Child of Destiny

Chapter 1718: The Holy Maiden and the Black Witch

...…

Within the Ruins at the center of the Plague Lands.

While Shin was fighting against Morax within the Ancient Battlefield, Cloe was currently facing a siege against the members of the Corrupted Cult stationed within the ruins.

The people that she was fighting were one of the branches within the evil organization, which longed for the experts of corrupted energy. It was a different faction that Immortal used to belong.

If the faction where Immortal belonged was meant for Corrupted Necromancers and Evil Summoners, then these guys that were chasing after Cloe belonged to the faction of Corrupted Mages and Wicked Sorceress.

At this moment, Cloe was facing a person, who was considered as the pillar of the players within the faction – just like how Immortal was in the other faction.

She was what they called a Messager of the Cult.

”It has been a while, White Witch of the Eternal Light,” greeted a woman, who seemed to be a Wicked Sorceress given the set of clothes that she was wearing.

Based on her appearance, it seemed like she belonged to the branch of Corrupted Race, which was neither an undead nor a human.

She looked like a human on the surface, but her pale skin signified that it was not that simple. Her somewhat glowing skin after reflecting the light looked more like a piece of jade rather than a skin of a person.

There were also some marks on her face, particularly on her left cheek, which signified that she belonged to a certain Clan within the Witch Race.

Her seductive body could not be hidden by the loose robes that she was wearing, making her appearance very tempting, especially after matching with her beauty.

”Oh! You are called the Gentle Goddess right now. I have almost forgotten about it,” she added as he walked calmly after seeing Cloe stop running.

Cloe only stopped because Grimrace and Blackie suddenly disappeared while they were leading her. This could only mean that something unexpected happened on Shinʼs side, forcing them to be summoned.

Even though she fully trusted Shin and his capabilities, she still could not help but feel a little worried due to the sudden disappearance of the two elements.

This caused her to be in a very bad mood, which was why she glared at the other party right after halting her steps. ”Now, I am angry.”

”Are you prepared for the consequences?” she asked as the gentle aura surrounding her suddenly changed.

”You!” the other partyʼs plump bosom was heaving up and down after hearing those words. This was exactly how she first met Cloe during a certain tournament before.

She wanted to teach the latter a lesson at that time, stating that a support and healer class such as the Priest Class could never match a combat class, particularly a mage class in terms of magic spells.

But when they were matched on the stage, she later realized that the title ʼFirst Holy Mageʼ was not just for show. She was unable to match Cloe in every aspect of a magical class during that time, much less when healing was added to the list.

She was beaten so badly that Cloe seemed to have never suffered any damage from her destructive spells due to the healing spells of the latter.

However, that stumbling block became a turning point for her, which also made her one of the greatest mages within the virtual world and earned her the title of the ʼBlack Witch of Misfortune.ʼ

With such an ominous name, it was not hard to guess what kind of reputation she had within the gaming community. She had always been one of the villainesses of every game she joined, particularly joining the side where Cloe belonged.

Given the similarities between their titles during that time, it was not hard to guess the rivalry between these two.

Right at this point, Cloe seemed to have forsaken her previous title and became the ʼGentle Goddessʼ as she focused more on being a support-type player.

Not many had any knowledge of Cloe being the ʼWhite Witch of the Eternal Lightʼ due to her mysteriousness during that time, which was why almost no one could find her.

But to those who knew about her little background, her name only became even more resounding due to this achievement.

This person before her, on the other hand, continued the reputation that she had already built and made it even more resounding with her feats.

She built up her name not as a powerful Godlike Player, but as a powerful villainess, rivaling the reputation of Immortal and Hoawin as well as the others of the same circle. This earned her the current godly title she possessed, which was related to her previous title – The Black Witch Goddess.

Boom!

An intense pressure was suddenly released from her body, which was immediately followed by a thick miasma that carried the power of corruption. This corrupted mana was also not simple as it was rapidly absorbing the Plague Energy filling the air to enhance itself.

There was also a brief appearance of a hideous monster behind her that breathed out a dense corrupted energy toward her body, seemingly giving her a series of buffs and enchantments.

Seeing that her opponent was preparing to attack, Cloe smirked as she did the same. ”You also have never changed, Melania.

Bang!

She tapped the bottom of her holy staff on the ground, which sent a strong ripple in the air that warded off the approaching corrupted mana.

Swoosh!

This was also followed by an intense light that came from her body, illuminating the entire place and purifying the plague energy in the air.

At the same time, an apparition of a Saintly Spirit appeared behind her, seemingly chanting a series of prayers that cast a series of buffs on Cloeʼs body.

Seeing the powerful collisions of powers between the two Godlike Players, the players from the Corrupted Cult, who were accompanying Melania, could not help but retreat and distance themselves away from the center of the collisions.

This was just their respective powers clashing against each other, yet the destruction that they created had already reached the level of destructive spells.

But this was just the beginning.

As longtime rivals, these two were very familiar with one another, so they did not need to probe the strength of each other and immediately attack one another with a series of combination spells or powerful destructive spells.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Melania was showcasing the battle prowess of a Wicked Sorceress of the Corrupted Cult, firing a series of dark and corrupted spells on one another. She was also taking advantage of the Witch Race, which was perfect for magic-related classes.

This greatly showed her advantages over Cloe, especially when it came to the powers of her spells that were both amplified by her racial traits.

But Cloe was not someone to be trifled with either. Even though she was normally healing support in the teams she had joined before as a solo player, her hidden side had never disappeared.

When the situation had called for it, the White Witch in her would never fail to show her prowess to her opponents and prove that she was not someone who could be provoked easily.

The combat techniques that she was showcasing this time were never the same as when she was fighting alongside Shin and the others.

This time, aside from the healing techniques and auxiliary methods, she was in full-offensive mode, where she never stopped casting her spells and utilizing the best tactics that were supposed to be meant for mages such as multi-casting, over-layering magic, combination spells, and all.

”Thatʼs right! This is what I am looking for! It has been a while since I feel this excitement!” Melania was laughing manically she exchanged more spells against her opponent, not only showcasing her excitement but how crazy she was as well.

”More! More! Show me more!” she shouted madly as she waved her hand in the air, gesturing the casting sign of her spells.

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

Multiple black magic circles appeared behind her. Each circle represented a different spell, signifying how powerful she was to silent-cast multiple spells at once. Moreover, there were a few advanced spells mixed in them, which were acting as the center of the less advanced spells.

Then they later formed a huge magic formation meant for a more advanced spell.

”Try this, Arelle! This is one of my new inventions!” Melania continued as she pointed forward, releasing the power of her spell.

ʼDark Symphony: Hall of Destructionʼ

Boom!

Seeing the incoming attack, Cloe calmly teleported away to create enough distance from the incoming beam of dark energy.

She then slammed the bottom of her staff on the floor, sending an intense ripple in every direction.

Bang!

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

At the same time, an array of golden magic circles appeared behind her, forming an even larger magic circle filled with complex patterns composed of mysterious holy runes.

Each magic circle linked with one another and formed a more complex one compared to the previous appearance that they had.

Within an instant, the entire spell was automatically activated and suddenly fired a golden beam of light that transformed into a giant holy spear.

It flew straight to the incoming spell that her opponent had sent earlier, seemingly trying to pierce through it.

ʼClass Fighting Style: (Enhanced) Spear of Judgementʼ
