Apocalypse Gachapon

Chapter 2311: Change of rules

Lan Zha, originally named Li Kan, was a good friend Ye Zhongming had known in his previous life.

Although this time around, due to the butterfly effect of his actions, Li Kanʼs experiences had changed considerably, through years of secret observation, Ye Zhongming found that his former friendʼs temperament had not changed.

Calm and composed, yet decisive and swift in action.

Most importantly, his unwavering loyalty remained.

Earlier, through an opportunity, he had been recruited into Cloud Peak and placed in Liang Chuyinʼs squad for training. Without any special treatment, Li Kan had risen step by step from an ordinary soldier to the rank of battalion commander, leading ten thousand men. He was one of several major leaders under Liang Chuyin.

In the recent land-sea battle, Li Kan had been severely wounded. Just as Ye Zhongming returned and learned of this, he used the opportunity to have him presumed dead, gave him a new identity as Lan Zha, and placed him in the Chameleon Operations Team.

This naturally had the intent of inserting his own man, though it was not out of distrust toward Zhao Xiangxue, Blunt Knife, or Eye—rather, it was a matter of caution and maintaining balance.

After Ye Zhongming went to the sky, although the Chameleon would report directly to Xia Lei, she was not one of its founders after all. Many of the Chameleonʼs high-level members, influenced by its founding principles, did not truly accept Xia Lei internally, even if she was Ye Zhongmingʼs woman. They were loyal only to Ye Zhongming alone.

In the future, Ye Zhongming would have very few chances to return to Earth before the Slave Race was defeated. If he let the Chameleon continue on its current path, it could become dangerous. He had to prevent a situation where Cloud Peak Villa was Cloud Peak Villa and the Chameleon was the Chameleon—or worse, the Chameleon turning against Cloud Peak.

Ye Zhongming could not guarantee that such a scenario wouldnʼt happen if he were away for several years or even over a decade, so he had to plan ahead.

Even if the worst he feared never came to pass, and he eventually took the other Chameleon leaders up to the sky with him, starting a smooth transition of power at the top wouldnʼt be a bad thing.

The Chameleon members nodded to Lan Zha in acknowledgment.

Gao Yi, meanwhile, was visibly excited—his eyes made it clear for all to see.

Following the boss to venture out had always been his dream.

Next, the Chameleon leaders began reporting on recent events, filling in the gaps in Ye Zhongmingʼs knowledge of Earth during his absence.

After the report, Gao Yi stayed behind while the others left. Those selected to go up to the myriad races through the entry ticket route were called in.

The Death King Tree, Xia Bai, and Liang Chuyin.

”You three know each other well, and Gao Yi knows you well, but you donʼt know much about Gao Yi. So today, the main purpose is to introduce him to you—after all, in the future, youʼll be fighting together for a long time.”

Ye Zhongmingʼs tone toward them was very gentle.

”Gao Yi, captain of the Chameleon Operations Team, and one of its founders. From its inception to now, he has executed a total of 372 missions of various types, all successful without a single failure. This includes three records of killing peer-level opponents—one mutated lifeform, one parasite, and one nine-star evolver.”

Ye Zhongmingʼs brief statement caused the other threeʼs gazes toward Gao Yi to shift slightly.

The Chameleon was always mysterious; no one knew who its members were or what they did. Hearing now about a Chameleon leader who had killed peer-level opponents more than once inevitably stirred feelings.

”Gao Yi has the Pangu bloodline—a burst type. When activated, his combat power increases sharply. Now that heʼs a nine-star evolved, when he activates his bloodline, he can unleash combat power roughly equivalent to a thousand Furelai.”

At that, even the usually indifferent Death King Tree sat up a little.

Clearly, after activating his bloodline, Gao Yiʼs combat power was enough to place him among the top three at Cloud Peak!

Aside from Xia Bai, with the Red Female Guardʼs team buffs, no one could firmly surpass him—not even the Death King Tree.

No wonder he had killed so many peer-level opponents—this bloodline was truly that powerful.

”Once youʼre up there, your main jobs will disappear. This wonʼt affect... Luo, much. It will have little effect on Xia Bai, a major effect on Chuyin, and a moderate effect on Gao Yi.”

Ye Zhongming wasnʼt sure how to address the Death King Tree, so he used the first character of ”Luoshen Fir” as a placeholder.

”Regarding this issue, youʼll need to adapt well during the time before you go up. I also have specific plans designed for you—just coordinate with Red Sister.”

With experience, Ye Zhongming naturally wouldnʼt let those going up after him go unprepared. He would arm his chosen ones to the teeth.

”Donʼt be nervous. Basically, it means upgrading your bloodlines to the highest level, using various items and medicines that permanently increase physical stats to push your bodies to Earthʼs limits, and performing controlled genetic enhancements to a certain degree.”

Everyone nodded at that, even the Death King Tree, who fully understood what they would face up there.

”Besides that, when the pickup day comes, I may not necessarily be at the Star-Eye Clan, so I need to tell you my objectives in advance.”

Ye Zhongming was quite busy now. After returning to the sky, he might have to shuttle between the Su Clan, the She Ke Star people, and even the Library Palace, and there was a good chance he would miss the period right after the pickup day. So he needed to make clear to these representatives what they were to do once they arrived.

”The entry tickets I obtained at considerable effort are all Star-Eye Clan proxy tickets. After you go up, youʼll be taken to the Star-Eye Clan together for a period of training. If Iʼm not there, just follow their arrangements. After that, youʼll enter the Novice Battlefield.”

”My requirement for you is not only to survive the Novice Battlefield, but to achieve the best possible results. Aside from dominating the top four ranks of the leaderboard, you should also help the two other ticket holders from Europe and the Americas—who are on our side—to secure high rankings.”

”The resources gained from ranking high in the Novice Battlefield are very important to me. They involve a series of future matters, so there can be no mistakes!”

Ye Zhongming looked at the four seriously.

”You will face many hardships and great dangers. Because of what Iʼve done up there, Iʼve offended several major races. You will inevitably be targeted by many races as a means to strike at me and the Star-Eye Clan. They will specifically go after you, so you must be careful.”

”That makes it more interesting.” Liang Chuyin smiled. ”Will they know about our connection?”

Ye Zhongming nodded. ”Most likely, yes. But it doesnʼt make much difference either way—as long as you represent the Star-Eye Clan in the Novice Battlefield, you will be attacked.”

The Cloud Peak King narrowed his eyes slightly. ”Star-Eye Clan members being targeted—this situation might last for several years of Novice Battlefields. But believe me, every year they wonʼt succeed. We will come in first.”

As he spoke, Ye Zhongming glanced slightly toward the sky outside the window.

”When they canʼt take it anymore and start breaking their own rules, thatʼs when our new rules will take the stage.”
