Endless Winter: My Camp Upgrades Infinitely

Chapter 1664: Chapter 525: Can’t Start a Fight, Eager for Battle (3)

Seeing the disappointment on the faces of the Generals and Officers, Helian Ba spoke with a stern tone to remind them: “Since the Commander has already made a decision, we can only comply. At present, avoiding battle is indeed the best choice. When the army moves later, you must restrain the soldiers below you, and don’t cause any disturbances. Inform them that those who do not follow military orders and act without permission will be dealt with by military law with no leniency!”

“Your subordinates obey!”

Although the Generals were very resistant to avoiding battle, they were also clear about the priorities. Disobeying military orders is a serious crime even during peacetime, let alone at this critical moment.

So they quickly bowed and responded, then went down to instruct their subordinates.

Watching the people leave, Helian Ba sighed slightly.

Fu Tiandu was the Flag Captain, and his subordinates were only Meng Tian and the other four, so he didn’t need to go down like other Colonels to notify others. Hearing Helian Ba sigh beside him, his mind moved slightly, and he asked:

“Captain Helian, the loud argument in the main tent just now was about discussing whether to engage in battle with the Wuchuan army, right?”

The tower he was just in was located directly above the main tent. Although it was hard to hear clearly because it was too high, he could still hear a bit of the argument within the tent.

Helian Ba didn’t conceal anything and nodded with a bitter smile: “There’s nothing to be done. It’s hard to have a war, who wants to avoid battle? I don’t want to either. Commander Xiang and Vice Marshal Murong, including the four Commanders, all think we should take the initiative to attack, and they don’t agree with Marshal Luo’s idea of avoiding battle, but Marshal Luo insists, so everyone can only comply.”

The disagreement between commanders…

Upon hearing this, Fu Tiandu’s face stiffened slightly, and the four words sprang to mind, his heart immediately skipped a beat.

Lord Luo’s central army originally only had eight thousand men, under the command of Tiger Leopard, Divine Martial, Steel Mane, and Golden Eagle, the four Numbered Armies. Central Vice Marshal Murong Chui transferred twenty-two thousand Defensive Army soldiers from Muyin Town. Later, Yuwen Sizheng let Jinyang governor Xiang Fuhai bring ten thousand troops over to reinforce, so there was a total of forty thousand troops.

According to Helian Ba, just now in the main tent, Vice Marshal Murong Chui, Jinyang Governor Xiang Fuhai, and the four Commanders Helian Shan, Hong Tian, Zhao Hu, and Zhao Bao, the six most important leaders in the army, all disagreed with the Commander’s idea of avoiding battle.

Not only these six people, other leaders certainly disagree with avoiding battle. As for Fu Tiandu’s own thoughts, he also disagrees. Even knowing that avoiding battle is the better choice now, he still opposes it.

If there’s no fight, how do they achieve military merit?

If they let the Wuchuan army approach Wuchuan Town, then they can attack from the front and back with the twenty thousand elite Left Army, the chances of winning are certainly greater. But on the other hand, wouldn’t the military merit be taken away by the two hundred-thousand elite of the Left Army?

He just heard that the twenty thousand sent by the Left Army to surround Wuchuan Town, they are all Numbered Armies, along with the Dragon Forbidden Captain. How can their forty thousand compete for military merits?

Everyone’s thoughts are similar in this situation. Now, the forty thousand central army, from top to bottom, all want to fight. Luo Yuan is directly going against the thoughts of the entire army. This is not a good thing…

Fu Tiandu looked up at Helian Ba and asked in a low voice: “Captain Helian, Lord Luo made such a direct decision, are others dissatisfied?”

Helian Ba shook his head: “Of course they’re dissatisfied, but Vice Director Xu, who came from Beishuo City to report, also supports his idea. Lord Xu came with the Lord’s order, who dares to oppose?”

Upon hearing this, Fu Tiandu immediately closed his mouth.

No wonder!

Having stayed in Great Xia for three years, Fu Tiandu is very clear about Lord Xia Hong’s status in the minds of the Xia people. If avoiding battle is Xia Hong’s order, then there will certainly be no voices of opposition in the army.

In this way, Luo Yuan is not exactly forcing things against everyone. Perhaps he himself also wants to fight, but with the Lord’s order, how could he dare?
