Child of Destiny

Chapter 2209: Echoes of the Ocean Legend (Part 4)

...

Leviathan led his people within the depths of the Glacial Cave, rushing straight at the location of the sealed portal.

Right after they stepped into the map, the ominous feeling that he had had since earlier became much stronger. He was unable to shake this feeling off, which had become much stronger instead.

This made him want to finish this operation as soon as possible.

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

Even though the scouts had repeatedly reassured him that they had not seen anyone up until now, Leviathan still refused to believe that everything was as safe as these guys had assured him.

He had a feeling that this was not going to be as easy as they had assumed. He needed to move as fast as he could before the situation could turn uglier.

Whoosh!

While they were rushing to the location of the sealed portal, Leviathan suddenly felt that the ominous feeling that he was having had suddenly become much stronger, making him to forcefully halt his tracks.

Seeing his actions, the others immediately followed, stopping their on their tracks and looking at him confusedly.

They were about to ask him what was wrong when Leviathanʼs danger senses started ringing and warning him about the impending danger.

”Watch out!” he shouted while retreating as fast as he could.

The others were still confused when a series of sword flashes came out of nowhere and started butchering them.

Shing! Shing! Shing!

Aside from Leviathan, who had sensed the ambush the earliest, and the four commander-level sweepers, who were the fastest to react and barely survived the barrage of attacks, everyone else was killed in the process.

The remaining sweepers that Leviathan had brought to this place were only around a few dozen people, which was far from the hundreds of demonic players that they had initially brought when accepting this mission.

Now that they had been annihilated by this sudden ambush, Leviathan no longer had that many subordinates that he could use.

Wearing a heavy expression on his face, Leviathan watched as his subordinates dined one after another under the lights of the sword flashes dominating the place before them.

This ambush was so ruthless that none of the sweepers survived.

Click!

Not long after, the slaughter stopped along with the subtle sound of the sword returning to its sheath.

Raising his head, Leviathan turned in the direction from which the attack came and saw the familiar figure that kept getting in the way of their organization.

”Battle God Sickarius. You are truly here,” he mumbled with an extremely grim tone while glaring at the opposing party.

Shin walked out from the shade of the trees in a somewhat laid-back manner.

”Tsk! Tsk! You guys sure have taken your sweet time to get here. I almost died of boredom waiting for you for ages,” he said while rubbing the back of his neck with his right hand.

Leviathan glared at Shin fiercely but did not take any action. He suppressed his rage and observed the latter for quite a while.

Seeing the current Shin, Leviathan could not help but feel immense pressure coming from the opposing party. He could feel that the current Shin was much different compared to the time they first clashed against each other.

”He is much stronger than before,” Leviathan could feel that the pressure coming from Shin was gradually getting stronger, making him recall the current state of the Great Leader of the Pandemonium Descendants.

”He is almost as strong as Lucifer now,” he mumbled while comparing Shinʼs current aura to their leader. ”His speed of growth is the same as the leader, who possessed ʼthatʼ mysterious power.”

Lucifer was an absolute enigma within the organization. He sometimes felt like a different person on multiple occasions, making them believe that there might be multiple ʼLucifersʼ to begin with.

However, they had never found proof for this, which made them think that they might be wrong, especially when Lucifer grew immensely powerful whenever his personality changed.

Glaring at Shin sharply, Leviathan knew that he could not afford to hold anything back. He would most likely be forced to use both his True Demonic Transformation and Demon King Contract this time around, despite the serious drawbacks after using them together.

However, he also knew that he could not tangle with Shin for that long since his task was still to corrupt the portal somewhere here.

Unfortunately, he also knew that Shin was fully aware of his goal, which would make it harder for him to do what needed to be done.

Glancing at the four commander-level sweepers with him, Leviathan knew that he could only rely on these few to deal with this monster before them.

He might be confident in his strength, but he was not too confident about facing the current Shin, who was clearly emitting a dangerous scent on him.

Among all the members of the organization, he felt that only the special ones, such as Amon, Baal, Azazel, Baphomet, and Mephistopheles, could face the current Shin on equal footing.

Lucifer was without a question, but two people were always on his side, whom none of the Pandemonium Troupe had truly known about.

They were only aware of their existence, but they were also not sure about their strength.

Understanding their current situation, Leviathan hesitated no longer and immediately entered his strongest state, initiating his True Demonic Transformation and Demon King Contract all at once.

When it came to individual strength, Leviathan might not be as strong as Shin. However, his specialty was fighting alongside a group, which would directly enhance his strength to an unimaginable level.

Right after activating these two skills, Leviathan swiftly retreated while waving his hands. He attached invisible strings to the bodies of the four commander-level sweepers, greatly enhancing their respective stats.

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

In response to his actions, the four immediately activated their respective Demonic Transformations while also activating their intermediate demon contracts.

Roar! Roar! Roar! Roar!

The four then entered a berserk state and swiftly pounced on Shin.

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

All of them had an assassin and thief-related class, which was the most suitable class for being a Sweeper. Along with this class and their stats that were greatly enhanced by Leviathanʼs special ability, their speed reached an unimaginable level.

Swoosh! Swoosh!

Their figures turned into multiple silhouettes that dominated the space while surrounding Shin from all sides.

They did not immediately attack, understanding that their current opponent was not some random dude on the streets. They had to take this more cautiously before making their move.

While the four were surrounding Shin, Leviathan immediately summoned three clones of himself, which seemed to be under demonic transformation as well.

Two of these clones summoned a bunch of ice golems and ice puppets, while the last clone had attached its strings to Leviathan and those two clones.

It was only when they had completed the battle formation that they had initiated their attack.

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

Roar!

The ice golems and ice puppets swiftly charged at Shin, charging at him from all directions.

Shin remained calm despite being surrounded. He was quite familiar with the methods that Leviathan had, especially when they had already clashed against each other during their first encounter at the Stormy Mountain Range that bordered the Storm Empire and the Dark Cloud kingdom.

He gave the formation of his opponents a swift glance before smirking. ”Trying to use numbers against me? Foolish!”

Right after saying these words, he immediately summoned nine phantoms of himself, which swiftly scattered in different directions.

ʼPhantom Swordsman Skill (Special): Phantom Danceʼ

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

Immediately after, his true body suddenly flickered before gradually fading from sight.

Shing! Shing! Shing!

Not long after, the earlier flashes of light appeared once again, trying to annihilate everything on their path.

However, Leviathan was already expecting something like that, which was why he decisively detonated the ice puppets.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The series of explosions immediately rang throughout the battlefield while a thick fog suddenly rose and veiled everyoneʼs vision.

Leviathan was about to manipulate the surrounding fog and infuse it with his demonic powers, creating a demonic field that could prove their advantage.

Shing!

Unfortunately, something incredibly fast suddenly flew out of the fog and swiftly headed straight for his face.

Leviathan had no choice but to abandon his earlier thoughts and retreat as fast as he could.

Shing!

However, the flash of light chased after him extremely closely, forcing him to switch places with one of the nearby ice puppets.

Swoosh!

He then swiftly detonated that ice puppet without a hint of hesitation.

Bang!

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

Along with the series of movements of his hands, the surrounding ice golem charged at the center of that explosion before throwing a series of punches at that spot.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The ice golems bombarded that spot with a powerful strike, further raising the thick cloud of dust mixed with the cold fog produced by their bodies.

Regardless of this sight, Leviathan kept his grim expression, especially when he sensed that no one was actually standing at that spot.

Realizing this, he swiftly retracted his arms, recalling his army back to his side.

As for the commander-level sweepers, they continued to lurk in the dark, waiting for the right opportunity to act.

Tap! Tap!

It was at this moment that they saw a silhouette walking out of the cold fog somewhat leisurely.

Shin, who had gradually revealed himself, looked at Leviathan and said. ”I do not think that this is everything you have. Youʼd better reveal all your cards now, or you will never have the chance later.”
