Child of Destiny

Chapter 2211: Echoes of the Ocean Legend (Part 6)

...

ROAR!

Right after repelling the ice golems, Shin was suddenly subjected to a three-pronged attack coming from different directions.

The one wielding the trident waved its weapon, conjuring a massive ice dragon behind it, which then rushed toward Shin.

The one with the sword, on the other hand, transformed into an ice mist that charged forward, seemingly trying to freeze anything on its path before shredding them into shreds.

As for the one holding the huge battle hammer, it leaped high up in the air before suddenly coming crashing down along with a destructive momentum with the weapon in its hand.

Shin did not dare to underestimate these attacks, especially when he could sense that each of them possessed a terrifying power that was further augmented by the demonic powers of his opponent.

He first twirled the [Durendal] in his left hand to generate some momentum before suddenly tossing it into the ground.

Bang!

The legendary sword stabbed into the ground, standing erect while generating a small explosion right after the point of contact.

Swoosh!

The gorgeous flames spread in every direction before forming a dome of fire that protected Shim from all directions.

The dome of fire revolved around Shin along with the dancing flames swimming through its surface, resembling a pair of blazing wings that were putting him in their embrace.

Shriek!

Along with the mighty cry of the phoenix, the blazing dome clashed against the three-pronged attack, generating a massive explosion.

BOOM!

A mixture of hot steam and cold mist immediately rose right after the collision of powers.

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

The three ice clones immediately retreated right after failing to fully strike their target down. Even the earlier attack, which was a combination of their strength, was not enough to take down this opponent, so they had to be careful in their next attempt.

Unfortunately, Shin had no intention of letting them go that easily.

Crackle! Crackle!

Amid the rising cloud, a flash of lightning suddenly appeared before flying straight to one of the ice clones.

Shing!

A streak of light left a trail of lightning arcs behind while charging straight to the sword-wielding ice clone.

The attack might be too sudden, but the ice clone swiftly responded, raising its sword to accurately block the incoming strike.

Bang!

The tip of Shinʼs sword was hitting the surface of the ice sword, preventing it from advancing further.

Shin slightly raised his brows when he saw this before swiftly twisting his wrist and quickly retracted the sword.

Swoosh!

He then swiftly threw a series of slashes with the sword, creating a series of flashes in the air, and attacked the ice clone from every direction.

Shing! Shing! Shing!

However, to Shinʼs surprise, the ice clone seemed to have seen through all his strikes despite his applying the advanced principle of the Mirage Sword in them.

Clank! Clank! Clank!

The repeated collisions generated a series of sharp sounds ringing in the air, signifying the huge number of exchanges that they had.

Shin had grown even more suspicious when he saw this, especially when he saw that the ice clone was adapting quite well to each of his moves.

Shing!

While he was still thinking about this, the other two ice clones finally caught up to them, launching yet another pincer attack.

Swoosh!

Seeing this, the sword-wielding ice clone immediately pressed forward, intending to put more pressure on Shin so that the other two ice clones could attack him more freely.

Shin pursed his lips a little before swiftly adjusting his stance, wielding both the [Yamato] and the [Durendal] in each of his hands.

A moment later, he suddenly started swinging them around.

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

Each swing of the swords generated trails of gorgeous flame or arcs of black and white lightning, which crisscrossed in the air and formed an unbreakable net around him.

Clang! Clang! Clang!

Under the protection of these gorgeous flames and violent lightning, Shin was able to block both the attacks from the sword-wielding and trident-wielding ice clones, warding off their advances.

However, the hammer-wielding ice clone, who had slightly delayed its attack, hid behind the attacks of the two.

WHOOSH!

It then charged at Shin with an unstoppable force.

The huge head of the battle hammer that it was wielding had become even larger due to the accumulated elemental mana that it gathered and had formed a huge extra layer on its surface.

The head of the battle hammer had become a huge glacier that was charging straight at Shin.

BOOM!

The other two ice clones swiftly retreated when the incoming attack from the hammer-wielding ice clone arrived.

They had successfully pinned Shin in place, so they could not retreat while preparing for the follow-up attack later.

Swoosh! Swoosh!

Shin, who was still locked in place, was unable to dodge the incoming attack, so he could only face it head-on.

Whoosh!

Twirling the [Yamato] with his right hand, he suddenly strikes forward while multiple shadows gathered within his body, creating a series of overlapping images stacked together.

His body seemed to be shifting between these stacked images while striking with his sword.

ʼPhantom Series: Sword Technique – Mirage Burstʼ

Shing!

The earlier curtain made by the gorgeous flames and arcs of lightning would be easily destroyed by the might of this giant glacier, so Shin decided to face it with this technique.

He focused all his strength on a single point while stacking his strikes by applying the principle of this technique that pounded his target repeatedly.

BOOM!

Right after the two sides clashed against each other, the result was not as strong as the earlier explosions, but the giant glacier crumbled into pieces right after the opposing forces met.

However, when the pieces of this glacier fell, it revealed the huge hammer head hiding within and showed it clashing against the tip of Shinʼs sword.

The two sides remained suspended in the air for quite a while before pushing each other away.

She then glanced at Leviathan, who was trying to manipulate the battle with his ice clones, and thought. ”Should I try to take down that guy first?”

However, it only took him an instant to decide to be a bit more cautious. After all, he could sense that there was something wrong within the area surrounding Leviathan.

He was not sure what exactly it was, but he could at least tell that there was some trap laid in there.

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

Bang!

Clang! Clang!

He continued to exchange blows against the three clones while trying to find a way to break through them and launch a successful ambush later.

Unfortunately, he could sense that the three ice clones were slowly growing stronger as time went back, seemingly gathering more demonic energy the more they clashed against him.

Shin could tell that they were trying to buy as much time as possible while gathering this overwhelming power.

”Are you trying to create a bomb that I will not be able to escape from?” thought Shin, recalling how the opposing side usually fought in his battles.

Leviathan loved to use a bunch of puppets to fight for him while taking the initiative to detonate them once the situation called for it.

It was the most convenient way to deal with such situations, which was also something Shin found quite troublesome.

It was still found if it was fighting against an army of puppets and golems by itself, but being mindful of the time when they detonated was indeed quite annoying.

”The stats of these guys are also quite an issue,” he mumbled with a slight frown.

After multiple exchanges, he started to feel some tension in his arms, which was caused by the repeated collisions against the three clones, particularly the hammer-wielding one.

”Dealing with the members of the Pandemonium Troupe is still as troublesome as ever,” he commented after forcing the three clones away.

Regardless, he still kept his calm and composed disposition, indicating that he was truly not under that much pressure.

He even looked quite relaxed despite the complaints that he kept mumbling.

…

In the meantime, the four commander-level sweepers were unable to join the battle and could only watch from afar.

They knew that this level of battle was not something that they could get involved with. They would only become a burden rather than helping Leviathan.

”What do you think we have to do now?” asked Morroc after realizing their current situation.

Maya thought for a moment before answering. ”Since we are useless here, we can only deal with the other issue that we have at hand.”

”You mean dealing with those two?” asked another while turning their gaze toward the location of the sealed portal.

”The twin? I think Maya is right. Letʼs head there and buy as much time as possible,” said the fourth one while nodding his head repeatedly. ”We canʼt let them open the portal without it being contaminated by the demonic origin.”

”Alright,” Maya nodded after seeing that everyone had agreed to the same conclusion.

They were about to leave when they suddenly noticed that a pair of individuals was walking out of the shade of the trees, not too far from them.

”Ah! It looks like we do not have to look for them,” said Morroc before grinning evilly. ”They have presented themselves to our doorstep.”
