The Incubus System

Chapter 853: Snap!

The Incubus System Chapter 843. Snap!

ʼWho am I?ʼ he echoed my question.

ʼI donʼt know, I donʼt know,ʼ the voice returned again.

It was weird, the almost childlike simplicity in its response. The voice seemed to lack of intelligence.

It was curious, and not in a good way.

ʼWhat makes you think I will bring calamity?ʼ I inquired.

But once again, the response was met with an unsettling silence.

ʼThree worlds cannot be one…ʼ It muttered, almost as though reciting a dire prophecy.

ʼBut you have the blood of the three worlds. You will bring calamity…ʼ it warned.

The mention of the three worlds and the prophecy like quality in his words pricked my curiosity. I had to know more.

ʼWho are you? Are you the border guardian?ʼ I ventured.

ʼHow did you know I would bring calamity?ʼ I persisted.

His response was chilling.

ʼI know. I know. Cause Iʼm in this place. Cause Iʼm watching you!ʼ

Suddenly, the colossal eye loomed before me, a massive orb fixated on me with intensity. Its gaze felt piercing and intense. An involuntary gasp escaped my lips.

The transition from the dreamlike state to the vividness felt jarring, leaving me disoriented. The impact of the vision lingered.

Startled, I snapped my eyes open, a sharp gasp escaping my lips. My heart hammered within my chest, racing furiously as I struggled to shake off the remnants of the haunting dream. Beads of sweat dotted my forehead and trickled down my temples.

Glancing toward the nearby clock, it showed 05:21 PM.

Only minutes had passed since I dozed off into that dream.

”Snap…” I muttered, feeling the bed underneath as I sank down, trying to regain some composure.

My heart was still thumping like a bass drum at a rock concert. It was like my brain couldnʼt catch up with reality yet. The dream felt so vivid, so real.

Was it a premonition or just my subconscious playing tricks on me?

ʼIt should be a dream,ʼ I mumbled internally, trying to rationalize what just occurred.

The absence of any system announcement, something like entering or leaving Purielʼs dream spell indicated that this might have been an intricate fabrication of my mind.

But then again, there was this lingering unease that didnʼt quite fit with the usual dreams I had. It felt too significant, too real to brush off entirely. So I would handle this as a real warning.

ʼMaybe because Erebus has kicked his ass before?ʼ I mused.

Or maybe it was something to do with my unique bloodline, a trait that Puriel had mentioned?

But what sort of calamity could I possibly bring?

Would I transform into some colossal monster out of the blue?

It felt absurd.

I sat up on the bed, glancing around my room, my eyes scrutinizing every corner. There was a slight unease, a lingering sense that maybe, just maybe, that colossal eye could still be watching.

I scanned the room, looking for any sign of an anomaly or a rift, anything that might validate the eerie experience Iʼd just had. The curtains billowed gently in the soft breeze that seeped in through the window. The room seemed as normal as it could be.

I raked my gaze over the walls, the ceiling, even checking under the bed, half-expecting to find an otherworldly crack or some obscure rift. But there was nothing, just the familiar and mundane surroundings.

Restlessness pricked at my mind.

If that colossal eye had been more than a dream, if it truly had a way to observe me, that would certainly be unsettling.

I hoped that it wasnʼt the case. The thought of some unknown entity peering into my private moments wasnʼt a welcome one.

I decided that a trip to the coffee shop to meet Larry might help shake off the eerie feeling.

I hopped out of bed and snapped my fingers, invoking my Demonʼs Clothes skill.

My wallet and phone were next on my checklist. I grabbed them, making sure I had everything I needed for my meeting.

As I made my way to the bedroom door, I called out to Celia. ”Celia, Iʼm heading out to see Larry for a bit,” I informed her.

”Okay,” her response came.
