Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Although it caused a very significant impact on Toril, Hill himself really had no great expectations for this world, so he just smiled slightly: ”For Ambori, Utao is indeed a good ally.”

Although Ambori has changed a lot, the marks of those past years are hard to erase.

For mortals, it’s okay, as long as she doesn’t stir up waves and plunder merchant ships for a long time, sooner or later they will forget the shameless past of this Goddess of the Sea.

But for the gods, it’s challenging.

Even AO didn’t expect Ambori to achieve anything... Anyone wise enough could see why Athena was here.

Ambori might not be smart, but she is very stubborn: once she trusts someone, unless she witnesses her own betrayal firsthand, she will steadfastly believe in them.

Back then, Olypher nearly slapped her with the North Wind, yet even then she only realized the truth after her authority over the Ocean Storm was completely deceived away by Talos.

While Olypher, on the very day Talos incorporated the blizzard into his storm, discovered the other’s conspiracy.

Naturally, by then, even though she had pledged allegiance, she couldn’t do anything about it... she could only shrink within the Arctic Circle, never stepping out.

Yet also because she reacted quickly, at this stage, among the Fury Camp, only she advanced instead of retreating, making her a notable figure even among Toril’s intermediate divine powers.

Moreover, thanks to Basher, she has no hidden dangers.

Whenever Hill thinks of that inexplicable feather necklace that fell into his hands, he feels like slapping AO twice.

If he really got involved in that matter, how could he face Coron?

AO seems to want to dig up all his roots on the elven side!

Yes, even though the World Tree extends its branches far and wide, it rarely intervenes in the trivialities between gods and mortals, but Coron will.

If Hill, as a descendant of Coron, was left in Toril by AO, and after gaining significant divinity, if due to dissatisfaction he entangled with the Elf Deity System to oppose them, what then?

Though it’s Hill’s abilities that caught their eyes, his stance worries them... In the world of the Old Silver Coin, there are no good people.

If Hill truly deceives to death the Winged Elf Goddess Adri Farnia, one of the triune components of the elven God Queen Angrace, even if she could later resurrect, the relationship between Hill and the Elf Deity System would only turn cold.

Be aware, originally, this Winged Elf Goddess had a poor relationship with Olypher, and later directly became mortal enemies due to this matter, waging war across numerous planes... As the impulsive and free aspect within the Elf Deity System, she has never heeded Coron’s words.

If she were to hate Hill, there would absolutely be no chance for reconciliation.

Thus, although Hill’s impression of Toril was initially acceptable, upon discovering that feather necklace, he decided never to look back... AO’s heart is too ruthless, hands too dirty.

Despite AO appearing very polite earlier, bringing a small gift when visiting, Hill has never shed the wariness in his heart towards this God Above Gods.

The more courteous AO is towards him, the more Hill reminds himself to try to avoid going to Toril again.

If he truly wants to, at least wait until all divine positions related to the earth and nature in Toril are occupied.

That old fellow very likely still harbors schemes.

However, at least now, Olypher certainly won’t form a mortal enmity with the Winged Elf Goddess anymore... even if she is destined to face misfortune, it is unrelated to the Agleya forces in northern Sword Bay.

But regardless of reasoning, anyone could likely understand Olypher’s actions, since she belongs to the evil faction!

During the widespread battle between the Fury Camp and the Elf Deity System, when a dying wind god fell right at her doorstep... how could Olypher not devour?

It’s only normal to drool from indulgence.

But now things are different: Talos, who led his subordinates to raid the Elven Divine Kingdom, went offline early, and Olypher decisively severed ties while he was out of reach, not hesitating to convert herself into a truly neutral deity.

Therefore, even if this Winged Elf Goddess falls half-dead again... or even collapses at her doorstep once more, Olypher won’t consume her in such an overly evil manner anymore.

The title of ’Ice and Snow Express Queen’ and ’Northern Postal Girl’ given by the Undead Tribe is about to be condensed into a new divinity for her, so who cares about a bit of wind?

But AO is helpless about it.

Clearly, such kinds of divine positions are still unfamiliar to them.

At least among the many paths of destiny he had prepared before, this was not included.

Typical wind-series deities belong to the relatively free and indulgent kind... like the God of Travelers.

They rarely engage in such mundane activities, naturally not forming similar divine roles.

Within Toril, even the most ordinary professionals would not choose to work exclusively as messengers or couriers, let alone intermediate divine-powered priests!

Priests, even those serving the weakest deities, are to be venerated by people, how could they trudge on roads delivering goods themselves?

Only someone like Olypher, who considers offering sacrifices by slaughtering chickens and sheep sufficient, could pull this off.

Of course, without the professional courier system set up by the Undead Tribe, Olypher’s priests wouldn’t have come this far.

Anyway, Olypher’s years of shamelessness have not been in vain.

Though she still accepts only priestesses, and hasn’t changed the so-called Mortal Shedding Ceremony... those who fail, won’t die.

Olypher will provide them with an anti-freeze buff before they freeze to death.

However, the same, failing once means these Northern Girls can never enter the Winter Maiden’s chapel again... the chance, is still only once.

Although the North is no longer as unbearable as before due to the presence of the Undead Tribe, the gap between Professionals and ordinary people is still very large.

Especially in the Sword Bay Area, including those barbarian girls in Icewind Valley, they no longer need to take on overly humble professions for survival... such as ’Dancer’.

Becoming a follower of Shuni is one thing, but having to sell oneself for a living is another matter altogether.

It’s precisely because Hill’s territory and its affiliated regions offer a very lenient living environment for ordinary people, the ratio of men to women in his territory is nearly equal.

Actually, it wasn’t originally this way.

Women in the North have always been scarce... the harsh environment itself greatly harms ordinary people, and naturally weaker women live more difficult lives.

Otherwise, there wouldn’t be so many Northern Girls willing to become Olypher’s priestesses even if it means death!

Even if they can only kill a chicken, at least she won’t freeze to death without warm clothing.

Every winter, there are quite a few girls who willingly walk into those pink little houses just to survive.

They truly can do anything to stay alive.

But if they can live with dignity, who would want to sell themselves so thoroughly?

That’s why Hill’s territory has become the greatest hope for girls from poor Northern families.

As long as they have the chance, they will abandon everything and rush along the road towards Agleya.

And before then, the place these girls most want to go is usually the Silvermoon Alliance.

Although there, they may also have to sell themselves, but at least they can preserve their lives.

Elaströ is not lacking in kindness, but in a place like Toril, she has long been unable to see those blood and tears.

To manage to keep her Silvermoon City free from massacre incidents is already a rare success.

And in Toril, leaders who care about the lives of dancers, like her, are very few.

However, once people have what they need for survival, there will always be some who want to take it a step further.

Especially in Hill’s territory, there are too many Professionals... so many that it has led to misconceptions: becoming a Professional is not that difficult.

But, it is indeed very difficult.

Even wanting to become a follower of Shuni, at least requires having a pretty face, a good figure, a glib tongue... then also having some Mage talent.

Therefore, throughout Toril, Olypher’s requirements for her followers are actually the fairest.

Either have enough willpower, or natural cold resistance.

She doesn’t even need Mage talent.

Anyway, she doesn’t need to grant her followers strong Divine Arts.

Only level three and below, as Intermediate Divine Power, she can easily achieve that.

Then, Hill suddenly recalled something: ”Have Ambori and Olypher reconciled?”

”Seems like it.” Shaer replied more actively this time... she didn’t want to appear less knowledgeable than Lansendel, ”That continent had normal seasons after Wunuoou arrived.”

Lalakond, or rather the place where Maztica used to be, should be closer to South America.

It’s not without snow, after all, they also have towering peaks.

But still belongs to a subtropical climate.

The sudden change in seasons must be due to the will of the deities.

If it were Maztica, Olypher’s actions would indeed not work... but above Lalakond, there are basically no natives.

Those Cat People Hill also knows.

Although the cats have considerable strength, they are too delicate and simply can’t compete with the Giant Dragons, so Toril is like heaven for them.

Moreover, although these cats make good assassins, as long as they can sustain themselves, they don’t tend to cause trouble.

Seasonal changes are nothing compared to the foul breath from a dragon’s mouth, right?

For Olypher, it truly is a new world.

”Oh, I see!” Lansendel belatedly spoke, ”No wonder there are so many women on those Serpent People’s ships.”

Hill blinked... Olypher is indeed shrewder than Ambori.

In Wunuoou’s forces, the Lizardfolk are the main force.

But only when Serpent People appear alongside human women does it not attract attention... Serpent People, have a broad range of preferences.

Lizardfolk, however, only prefer their own kind.

And Wunuoou being willing to accept Olypher and them to enter the New Continent might also relate to Lalakond being a mineral continent, with most of the area resembling a desert.
