The Epic Tale of Chaos vs Order

Chapter 1585: Surpassing the limits of the Soul Realm!

No matter how formidable or bizarre the enemy before him, Cain’s resolve stood firm. He refused to bend beneath the overwhelming pressure. His entire being thrummed with energy as his Unified Origin Force burst outward, causing the ground beneath his feet to crack.

“Arrrghhhh!”

A thunderous roar tore from his throat as he lunged forward, determined not to surrender the momentum of the fight.

“BOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMM!”

In the blink of an eye, Cain’s Shooting Star Dragon Halberd collided with Reverend Madness’s sword. Their clashing powers produced a massive black-and-white shockwave that tore the earth apart and made the sky itself tremble.

Cain clenched his teeth, pouring every ounce of power he possessed into his halberd. Yet, despite his full strength, he managed only to match the force of a single-handed sword swing from Reverend Madness.

He then caught sight of a nightmarish entity emerging from the staff and aiming its fangs at his neck. Reacting instantly, Cain opened his mouth and unleashed a storm of shadow flames, battering the creature backward. However, that momentary distraction gave Reverend Madness the opening he needed to twist the sword’s angle, parry the halberd aside, and unleash a second slash.

Nightmarish energy crackled around the blade as it struck Cain’s torso, biting through flesh and protective aura. The force of the blow propelled him thousands of meters away, cutting a ragged groove through scorched soil.

Cain drove the butt of his halberd into the ground to stop himself. A searing pain flared along his ribs. The sword strike had not only lacerated him physically but also carried a spirit-based element. Luckily, the protective shield placed by the Sky Sovereign still guarded his mind and soul, though the strain on it was evident. Cracks had begun to form in the intricate runes that served as his spiritual barrier.

Before Cain could catch his breath or consider his next move, Reverend Madness hurtled toward him like a dark comet. A cold, predatory grin tugged at the corners of his mouth, and his sword and staff began to shift. Nightmarish energy fused with a sundered force, forming what looked like the blade of a demonic scythe sprouting from a chitinous insect.

Cain’s eyes widened when he felt the immense pressure radiating from that combined weapon. Every instinct in his body screamed danger.

“Dammit!”

Inwardly cursing, he realized he had no choice but to burn a portion of his life force and soul force. Power raged through his veins like molten fire, magnifying his strength. He thrust his halberd forward, summoning a colossal dragon claw of star-forged energy.

“BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMM!”

The blazing claw met the demonic scythe in a cataclysmic explosion that momentarily distorted space. The chaotic energies tore open ragged voids, glimpses of fractured dimensions shimmering in the air before collapsing. Both Cain and Reverend Madness were blasted in opposite directions.

Cain felt his arms tremble under the recoil, and blood trickled from his mouth. Meanwhile, Reverend Madness landed effortlessly, bracing himself with his sword and staff. His smile widened, revealing a perverse delight. It was as though he relished every moment of fierce combat, savoring a thrill denied to him for eons.

“Hahaha!”

A burst of laughter echoed across the battleground as Reverend Madness sprang back into action, sword and staff blazing with black starlight. Cain tightened his grip on his halberd. His arms shook, and the spiritual shield around his mind thinned. Nonetheless, his gaze never wavered. Star Power and the Laws he commanded flared around him like a rising sun, pushing back the oppressive darkness.

“BOOOOOOOMMMMMM!”

Detonations shook the battlefield one after another as Cain and Reverend Madness exchanged blow after blow. Their clashing energies warped reality to such an extent that the survivors of the Night Prince’s faction—those who had not already fled—were hurled away by the shockwaves. The very air around them bent and twisted, groaning under the onslaught of colliding Star Power, Laws, and nightmare force.

Cain fought with every ounce of will he possessed. Each strike, parry, and counter carried a primal resolve. He pushed his martial abilities to the absolute limit, drawing on hidden reserves of strength awakened by the life-threatening danger. Still, fresh injuries kept appearing across his body. Reverend Madness’s power was too overwhelming, his technique too refined, to allow Cain a clean hit.

No matter how many times Cain fueled his blows with burnt soul force or unleashed the star-forged might of his halberd, he could not land a direct attack. His foe’s cunning and speed made it seem like Reverend Madness was toying with him, constantly staying half a step ahead.

At last, Cain managed to block a vicious sword swing—only for the staff to crash directly into the gaping wound in his chest. Pain shot through him as if a lightning bolt had struck his heart. Before he could retaliate, a wave of burning soul energy in the shape of a nightmarish, shadowy beast erupted from the staff.

“BOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMM!”

The impact blew Cain away like a shattered doll, forcing blood from his lips. Chunks of torn flesh and pieces of his internal organs came spilling out as he tumbled head over heels. Agony flared through every nerve, but the physical damage was not the worst of it. In the midst of that blast, the runic spirit shield inside his mind cracked and finally shattered. The psychic aftershock tore into his soul, sending black fireworks of pain across his consciousness.

By sheer force of will, Cain forced himself to land on his feet rather than collapse. His vision blurred, and the glow in his eyes flickered. The assault on his soul threatened to lock up his thoughts entirely, rendering him helpless.

Reverend Madness noticed at once, and his smile became a cruel slash across his face as he dashed forward. Raising his arms high, he called upon sundered energies and nightmarish power. The staff warped further, shifting into a scythe-like form that paired neatly with the sword. He then brought them together in a cross-slash meant to sever Cain’s head.

The twin weapons bore down on him, slicing through the air in a deadly arc.

“CLANK!”

Just as they were about to strike, Cain’s left hand moved with uncanny precision. He angled his halberd forward and slammed it against both blades at their weakest point, jarring them just enough to break Reverend Madness’s stance. The ancient monster’s eyes widened in shock as his arms were flung upward from the sudden impact.

Before he could recover, a flaming fist caught him square in the face, and the collision rang out like a thunderclap. Reverend Madness reeled backward, feeling bone threaten to crack under the force.

Sword and staff dug furrows into the earth as he ground them to stop his momentum. The moment he stabilized, he lifted his gaze back toward Cain—and froze. He saw two eyes flared with red flames, radiating a willpower that surpassed the limits of the Soul Realm!
