Child of Destiny

Chapter 2216: The Ninth Movement

...

Realizing the core of the problem, Shin decided to use his big moves now.

He raised the [Yamato], which was currently in ʼChaos Slasher Possessionʼ, and pointed it toward the sky.

Crackle! Crackle!

The black and white arcs of lightning danced around the sword before spreading toward every direction, warding off the ice serpents that were trying to swarm at him.

Swoosh! Swoosh!

At the same time, the clouds in the sky had started to turn dark. They had rapidly gathered and spun in the sky as if a massive storm was about to arrive.

Boom!

Thunder roared, announcing its overwhelming presence, while lightning arcs swam through the dark clouds, crackling like black-and-white snakes.

Shing!

Not long after, Shin suddenly swung his sword down, drawing a shining vertical line in the air in front of him.

Crackle! Crackle!

A giant pillar of lightning then followed, descending from the center of the spinning clouds as if it came from the Nine Heavens.

Boom!

Along with the explosion of the roaring thunder, the giant lightning pillar struck the ground, creating a massive crater right at the center of its epicenter and sending a series of overlapping shockwaves in every direction.

Roar! Roar!

Not long after, deafening roars from the pair of tigers suddenly reverberated through the sky, followed by a series of lightning strikes that immediately struck the region.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The pillars of lightning annihilated everything on their path, more specifically the ice serpents that were coming from the cracks of the ground.

All of them evaporated and turned into mists under the might of the majestic lightning storm, which seemed to be trying to strike their main source.

Hiss! Hiss! Hiss!

However, this was just the start since Leviathan had finally shown some response. ”Hup!”

Understanding that Shin was planning to finish the swarm of ice snakes coming from cracks on the ground to create an opening to attack him, Leviathan immediately poured more Demonic Powers into the demonic orb before him, even sacrificing most of his remaining powers into it.

Crack! Crack!

Boom!

The fissures spreading throughout the region had become larger before releasing an even more foul and sinister energy that seemed to be coming from an extremely evil dimension.

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

A blanket of black miasma immediately started to rise from these fissures, followed by an even larger and more terrifying swarm of ice serpents coming from darkness underneath.

A vast expanse of ice serpents emerged from those fissures. They seemed to be at least tens of thousands of serpents that flew straight to the sky to confront the descending lightning that was trying to purify the land.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Even after realizing that they were at the losing end, the swarm did not stop and converged instead. If they could not face the lightning pillars by themselves, then they would gather at one spot and form an even more massive demonic serpent.

This demonic ice serpent had an extremely colossal body that had a body that seemed to be covered by an extremely thick yet flexible ice armor that was protecting its body.

Roar!

Raising its head, the colossal demonic serpent released a terrifying roar that was rivaling the deafening roars of thunder from the dark sky.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

It endured the lightning strikes that were repeatedly bombarding its body while continuing to charge at Shin, who was cautiously and rapidly rising toward the sky, carried by his pair of Nephilimʼs Wings.

”Given my current state, I may be able to use the Ninth Sword Movement of the Jade Kirin Scripture, especially with the help of my Heart Realm Technique,” he mumbled before gathering more Lightning Elemental Mana from the surroundings.

”It should be the peak of the Advanced Mentalism Technique, approaching the threshold of Master Level,” he added, recalling all the sword movements within the technique.

From what he knew, it composed thirteen movements in total and was divided into four major realms, namely the basic level, intermediate level, advanced level, and master level.

These levels also directly reflected his attainments in terms of Mentalism. The Basic Level and Intermediate Level were achievable at the entry to middle level of the Grandmaster Realm, while the Advanced Level was something that he could only use after achieving the Grandmaster Realm, which was his current realm.

As for the Master Realm, it was something that he could only use after reaching the threshold of the Ruler Realm, which was equivalent to the Void Manifestation Stage of Martial Arts Discipline.

Shin would need to have firm control over his Spiritual Force before he could even reach that level of technique.

Each level was also composed of three sword movements, which slowly converged the higher the level he reached.

As for the thirteenth and final movement, it was at the realm of Venerability in terms of Mentalism, the Venerable Realm, which was equal to the Domain Realm of Martial Arts.

The thirteenth technique was the ultimate form of this sword technique, which was also where all forms and essence of the previous sword movements converged as one.

With his current realm and mentalism attainment, Shin was eligible to use the Ninth Movement, which should be one of his strongest sword techniques at the moment.

Whoosh!

Focusing his mind, Shin released the ʼDivine Constellation Possessionʼ of [Durendal] before removing the Meteor Form of the ʼMondiʼs Styleʼ, returning the legendary sword into its sheath form.

Huu~!

Inhaling deeply, Shin gently sheathed the [Yamato], which was still in its ʼChaos Slasher Possessionʼ.

Click!

Right after the subtle sound of the swordʼs lid and the sheath being locked rang, everything in the surroundings seemed to have come to a sudden halt, including the raging storm in the sky.

Click!

When he slightly unsheathed the sword once again, the same sound rang in the air.

Crackle! Crackle!

But right after he did this, the earlier calmness was instantly broken!

Boom! Boom!

The lightning storm raged once more, but with an even stronger intensity and more destructive tendencies.

Moreover, they did not charge at the colossal demonic ice serpent and converged toward Shin, bathing him and his half-unsheathed sword with pillars of lightning.

He looked like a majestic god of lightning and thunder, which was further heightened by the blanket of lightning currents behind him.

This lightning blanket and his shadow cloak seemed to have entered a fusion state, complementing their appearance and making it even more stunning.

Boom!

Immediately after, flashes of lightning suddenly appeared out of nowhere, crisscrossing in the air and intertwining with each other. They had formed a huge network of lightning arcs that covered the entire region while also destroying everything that they came in contact with.

For those who were familiar with Shin and his techniques, this scene seemed to have been created by multiple ʼThunder Eclipseʼ sent out in every direction, making their might even more destructive and terrifying.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

At this moment, the entire world seemed to have turned into a world of lightning and thunder!

Even the powerful and colossal Demonic Ice Serpent collapsed under the might of these lightning flashes, annihilating it despite the powerful ice armor protecting its body.

The ground had also started becoming affected, especially when most of the lightning arcs crashed into it, particularly the dark fissures in them.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Due to their bombardment, the demonic formation had also started showing some cracks in it, signifying that it had also taken some damage.

...

Seeing this scene, Leviathan immediately felt a sudden sense of foreboding, forcing him to reveal his final card earlier.

”D*mn this monster! I was originally planning to use this later as a form of ambush on them once everything has failed, but I have no other choice now,” he repeatedly cursed Shin after releasing something big was coming.

Shing!

He took a sword from his inventory.

The blade of this sword seemed to be made of ice, which also carried a resemblance to the spine of a snake or a dragon due to its segmented parts that were stacked together.

Its guard, which was extending toward four different directions, looked like fins of an oceanic creature, which were thin, sharp, and somewhat serrated.

The blades were also constantly releasing a chilling fog that signified how cold it was. Even the mana in the surrounding area seemed to be frozen as well. There were also snowflakes appearing around the sword, signifying how cold it was.

Swoosh!

He then hesitated for a moment before forcefully conjuring another ice clone in exchange for weakening the other three ice clones that were already on the verge of collapsing.

He then stepped out of his current position, seemingly planning to make a move himself.

He brought the demonic orb with him, not confident that nothing would happen to it once he left it with the clone. This was an extremely important treasure that he had borrowed from Lucier in exchange for an absurd price, both inside the game and the real world.

If he had lost it somehow, then he would not know what would happen.

Wielding the icy spine sword in his right hand, Leviathan raised his head and stared at Shin. ”This [Permafrost] sword is too violent and hard to control. I can only use it to attack once, so I have to pour everything into this one attack.”

He was naturally aware of Felicia observing them from the distance, but he was not too concerned about her since he knew that she would not be able to do anything once he defeated Shin.

Even if she took advantage of his weakened state later, the Demonic Formation would already be at its fullest state, making it impossible to stop.

That was unless she was like Shin, who was right within the formation itself and had the means to destroy it in one go.

Setting her aside, Leviathan put all his focus on Shin while channeling all his remaining demonic powers into the sword in his hand.

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

He had also borrowed some energy from the demonic orb in his other hand to further enhance the power that he could accumulate.

Wail!

The eerie cries of ghosts and vengeful spirits immediately filled the entire region, seemingly coming from the dark fissures scattered throughout the entire place.

These cries seemed to be mixed with those calling for help, saving them from their sufferings, and those that were tempting anyone who heard them to join them to the other side.

Their collected cries fought against the majestic roars of the thunder in the sky, seemingly contesting against each other.

”I refuse to believe that you can use that technique multiple times!” said Leviathan with a smirk before throwing his strongest attack.

With the reinforcements of the icy and invisible strings that he had attached to himself, Leviathan suddenly swung the sword, causing its segregated parts to separate from each other and making the blade stretch into an extremely long and flexible sword.

Wail~!

Carrying the cries of countless ghosts and spirits that were seemingly living within the sword, Leviathan twisted his wrist, making the whip sword spiral around him to generate an even stronger momentum before thrusting the sword forward.

Wail~!

A colossal face of a demonic being had manifested behind Leviathan at this point, which then fused with the spiraling sword that was flying straight toward Shinʼs direction.

ʼDemonic Mariotte Skill (Pseudo Tier 4): Art of Sword Puppetry – Wailing Ghostsʼ

This skill was further augmented by the combined powers of the powerful sword in his hand and the demonic orb in the other, creating an even more terrifying attack that covered half of the region.

Swoosh! Swoosh!

There seemed to be a massive snowstorm raging toward Shin, who was still in the almost divine state of a god of lightning and thunder after using his earlier move.

Understanding the current situation, Shin fully unsheathed the [Yamato], producing a massive image of a three-eyed tiger beast standing behind him.

This beast image was the projection of Blackie and Whitie when their powers fully fused with one another and reached their perfect state.

Roar!

It then released a thunderous roar that dominated the entire sky, seemingly announcing its presence.

It was at this moment that Shin swung his sword with all his might, taking advantage of all the strengthening effects that he had gotten from the ʼThunderbolt Mantleʼ technique.

BOOM!

He then released a seemingly endless arc of lightning that rivalled the might of the ʼThunder Eclipseʼ sword movement in every attack.

They then crisscrossed and intertwined with one another while moving forward, turning into a massive lightning storm that clashed against the incoming snowstorm of his opponent.

Boom!
