Child of Destiny

Chapter 2204: Stumbling into the Unexpected

...

Swoosh!

Right after exiting the Tower of Inheritance, Shin appeared outside the other, right in front of its metal doors.

He had also been bombarded by a series of questions from his contracted elemental spirits right after exiting the tower. After all, they had temporarily lost their contact with him right after he entered and chose which inheritance path he wanted to improve.

The noisiest one was undoubtedly Silvana, who was currently crying and constantly nagging him, while the rest kept themselves.

Hanzo and Solus were naturally curious about what was inside the tower and what Shin had done within it to take him such a long time to exit. However, they also knew that they could not carelessly ask for it.

Shin spent quite a lot of time trying to calm Silvana down before sending everything back to the Reaperʼs Realm.

He still had quite a lot of things to do now, so he had to hurry and deal with them with the bit of time that he had at hand.

He then opened his quest panel and looked at the ongoing and pending quests that he currently had before mumbling. ”I canʼt do much with the others, so I think it is best to look for that Holy Maiden of the Temple of Moon, who is also the sister of the later Fifth Envoy of the Church of the Sun and Moon.”

”Then I can ask her about the other inheritance item related to the ones that I have, the [Ring of Abyssal Moon]. With it, I will have a complete set of accessories.”

He currently had the [Ring of the Brilliant Sun] and the [Proof of Eclipse] as a necklace, which were also an Inheritance and a Dissonant Wish Item, respectively.

There was also the [Badge of God-Slayer Army], which was in his badge slot. It was also giving him the rank of Lieutenant Colonel within the God-Slayer Army, which further heightened his status, aside from the amazing stats that it provided.

These accessories were already beyond the reach of regular players.

From his initial guess, the [Proof of Eclipse] and the [Ring of the Brilliant Sun] were a set along with the [Ring of the Abyssal Moon], which was in the hands of the Holy Maiden at the Temple of the Moon within the Elven Territory, more specifically the Alfheim Kingdom, which was the land of Elves, Fairies, and Nymphs at the Awakened Continent.

So long as he got his hands on this complete set, Shin felt that he would reach a whole other level. He also suspected that it would give him a great surprise once he completed the set.

He just did not know if other pieces of the set were meant for the earring and badge slots.

As for the other two accessory slots that the players had, the energy gem and combat rune slots, no one had a clear clue about them yet.

”Since I still have no news about the boss monsters that I have to hunt for collecting the materials meant for the Divine Armor, then I guess I can only head to the Elven Territory for the time being,” he mumbled, deciding what to do next.

After that, in mind, Shin took out the exit token that was rewarded to him right after exiting the Tower of Inheritance.

He turned behind him to give the tower one last glance before crushing the token to leave this secret land.

Crash!

Whoosh!

Right after the token was crushed, Shin was swallowed by a blinding light, transporting him out of the Secret Land of the fallen Immortal Empire.

…

”Hmm!?”

Right after Shin disappeared from the secret land, a voice seemed to have sounded from the depths of the region.

It seemed to be coming from the center of the massive lake that was encircled by the massive ring island of the entire secret land.

”So, the kid has finally left.”

”Passing the third floor and two extra trials, Zheptus seems to have found a decent successor this time around.”

”A good seeding. An extremely good seeding.”

”It is just a pity that he is already carrying too much of a burden with such young shoulders.”

”I wonder if there will be anyone who takes on my mantle as well.”

The voice seemed to be filled with regret and sadness as it reverberated throughout the entire secret land.

Every being that heard this voice seemed to have been affected by it, making them react in different ways.

Some trembled in terror, as if reminded of something terrifying from their past. The others looked in the direction from which the voice was coming in awe, seemingly filled with worship.

The rest, on the other hand, just stood still, seemingly trying to recall who the owner of that voice was.

In the meantime, Shin, who had opened his eyes after some time, could not help but frown deeply after finding where he was.

”Where is this place?” he mumbled after finding himself standing in the middle of the wilderness. ”A forest?”

He was expecting to be sent back to the Forgotten Temple. After all, he was from that place, so it was only normal to be sent back to that place as well.

Who would have thought that it was far from what he was expecting?

Fortunately, the map was working in this place, giving him the idea where he was.

”Eh!? An unexplored map?” mumbled Shin after seeing that he was currently in a place that he had never visited before.

His map was somewhat blank, so he had to download the map from the main website of the game to unlock the most basic outline of it.

While he was downloading, he could not help but pause, especially after seeing the map name at the top-right corner of his virtual map in the game. ”Wait! Lesser Kingdom of Juron!? Is this the remote kingdom where Diablo and Alucard were currently fighting against those members of the Demonic Church!?”

It turned out that he was sent to such a place after leaving the Secret Land of the Fallen Immortal Empire.

He then swiftly went to look for more clues, trying to find where exactly he was.

It did not take that long for him to pinpoint his exact location, finding himself at the outskirts of one of the regions around the Oath City.

”Glacial Cave?” he frowned when he looked at the information on the map before looking around.

”How come it is named as ʼGlacial Caveʼ when this place is supposed to have a rain forest setting?” he mumbled in confusion.

He was clearly within the depths of a great forest, so he was quite confused when he saw the name of the region.

He walked around for quite a while until he finally found the reason why the map was named as such.

”I see! So that is the case,” he mumbled before looking at the sight before him.

In the distance, which was also right in the middle of the forest, Shin saw huge glaciers in the middle of the dense trees.

Such a scene was indeed strange, especially when he could feel that this place was supposed to have a somewhat humid air despite the number of trees filling the area.

The multiple contrasts presented before Shin made his head a little ached, especially when he saw some icicles and ice spikes sticking out from the bodies of the huge trees in the distance, which were also creating branches made of ice.

Shin walked around for quite a while, trying to investigate the place and looking for more reasons why it was named as such.

”If it is called a ʼcaveʼ, then this place is most likely within a cave or something,” he mumbled before raising his head and looking at the ʼskyʼ above him.

No matter how he looked at it, the sky seemed to be normal. There was even a sun hanging right above, lighting the entire place and bathing all the trees with its sunlight.

Shin was unable to find any tricks in the surroundings that could lead him to think that his earlier suspicions were right.

All he could do was walk around, trying to find more clues, while also trying to look online.

He found that this place was quite far from the Oath City itself, somewhat remote from the main hub, where most of the players regularly gathered.

This place was also devoid of monsters or any materials that could make the players come here.

In their eyes, this place was nothing but a fancy tourist destination where they could relax. Unfortunately, it was still quite far from the city, discouraging most of the players from coming here.

They would rather go to the places where they could grind their levels rather than waste their time wasting here.

After all, the Lesser Kingdom of Juron was already quite remote, so most of the players here would focus more on hunting and grinding so that they could catch up to the mainstream players from the other kingdoms and empires.

After walking for quite a while, Shin finally stumbled upon a place that was quite unusual when compared to the other sights that they had found.

”This-…” he halted his tracks while looking at what was before him before mumbling. ”-… isnʼt this a Portal? A sealed dimensional portal at that!”
