Child of Destiny

Chapter 356: Sleeping Ghost and Gun-Fu

...…

While watching the match, Owen suddenly turned his head at Shinʼs direction and asked. ”What do you think about this match, brother? Who do you think will be your next opponent in the semifinals?”

Shin didnʼt even think twice before giving his reply. ”It is pointless to tell anything about it for now. We need to see the outcome of this fight first before we can even make a decision for that.”

Owen raised one of his eyebrows before saying. ”Not a fan of this stuff. Then let me revise the question. Who do you want to fight between these two kings?”

Hearing that, Shin started smiling bitter while replying. ”I canʼt be sure about that yet. Roger might be the one who was currently dictating the flow of this fight, but we canʼt still be sure about it later.”

”Especially since Sairen still hasnʼt shown his real capabilities yet. We should wait for a little more to see how are things going to develop.”

After that, Shin continued to observe the battle with squinting eyes; he was really anticipating how the King of Swords of the «Nemesis Online» was going to break through his current predicament.

Seeing that, Owen just shrugged his shoulders before shaking his head bitterly. ʼSuch as serious person.ʼ

After that, he turned his head back to the fight, planning how this fight between the kings would unfold. And of course, he didnʼt forget to take a quick look at Joyce before doing so.

...

Going back in the battle arena, Roger was completely in control of this fight. From the very start of the match was the one that was dictating the flow of the fight. But even if that was the case, he still refused to lower his guard even for a little.

Even if he was the one who was controlling the rhythm of the battle, he still couldnʼt feel being safe. Especially that he was aware that this rival of his was still not using his signature style of fighting. And Sairen didnʼt disappoint him. It was because on the very instant, this guy with the title of ʼSilent Bladeʼ finally decided to introduce himself to the crowd.

After managing to find some breathing space, Sairen immediately tightened his grip on both of his swords while taking a deep. And as he was exhaling, he was also relaxing his grip on the swordʼs hilt while lowering both of his swords at the same time.

When the audience saw that, they couldnʼt help but become shocked. Lowering down your guards while fighting against someone with a precise and godly aiming. That was definitely a suicide action.

But even if that was what the majority of the spectators were thinking, the players who really knew Sairen had a different opinion. – ”Here it comes!” –

It was the same for Roger as he suddenly felt a sudden change of atmosphere surrounding his opponent. ”It is coming.”

Having a very calm mind and relaxed muscles, Sairen felt that his body was currently floating in the air. At the same time, his senses could also feel his surroundings more clearly.

Given that, his seemingly drowsy eyes looked at his opponentʼs direction and locked his gaze on it. At the same time, he also started walking forward disregarding the flying magic bullets coming his way.

The audience couldnʼt help but gasp after seeing his actions. But before they could think that this was the end, something unbelievable happened.

Swoosh!

Swoosh!

All of the bullets flying at Sairen to take him down suddenly passed through his body as if he was some sort of a ghost. Not even a skill imbued bullet couldnʼt touch his body.

Uproar!

The crowd of audience couldnʼt help but burst in uproar after seeing that. Such crazy movements were very hard to believe.

...

”There you go! The movement technique that defines the ʼSilent Bladeʼ; the ʼSleeping Ghostʼ,” said Owen while watching the fight.

”This movement technique is indeed mysterious and hard to understand. I wonder how the ʼUnrivaled Sniperʼ is going to deal with this,” said by Joyce after seeing that the distance between the two kings started to shrunk once again.

Hearing that, Owen couldnʼt help but look at Shin and asked. ”What do you think, brother swordsman? You are also someone who specialized on movement techniques, how is this technique looks to you?”

Joyce couldnʼt help but turn her head at Shin the moment she heard that. She also watched most of his fights; and due to that, she was also aware that Shin indeed had some good movement techniques. In fact, she could tell that Shin had used at least 3 movement techniques from the previous fights that she saw.

Shin didnʼt reply to him immediately as he seemed to be observing Sairenʼs movement technique. And after more moments of observation, he finally said. ”Such an interesting footwork.”

”Moving his feet in rapid but short movements, huh? This is indeed a good movement technique. But taking short steps while moving, someone could really make a lot of variations on their movements since they can easily shift their center of gravity this way which makes it easier for them to change their direction.”

”At the same time, they can even confuse their opponents while doing those complex short movements. But regardless of how amazing its effects are, executing such a skill is pretty hard since it put a lot of stains on the userʼs legs.”

Owen was somewhat surprised at Shinʼs detailed analysis which made him unconsciously ask. ”You already read how that movement technique works in just a single look? From what I can remember, this is Sairenʼs first time using this technique in this tournament.”

Shin smiled bitterly before replying at him. ”It is not like that. I am only able to read his movements because I have a similar technique as his,” while pointing to the battle arena.

Owen thought for a moment before nodding his head. Then he turned his head back to the battle arena before saying. ”But that so-called stains on oneʼs legs is not going to apply inside the game, so using this technique in-game is going to be a real ace.”

”Well, yeah. But it will consume a lot of concentration,” said Joyce.

Owen nodded his head after hearing that, but he immediately added. ”But that guy over there is known for having a strong willpower.”

Then he paused for a moment to give Shin a sidelong glaze before adding. ”Just like someone that I know.”

Shin just shrugged his shoulder before continuing to focus on the match.

...

The battle between the two kings was becoming more and more intense as the time went by. But this time, the one that was having the pressure was Roger.

Due to the rapid short movements that Sairen was doing, Roger was getting a hard time locking his aim at his opponent. And because of this very reason, he was forced to keep moving backwards while throwing some shots at Sairen. Unfortunately, the distance between these two started to shrunk in a very fast manner.

Seeing that kiting was not going to work anymore, Roger finally decided to change his strategy. He stopped firing at Sarien and patiently waited for his opponent to come at him. And when the latter saw that, he immediately welcomed such a very good opportunity.

When Sairen reached the three-meter mark, the average players among the spectators thought that this was going to be the end of the fight. How could a Gunslinger fight a Dual Blade in such distance?

But the veteran players were thinking differently. Because for them, this was just the start of the real battle.

Right after Sairen reached this optimal distance, Roger immediately raised his magic pistols once again before firing consecutive shots with them.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

That kind of close distance shot was going to be pretty hard for anyone to dodge. Fortunately, Sairen was fast enough to use his ʼSleeping Ghostʼ movement technique to change his direction and move to the side.

After having an ideal angle to attack, Sairen quickly took a forward step while throwing a cross slash at his opponent.

Swoosh! Swoosh!

Unfortunately, they didnʼt manage to find their targets because Roger was already hopping away during that time. But he didnʼt distance himself too much as he maintained the three-meter distance between them. And right after taking his position, he resumed firing some shots at his opponent.

Bang! Bang!

Sairen quickly swung his swords to deflect the magic bullets coming his way before chasing after Roger once again. And with that, the ʼmeleeʼ battle between a Gunslinger and Dual Blader had finally started.

The audiences that only saw this battle style for the first time couldnʼt believe what they were seeing. For a Gunslinger to fight a Dual Blader in that kind of close distance battle was already crazy, but blocking and deflecting bullets that were fired with the same distance? That was insanity!

The veteran players who were watching this fight became even more hype after seeing that kind of exchange. – ”So, this is how the famous Gun-Fu looks like!”–

And just like that, the real battle between the Kings of Swords and Guns had finally started.
