Child of Destiny

Chapter 1714: Morax, the Wise and Cunning (Part 2)

...

Shin skimmed through the rules and conditions presented by the System, making sure that there was nothing wrong with it and no traps hidden behind those words, before signing it.

Right after signing the system contract, Morax suddenly spoke. ”Now that you have already signed it, letʼs change location as this place is not suitable for us.”

Shin was confused at first when he heard those words, but he later saw Morax slamming the bottom of his stone spear on the floor of the corridor, sending a series of overlapping ripples in every direction.

He then sensed the unusual fluctuation of mana filling the air as if they were being manipulated by something. It then later escalated into morphing into space while pulling Shin and Morax into its center.

Shin was taken aback by the sudden development, making him raise his guard to the highest level. At the same time, he was also ”A teleportation skill? A summoning skill? No, it also has some features of a domain skill. What is this?”

He was analyzing what was happening with the help of his True Sight Skill and realized that this was not just a simple skill activation.

”Brat!”

”My Liege!”

”Hey! Where are you going!?”

The three elemental spirits that were currently summoned could sense that Shin was forcefully being pulled by something, seemingly dragging him into another dimension.

Due to the restriction on their current abilities, they were unable to fight back. They could only let themselves turn into specks of light that appeared beside Shin, signifying that they had exceeded the maximum range that they could have away from him.

Seeing them being forcefully summoned, Shin could not help but squint his eyes. He could sense that this forceful transportation did not mean any harm and only sent him to another dimension.

He was quite familiar with this sensation, which he had already experienced on multiple occasions. He remained calm and waited for him to arrive at the destination, but he also could not help but be a little worried about Cloe as Blackie and Grimrace were suddenly summoned to his side.

”I hope that she will be fine,” he mumbled.

Swoosh!

Not long after, he found himself falling upside down from the air as the suction force that had pulled him earlier had finally disappeared.

Bang!

Adjusting his position in the air, he did a series of aerial maneuvers before letting himself gently and skillfully land on the ground.

He quickly put his guard up right after his foot touched the ground, sweeping his gaze at the surroundings with his sharp eyes.

He later found that he was currently standing in the middle of a barren land that was filled with nothing but blackened rock formations and stone mountains.

The place reminded him of that particular mountain forest filled with similar rock formations, where he had found those three monster bosses of monkey specials and said to be the descendants of the Great Stone Ape.

The only difference was the form of mana filling the air. The stone mountain forest that he had visited before was rich with Earth Elemental Mana while this place was filled with corrupted and demonic energy that contaminated the earth and the rest of the environment.

Looking at the towering stone mountains in the distance that resembled a group of giant stone spears embedded in the ground, Shin could tell that this was not a simple place.

”He has summoned me into an Ancient Battlefield? It is oddly similar to what that Justin guy has used to be before,” he mumbled as he scanned the surroundings with his eyes.

”But their methods are a little different. Justin used a special medium and got around a series of conditions to summon me there, but this guy just summoned me into this place with no different from snapping his fingers.”

While he was having an internal monologue, the system had finally introduced which Ancient Battlefield he was in.

*Ding*

System: You have been summoned into the Ancient Battlefield – Demonic Stone Forest.

System: All abilities related to darkness and earth will be amplified by a large margin when you are in this place.

*Ding*

System: The master of this Ancient Battlefield has restricted the amplified buffs – you will only be able to use half of the bonus effects.

…

Raising his brows, Shin could not help but curse Morax a little. ”Tsk! Stingy.”

At the same time, he also heard Hanzo telling him how they were forcefully summoned into this place. [Brat, you must be careful of this guy. He seems to have taken advantage of the unique environment of the ruin and fused it with multiple domain skills under his arsenal to summon this Ancient Battlefield.]

[He has also used the powers of his Demon Contract on top of everything, which is why he has absolute authority over this place.]

[This Ancient Battlefield is no different from an advanced domain skill that only Enlightened Beings can use, albeit this one is a knockoff version of it.]

Not long after, Solus added. [My Liege, the regular Domain Skills that you and others use are only limited to amplifying your physical capabilities such as speed, physical strength, and raw power – or in reverse, weakening your opponents.]

[In some special cases, some domain skills can strengthen your other abilities like your elemental abilities, martial prowess, and swordsmanship attainments.]

[But all these versions of domain skills will contract and become one once the caster has achieved full enlightenment and reached the stage of an Enlightened Being.]

[All these unique amplifications and boosts that an individual domain skill can provide you will focus on a single point and transform it into a True Domain.]

She paused for a moment before continuing. [This ability of your current opponent is planning to achieve that result. It may still be far from achieving their desired outcome, but the ability itself is still far stronger than any domain skills that the liege has – aside from that Tier 3 Domain Skill that you have yet to use, my liege.]

[But even that skill is still slightly weaker compared to this one,] she added.

Shin raised his brows a little as tried to digest what the two veteran elementals had said before pursing his lips. ”It is still better than being powerless against it. I first think that we are doomed because he has some authority over it, but I guess he still canʼt fully control such a powerful ability.”

He still had fallen into the trap the other party had prepared for him, but it was still far better than he had expected. It was far from being in a hopeless situation.

”But still-… I seem to be unable to hide my abilities in this place. I guess I am still forced to show everything I have in the end,” Even if he tried to above such a scenario, it seemed like he still had fallen into such an obvious trap in the end.

”Dealing with this guy is indeed tricky,” he mumbled as he raised his head, looking at the person, who was standing in the air for quite a while.

”You have such a fancy skill. I guess this cost you quite a lot,” said Shin as he stared at Morax, who was standing in the air somewhat haughtily.

”It is nothing,” replied Morax somewhat nonchalantly before adding. ”It is just a simple trick that I have picked up after the failure of a certain guy who has tried to join us but has gotten plotted by everyone.”

”So, he is the experimental subject,” said Shin as he could tell who the other party was talking about. After all, only one name popped out in his head. ʼTsk! Such a poor and miserable guy. I also heard that Big Sister has demanded his family to hand him over due to that incident of attempting to abduct Cloe as well as the assassination attempt for my life.ʼ

Setting that brief thought aside, Shin focused on the main issue, which was the unique ability that Morax had shown him. If he was not wrong, then it would become a unique ability exclusive to the Pandemonium Troupe.

”Using such a powerful skill that is supposed to be for Tier 4 and above classes, these guys are going to be even more troublesome,” he mumbled to himself as he could tell that this was going to be a headache in the future.

”Letʼs save the chatter for later. I want to finish this as soon as possible so that I can return earlier,” said Morax after observing Shin for a while. ʼHe has never lowered his guard even for an instant. He is indeed not easy to deal with.ʼ

After that, he suddenly paused his right hand behind him while holding his stone spear vertically. At the same time, his left hand rose in the air and pointed toward the blackened sky.

”Since I am the one who proposed the deal, then let me take the initiative,” he added as a bunch of giant stone spears manifested behind him, forming an array while pointing toward Shin.

”Let me have the first move.”

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

ʼDemonic Stone God Skill (Peak Tier 2): (Modified) Rain of Destructionʼ
