Endless Winter: My Camp Upgrades Infinitely

Chapter 1668: Chapter 527: Mist Concealed Thunder Blade Luo Yuan, Qin Feng Spits Blood

Two hours ago, north of East Valley City.

Fu Tiandu held up the military banner, walking at the forefront of the Tiger Leopard Army, frowning as he looked at the faint firelights barely visible in the distance ahead.

As the 50,000 troops of Wuchuan truly marched out of East Valley City, Marshal Luo Yuan also ordered the deployment of 40,000 Xia Army.

The 40,000 Xia Army was divided into two divisions, circling east and west of East Valley City to the northern gate area, then directly following behind the Wuchuan Army.

At present, the distance between them and the Wuchuan Army was less than two kilometers, and the sparse firelight barely visible ahead was the marching torches of the Wuchuan Army.

Though Ice Abyss is covered by snow and ice year-round, providing high visibility at night, caution was essential with tens of thousands of soldiers on the move; lighting torches to illuminate the path was naturally more prudent.

Not only in Wuchuan, but also during the march of the Great Xia, a team of 20 was at least equipped with 4 torches for lighting, so while trailing behind, the Wuchuan Army was surely aware of their presence.

The reason Fu Tiandu frowned was his belief that such an approach was too reckless; the Xia Army was following so closely behind, less than two kilometers apart, Qin Feng could not be oblivious to the Great Xia’s intentions.

If so, they would not be foolish enough to let you follow, daring to leave the city means Wuchuan certainly has countermeasures.

Did the Marshal not consider this, or is he too confident in the Xia Army’s strength?

Fu Tiandu thought so, but others in the Tiger Leopard Army felt differently.

“Are we really just trailing behind? The Wuchuan Army is two kilometers away from the city, and the total distance from East Valley to Wuchuan Town is over twenty kilometers, surely, we won’t follow them all the way to Wuchuan Town before engaging?”

“The Left Army sure is lucky! Just waiting around and military merit comes to them!”

“After all, it’s the Minister himself leading the troops, can they be the same as us?”

……

Deputy Banner Holder Meng Tian and several Colonels were complaining, many soldiers from the front ranks of the Reconnaissance Camp had unsatisfied expressions.

“Stop the chatter, with less than two kilometers between us, who knows what accidents might happen, stay cautious!”

Scout Camp Colonel Helian Ba was calmer than others, even as he chastised, his gaze never stopped surveying his surroundings.

The crowd ceased their talking immediately upon being scolded.

Fu Tiandu also suppressed his confusion; regardless, he was now just a Flag Commander, holding a rank lower than the Colonels in the army, he had no say over Marshal Luo Yuan’s intentions.

The central army totaled 40,000, with east and west divisions each comprising 20,000, all now circled and regrouped north of East Valley City, continuing to tail the Wuchuan Army.

Under normal circumstances, any camp or city would be built in relatively flat areas, and East Valley City was no exception.

Due to the flat surrounding terrain, the marching formation of the 40,000 Xia Army, was as wide as a hundred meters, following the Great Xia structure: a squad of 20, a camp of 200, a numbered army of 2,000, the units marched organized by army structure.

Unexpectedly, unlike before, upon merging northward, leading the front line was not the central four numbered armies, but the 20,000 Defensive Army that Deputy Commander Murong Chui transferred from Muyin Town.

Following them was the Right Route Army’s Xiang Fuhai Division of 10,000; trailing in the rear were the elite Tiger Leopard, Divine Martial, Steel Mane, and Golden Eagle numbered armies.

“This marching arrangement is likely to guard against the over 40,000 Earth-digging Realm troops within East Valley City; Marshal Luo surely anticipated Qin Feng’s lure, so the Marshal must have other plans, not merely trailing behind the Wuchuan Army…”

Fu Tiandu immediately grasped the key from this unusual marching sequence, his eyes slightly brightened.

“Is it fogging up?”

However, just as he comprehended this, a soldier’s voice sounded from the flank of the team.

It was fogging up!

Fu Tiandu turned to look around, discovering indeed more moisture in the air, even droplets forming on his armor, his expression initially stunned, but quickly returning to normal.

In an extreme cold environment like the Ice Abyss, fog is actually uncommon, as it’s frozen over year-round, with little temperature fluctuation to produce mist.

Typically, there are two common sources of fog: near water bodies and surrounding human settlements.

The former is due to running water beneath the ice, the latter from high-temperature environments from human activity.

They were currently near East Valley City, just two hours before dawn, with temperatures rapidly dropping, fog formation was not unexpected.

However, after moving forward another hundred meters with the troops, finding the fog not shrinking but growing thicker, Fu Tiandu’s expression gradually changed.

“This fog is unusual!”

“All Tiger Leopard, Divine Martial, Steel Mane, Golden Eagle Armies, and the 10,000 troops of Xiang Fuhai Division heed the order, immediately turn to attack East Valley City, capture the city within half an hour, hurry!”

Hearing the voice from above the lineup, Fu Tiandu’s expression suddenly lifted, followed by a sudden realization, amazement filling his pupils.

“So that’s it, so that’s it!”

………

“This fog is not right!”

As this thought arose in Fu Tiandu’s mind, almost simultaneously, gazing back at the Xia Army from above the Wuchuan Army’s lineup, Qin Feng’s expression changed sharply with the same conclusion.
