The Epic Tale of Chaos vs Order

Chapter 1780: Silent enemy

Cain had no idea that his name had already reached the highest realms of the Crimson World. At that moment, he simply followed the Lord of the Void through the chaos, making his way toward the latter’s Divine Kingdom. His expression was solemn, growing heavier with each step. The weight on his shoulders was the result of knowledge, or more accurately the lack of it.

Along with the insight granted by the Oniric Truth, Cain had also obtained the Sun Lord’s memories. Though he had already gained some during their battle in the Demon King’s castle, these newly acquired memories were more complete. And yet, one thing remained absent—any useful information about the strange, otherworldly force that the Sun Lord had drawn upon to momentarily shackle the Demon King in the Primeval World.

It was a force that did not belong to the Sun Lord. That much was clear. Cain was convinced that someone—or something—of a far higher existence had used the Sun Lord as a puppet, orchestrating a proxy war against the Demon King.

For a brief moment, he had even considered the possibility that the Lord of the Void himself was that mysterious puppet master. But once Cain learn about the true power of the Demon King, he discarded that theory entirely. Even someone as formidable as the Lord of the Void would be crushed beneath that magnitude of strength.

When Cain absorbed the Sun Lord’s soul and True Name and delved into his mind, he had hoped to finally unravel the truth. Instead, he found only silence. A deliberate silence.

”Whoever that entity is,” Cain thought grimly, ”they erased every memory linking the Sun Lord to them. They could have killed him outright, but instead they chose a subtler, more clandestine path. Quiet. Untraceable. Conspicuous only to those who know what to look for.”

He still did not know the identity of the entity manipulating events from the shadows, but one thing was clear—they valued secrecy above all else.

”You seem troubled,” said the Lord of the Void, his deep voice cutting through Cain’s inner reflections.

Cain blinked and nodded, snapping out of his thoughts. ”I’m fine,” he said, steadying himself and returning his focus to the path ahead.

The Divine Kingdom of the Lord of the Void was colossal—easily dwarfing Cain’s own. But size alone was just one part of its might. The very air was dense with ancient energy. The atmosphere radiated such overwhelming pressure that it formed clouds of energy and cosmic forces.

”It’s not much weaker than Tiamat’s Eternal Kingdom,” Cain observed. ”He’s clearly a true hegemon of the Chaos Beyond the Second Realm.”

They passed massive structures, each one emanating a powerful aura. Some shimmered with divine runes, others pulsed with chaotic energy. All around them, billions of life forms moved with purpose. Most appeared humanoid, though many bore features more akin to beasts or otherworldly monsters.

While most of these beings were cultivators of the Physical Realm, Cain noticed millions who had reached the Divine Realm. A few had even stepped into the Third Realm, though they had yet to fully unlock their Oniric Truths.

Despite their differences, the inhabitants all lived in harmony, seemingly bound together by the laws of the Divine Kingdom. They trained their bodies and spirits, maintaining a symbiotic relationship with the kingdom, and nurturing it with their insight and cultivation.

Before long, Cain and the Lord of the Void reached a massive, looming tower at the heart of the kingdom. Unlike the other buildings, this one was pitch black. Heavy chains, inscribed with ancient runes, coiled around it like serpents, sealing whatever lay within.

”This is my dungeon,” the Lord of the Void said, his tone dark and final. ”Inside are the fools who dared to betray or challenge me. Nineteen Prima Deities are imprisoned within.”

He paused, then turned toward Cain, a meaningful light flickering in his gaze.

”I care little for their lives. But killing them outright would provoke rage. Worse, some might still retain hidden techniques—ways to send their True Names back to their original Divine Kingdoms and achieve rebirth.”

Cain nodded in silent understanding. The warning was clear: dead gods attract questions, retaliation, and instability.

Without a word, Cain raised his hand. A vast surge of red flame burst forth, manifesting into a towering gate behind him. The gate seemed to open into a different realm entirely—one that devoured light, silence, and even the concept of escape.

The Lord of the Void’s eyes widened as he beheld the gate. The aura it emitted was beyond deep. It was primordial—a level of mystical power far beyond anything a Prima Deity should be capable of wielding.

”This is my throne,” Cain said, his voice cold and unwavering. ”Once inside, nothing can leave. Not even True Names.”

The gate pulsed with a quiet fury, red flames flickering within Cain’s chest as his heart burned with ruthless determination.

The Lord of the Void stared at him for a long moment. For all his own ancient power, he found himself troubled by how many questions Cain provoked simply by existing. Still, he was an Arch-Deity—his will was iron. After a breath, he regained his composure.

”Yes,” he said. ”That will ensure their annihilation. But that still leaves the problem that will arise by their deaths?”

Cain smiled slightly, sensing the true question behind the words. The Lord of the Void wanted to learn what Cain had to offer in exchange for those Prima Deities.

”I will help you weaken the Ancestor of Heaven and Earth.”

The moment those words reached the Lord of the Void’s ears, an inferno of killing intent surged within him. The fury that ignited in his soul nearly exploded outward, but he clenched his jaw and forced himself to remain still.

Cain was not surprised by the reaction. From the memories of the Sun Lord, he had already learned that long ago, the Lord of the Void had tried to establish his own Divine Kingdom in the Second Realm. He had come close to success—so close that he had nearly formed his own Eternal Kingdom. But then, the Ancestor of Heaven and Earth intervened, launching a devastating attack that shattered the Lord’s ambitions and forced him back into the Chaos.

The Arch-Deity took a long, deep breath, pushing down the storm within his soul. Then he turned his eyes to Cain, staring with sharp, glacial focus.

”Explain.”
