From BOSS to Canon Fodder: She is Currently Out of Service!

”Hmm... good evening...” In fact, it was already early morning, and in a few hours, one could even say ”good morning.” Looking at the person he thought wouldn’t come back, Gu Ningxuan suddenly felt that his heartbeat seemed a bit irregular, ”When did you get back?”

”Just now...” Su Jiameng suddenly showed a hint of a regretful smile and said in a flat tone, ”Earlier, Xiao Xi and Xiao Feng were constantly telling me to come back on graduation day. I rushed as much as I could, but I’m still late.”

”It’s good you’re back safely, the rest isn’t so important.” Gu Ningxuan frowned secretly; the other person still carried a strong scent of blood and some indescribable medicinal fragrance. Clearly... she was injured again, and it was likely recent. ”Was this trip smooth? You look a bit tired, why not rest first.”

Actually, Gu Ningxuan didn’t want her out of his sight at all, especially since he himself would be leaving after dawn, and he hadn’t seen enough. How many years it would be before they met again was unknown... This amount of time was too short for him.

”No need, I can hold on.” Su Jiameng directly refused his kindness and suddenly thought of something, ”It seems... tomorrow is the day the five-year contract ends. Do you have any plans?”

Gu Ningxuan said, ”I have already bought a ticket to leave Qiming Star, planning to explore as I said before. The universe is vast. I haven’t visited other planets, other galaxies. The virtual network, no matter how realistic, can’t compare to seeing with my own eyes. I really want to know what scenery lies beyond the Alliance. Being confined in a small world feels so wrong.”

”Hmm, if you’ve decided so, it’s a good thing.” Su Jiameng didn’t try to persuade him to stay, after all, she had been mentally prepared for her own departure for many years, ”The sky is high, and the universe is vast and boundless. Traveling around is a great choice.”

Gu Ningxuan didn’t respond, using his height advantage, he could easily see the shadow cast by her long eyelashes. Despite her best attempts to hide it, the fatigue was undeniable, stubborn enough to tug at one’s heart.

”I’ll return,” Gu Ningxuan said after a while, ”when the time comes, there are some things I want to say to you.”

”Can’t you say them now?” Su Jiameng, who used all her intelligence for combat, was generally lacking in emotional intelligence. Or maybe she could manage emotions but deliberately avoided matters of the heart, instinctively overlooking Gu Ningxuan’s gaze.

”No... the timing isn’t right.” Seeing her looking so normal, Gu Ningxuan’s heart was understandably filled with bitterness. But he quickly adjusted, ”I don’t know what you’re doing or why, but I hope you think more about yourself, think more about the kids. Don’t just charge forward silently; what if you get seriously hurt?”

Gu Ningxuan’s latter words were somewhat overstepping, but Su Jiameng didn’t say anything. Instead, she quite enjoyed this feeling of being cared for, always feeling the burden on her shoulders lighten a bit, ”Thank you, I will be careful.”

After a moment of silence, Su Jiameng suddenly remembered something, ”I remember your spiritual power is very close to 3S now, right? Then... maybe the fusion is soon, and the spiritual overlap fracture issue can also be resolved.”

Gu Ningxuan remained silent. In fact, he had been restraining the growth of his spiritual power lately. For some reason, he didn’t want to fuse so quickly, even though he clearly knew the so-called second personality was also himself. Could it be he’s afraid that after fusion, he would forget about this affection?

”Here’s some information to look at when your spiritual power begins to merge.” Su Jiameng pulled up a document from her device and sent it to him, taking out a Clay Ore stored in a special box. This stuff emitted radiation that stimulated telekinesis, prepared especially for Gu Ningxuan. To avoid interfering with others, she made sure to have a radiation isolation box, ”And this.”

”What are these...?” Gu Ningxuan recognized the ore, as Su Jiameng had vaguely mentioned it to him before. In his memory, this stuff was very dangerous! But why... was she giving it to him?

”When your spiritual power begins to fuse, open the document I sent you, and you’ll clearly understand.” Su Jiameng showed signs of fatigue and suddenly missed her bed, ”I’m feeling a bit tired, I’ll go take a nap. Remember to call me tomorrow; I’ll see you off.”

Gu Ningxuan took the Clay Ore back to his room, looked at it for a long time, and then packed it in his travel bag. No matter what, he didn’t believe Su Jiameng would harm him; there must be a reason for her actions. As for that reason, it should be found in that document.

After hesitating for a long time, Gu Ningxuan restrained his urge to sneak a peek at the document and locked it away. One day he would see it; for now, sleep was more important, and everything else could wait until tomorrow.

The next day, Gu Ningxuan got up very early, quickly tidied himself up, and prepared to leave. He didn’t disturb Su Jiameng; although he wanted to see her so much, what difference would it make? It would only be harder to leave.

Leaving Su Mansion in the dim morning light, he didn’t notice Su Jiameng standing on the second-floor balcony in a bathrobe, leaning against the railing to watch him go. She sighed slightly, ”A dragon held captive in shallow waters will one day soar through the skies. This small place can’t contain you. Leaving is for the best, after all, Qiming Star... is not a peaceful place.”

The documents Su Jiameng gave him were actually her own cultivation insights and notes on telekinesis based on the information from the library. If Gu Ningxuan was interested in taking a gamble after merging his spiritual power, these notes could assist him.

After all, spiritual overlap fracture syndrome was a rare occurrence, and if he could achieve that level of power, she would happily help him fulfill it.

Watching the rising sun in the distance, she mentally calculated the time and smiled, ”There should be news from Gu Ningzhi by now, right?” (To be continued.
