My Youth Began With Him

“Which Dr. Liu?” Huo Mian didn’t make the connection right away.

South Side was huge, and there were numerous Dr. Liu’s. She couldn’t have known which one it was.

“Doctor Liu Ze.”

“What’s wrong with him?” Huo Mian never liked Liu Ze and had her guard up.

Huo Mian wasn’t worried, she was even a little repulsed and suspicious.

“He fainted in the operating room.”

“Fainted? Did he finish the operation?”

“Yeah, luckily. We wouldn’t have time to find another doctor otherwise.”

“Okay, I’ll have a look.”

The news of Liu Ze fainting inside the operating room spread like wildfire.

Director Wu wasn’t present frequently, so as a high-level executive, Huo Mian had to investigate.

-Inside the ER –

“The Vice Director is here, make way.”

Seeing Huo Mian enter made everyone move out of the way…

“Dr. Zhao, how is Dr. Liu?” Huo Mian asked the physician in charge.

“I ran some tests, he has low blood sugar… He has been working overtime a lot recently… He worked the graveyard shift a few days in a row and performed three major surgeries. He fainted from exhaustion and low blood sugar. I suggest that you give him paid leave.”

“Okay, I know.”

After hearing that nothing major happened, Huo Mian let out a sigh of relief.

When she entered the emergency room, Liu Ze was already awake. He looked very frail.

He still smiled when he saw Huo Mian…

“Vice Director… You’re here.”

“Rest well. How could you tire yourself out and work overtime if you have low blood sugar?” Huo Mian asked.

“We’re running short on staff in our department. Dr. Wang’s daughter is ill and I gave her an early leave. I thought I could make it for a few days, but who knew my luck would be this bad and I would run into three big surgeries. Haha,” he tiredly smiled.

“We need to look after ourselves first so we can save others. I’ll give you a week break.”

“No, if I go on leave, our department will be more empty,” Liu Ze objected.

“Don’t worry, I’ll arrange things. You just focus on getting better.”

After speaking, Huo Mian turned to leave.

“Vice Director…”

“What is it?”

“Do… you really detest me?” Liu Ze suddenly asked.

“Why do you say that? As an executive, I view all as equal,” Huo Mian diplomatically said.

You’re lying. I know that you hate me and Zhang Manlin. Ha, you hate her because she flirted with your husband. Why do you dislike me? We were classmates after all, I don’t understand.”

“I don’t dislike you, Doctor Liu. You’re thinking too much.”

“If you don’t dislike me, can we shake on it?” Liu Ze extended his hand.

Huo Mian didn’t want to, but all the doctors and nurses were watching.

If she didn’t give Liu Ze some breathing room, it would show that she was extremely petty. So, she unwillingly shook his hand.

The instant she did, Zhang Manlin took a picture and sent it to Qin Chu on Weibo.

“President Qin, it seems like our Vice Director cares about Dr. Liu a lot…” she wrote.
