Cultivation is just so scientific!

Chapter 119: Chapter 106 Nanshan

Li Shiming sat on the back of a paper crane, taking out his Identity Jade Disc to send a message to Yin Shilan, informing her that he was about to undertake a mandatory task.

Then, he opened the mandatory task and discovered that it was to heal a spirit tree in Nanshan Country.

Nanshan Country was a mundane place, and the spirit tree there wouldn’t likely be any notable Spirit Plant.

Because precious Spirit Plants simply couldn’t survive in the world’s regions where Spiritual Energy was sparse, yet, as a Junior Spirit Plant Cultivator according to the records, such a task was still plausible for him.

However, the distance to Nanshan Country was considerable. If he rode the paper crane, the flight alone would take more than ten days.

“This is also good, I can use it as an excuse to stay away from the sect. Even if the Holy Ice Sect investigates, they can’t scrutinize me when I’m away from the sect. My mission is enforced by the Law Enforcement Hall, not a request of my own volition!” Li Shiming thought while controlling the paper crane.

After flying for two hours, he felt that this speed was simply too slow.

Indeed, the speed was almost comparable to the car speeds from his previous life, but compared to the distances a cultivator needed to travel, the paper crane’s speed seemed rather inadequate.

If it had been the early stages of Qi Refinement, he would have had no other choice due to his meager Spiritual Power, but now he was at the Qi Refining Fourth Level, having truly reached the middle stage of Qi Refinement.

At the very least within the realm of Qi Refinement, he was a cultivator with some genuine strength.

He hadn’t learned any flight-related Cultivation Techniques, but the ‘Sword Manipulation Technique’, a Sword Cultivation Technique, did include a method for using a longsword to carry a cultivator in flight.

Previously, his Spiritual Power was insufficient to utilize the ability to fly, but now he had the capability.

Deciding to act, he withdrew the paper crane, which left him unsupported in mid-air.

Just as his body was about to fall to the sea surface, with a flick of his finger, his Qingyuan Wood Sword flew out, turning into a streak of golden-green sword light.

A Qi Refining Fourth Level cultivator wielding a top-grade magic artifact couldn’t sustain it for too long, but there was no helping it.

He didn’t want to use the Fiery Flame Sword at the moment; after Baili Jin Yan had taken it, who could guarantee there weren’t traces left on it?

The only magic artifact Li Shiming had fully refined to one hundred percent was the Qingyuan Wood Sword; without it, he had no other sword-type magic artifact to use.

The ‘Sword Manipulation Technique’ fundamentally required a fully refined sword-type magic artifact, so while practicing Sword Escape, he also had to take care not to consume too much power.

This wasn’t inside the sect; when outside, he needed to have enough protective Spiritual Power within himself.

“Watch me, a Sword Cultivator, control the sword to fly!” Although he felt it was quite cringeworthy, there were no other cultivators within a ten-mile radius, allowing him to let go of his inhibitions.

The sword light supported his falling body, then expanded to envelop him completely.

The sword light suddenly accelerated, and he heard the tearing sound of breaking through the air.

His internal spiritual power was rapidly depleting at a rate of ten percent every ten breaths.

At the thirtieth breath, he stopped the Sword Escape, mainly because he didn’t dare to continue flying; the consumption was just too great.

However, this thirty breaths of flight let him witness the formidable aspect of Sword Cultivators.

This was entirely flight by one’s own power, with a speed that was at least five times faster than the paper crane.

That was even when his Spiritual Power was only at the Qi Refining Fourth Level; once his Spiritual Power level increased, the speed could be even faster.

He took out two Spirit Stones, holding them in his hands to absorb the Spiritual Energy within.

This technique was mentioned in the knowledge of Qi Refining cultivators; after consuming Spiritual Power, there are three ways to recover.

One is natural recovery, where the Spiritual Energy Vortex is constantly absorbing the world’s spiritual energy all the time, albeit very slowly. If consumption is too high, one has to wait until the next main Cultivation Technique practice to replenish through the main technique.

Two is taking Elixir Pills, which is the quickest way to recover Spiritual Power.

But Qi Refining cultivators rarely do so, mainly because the Elixir Pills that restore Spiritual Power are too expensive. Only if a Qi Refining cultivator has the capability of later stages and a stable method for swiftly earning Spirit Stones do they have the qualification to consume Elixir Pills for restoring spiritual power.

Cultivators who hunt sea beasts, for example, use Elixir Pills to recover Spiritual Power when necessary.

Three is with the help of Spiritual Energy inside Spirit Stones, which is the most common method among ordinary cultivators.

The reason Spirit Stones became the general currency in the Cultivation World is that they contain Spiritual Energy that cultivators can absorb.

Many cultivators even use Spirit Stones to increase the intake of Spiritual Energy during their main Cultivation Technique practice to accelerate their cultivation speed.

Li Shiming used Spirit Stones to restore his Spiritual Energy and after it was full, he would use the Qingyuan Wood Sword to initiate Sword Escape again.

With each practice, his mastery over the ‘Sword Manipulation Technique’s Sword Escape improved. Adding to that his research on aerodynamics from the IBMz15, he altered the shape of the sword light, reducing the air resistance during Sword Escape.

With each Sword Escape, his flying distance increased, from initially eight miles in thirty breaths to later reaching ten miles.

He calculated the speed, reaching an impressive six hundred kilometers per hour during Sword Escape.

Unfortunately, due to his Spiritual Power, he still couldn’t use Sword Escape as a regular method of flight, so he had to continuously recover Spiritual Power and then use Sword Escape again.

While recovering Spiritual Power, he could still travel using the paper crane, so there was no delay at all.

Yin Shilan snapped out of her research, feeling somewhat fatigued as she shook her head, only to discover the message on her Identity Jade Disc.
