately asked. If this purple fox couldn’t hurt them either, it only suggested its defense was strong, but not its attack power.

”Two people were hurt, but they’re only lightly injured—or not even worth calling injuries!”

Sima Jingyi got a bit confused too, ”Is it an injury or not?” she couldn’t resist asking.

”While attacking the fox beast, they suddenly felt a stabbing pain like being struck by lightning. The pain was unbearable but went away after a while, and no marks were left,” the student explained.

Zhao Fei looked at the purple fox beast nearby, thinking it was not a simple creature—it might inherently be kind, not wanting to battle humans.

”Sima Jingyi, what do you think? Should we slay the beast or let it go?” Zhao Fei asked Sima Jingyi.

”The fox has such beautiful fur; it’s a shame to kill it. We should hunt other beasts to complete the task. Besides, it didn’t really harm our students!” Sima Jingyi said.

”Young sister, you’re kind-hearted. This lady will let you go today, but don’t appear in this forest again, or you’ll regret it,” a strange female voice suddenly sounded in Sima Jingyi’s ear.

The voice sent a fright through her, ”Who, who’s talking to me?” Sima Jingyi immediately said, feeling a foreboding sense—could it be another talking Magical Beast?

Thinking of this, she suddenly looked at the purple fox beast not far off, asking after a while, ”Is it you who’s talking to me?”

”Correct, it’s me. Surprised, aren’t you?” the purple fox spoke out, this time Zhao Fei and the student clearly heard it too.

A talking Magical Beast, its implications were obvious without needing much thought. Zhao Fei immediately prepared for battle, should the purple fox charge, he’d stop at nothing to ensure Sima Jingyi left first.

Sima Jingyi’s body trembled slightly, just after encountering the powerful Demon Tiger, now facing this talking purple fox—it wasn’t clear if they were lucky with good temperament or terribly unfortunate.

A talking beast implies at least Tier Six level; Zhao Fei’s injuries had just healed, so naturally, he was no match, inducing despair in his heart.

”Hey, that guy, put down your weapon. If I wanted to kill you, it’d be effortless. Don’t worry, I won’t harm you, but you must agree to one condition,” the purple fox said.

Seeing an opening, Zhao Fei quickly asked, ”What condition?”

”You must promise me to let the young man who slew the Demon Tiger take me away from this Magic Beast Forest...”
