Endless Winter: My Camp Upgrades Infinitely

Chapter 1305: Chapter 427: Purpose of the Hongmen Martial Arts Competition, Advancement of the Ancestral Ceremony Date (3)

The creation of profit values must be achieved through practical efforts. To continue climbing the ranks, the most important task is to hold the inaugural Martial Arts Competition of the Three Towns successfully. The preliminary and secondary rounds are expected to last two months, which means that the city’s population should not fluctuate greatly during this time. However, by August, when these rounds conclude, the number of people willing to remain in Hongmen will depend on us!”

Upon hearing this, everyone’s expressions turned slightly serious, and they solemnly nodded.

Hongmen is currently Great Xia’s only external port, serving as a gateway for attracting foreign populations. It’s safe to say that whether outsiders choose to further explore other aspects of Great Xia primarily depends on what they observe at Hongmen City.

Only after they develop a desire for a deeper understanding will there be subsequent decisions to join Great Xia and become part of it.

The final impression that Hongmen City presents is essentially determined by them, so Lin Kai’s words were immediately remembered by the seven people.

”The core purpose of this competition is not to select talents, but to accelerate the integration of the Three Towns and even the Nine Towns through the martial arts competition, and to attract more people to Hongmen to learn about Great Xia, eventually encouraging them to become members of Great Xia. Therefore, winning or losing doesn’t matter, but it must be fair, just, and open, ensuring everyone is convinced.”

”I will stay in the city throughout these two months. Anyone caught indulging in favoritism or fraud, regardless of the reason, will first be dismissed and then sent back to the Xia City Prison headquarters for punishment. Is that clear?”

”Understood, Sir!”

The seven immediately stood up, cupped their hands, and gave a solemn response in unison.

Since both the preliminary and secondary rounds are held in Hongmen, the judges will naturally be from their Eight Departments. Lin Kai’s strict warning at this moment was also due to concerns that these people might favor Great Xia’s young participants during the competition.

Having worked with these colleagues for so long, Lin Kai was generally familiar with their temperaments. Seeing their serious response, he knew they understood the gravity of this competition, and his expression gradually relaxed.

”By the way, Lord Yuan, I heard that this time the method for selecting participants for the preliminary round is your new idea. It’s almost dawn. Could you share it with us?”

Everyone was obviously curious and immediately turned to look at Yuan Shan.

The Hunting Bureau’s Mountain Yu Yuan Shan smiled and cupped his hands, saying: ”There are simply too many participants this time. To select them quickly, we have to eliminate a large number at once. So, I thought, why not use a timed hunting method?”

The preliminary round will last one and a half months, totaling 45 days. It will be held every night with about 2,500 participants per session. The competition involves setting off from the South City archway to the outskirts of Beining Mountain, hunting down an Intermediate Cold Beast, and bringing it back. The fastest 300 people will advance to the secondary round.”

Upon hearing the selection method for the preliminary round, Lin Kai and the others immediately brightened up.

”This selection method is novel. It’s not bad!”

”The difficulty is quite high. I’ve seen the young participants in the city these days; most of them only have Earth-digging Realm cultivation. Especially in the youth group, those at the Cold Resistance Level are very few. Isn’t it too dangerous to let them hunt Intermediate Cold Beasts?”

”If they lack strength, they must rely on their wits. The rules say they only need to bring back an Intermediate Cold Beast, without restrictions on the hunting method. This means they can team up or go solo.”

”Luck is also important. Every night there are 300 Intermediate Cold Beasts. The outskirts of Beining Mountain is a limited area, surely not enough. So the sooner they participate, the better. The later they go, the deeper they’ll need to venture into the Snow Forest, significantly increasing both the danger and the difficulty of the hunt.”

”Exactly! It’s just like the Logging Realm selection in Xia City earlier. The preliminary round tests not only strength but also brains and luck.”

”The key is that we can also collect some Cold Beasts for free. At 300 Intermediate Cold Beasts per night for 45 days, that adds up to 13,500 beasts.”

”Hahaha, it may not compare to 30 million taels of silver, but it does help to recoup some costs.”

”When the competition ends, our exploration progress of Beining Mountain will rise significantly. Wouldn’t this be killing three birds with one stone?”

”Lord Yuan, you’ve done well!”

......

Looking at Yuan Shan, Lin Kai couldn’t help but show approval. Yuan Shan’s selection method was indeed quite good, no wonder it was adopted by Li Longkai.

Every year, the martial arts competitions are supposed to involve all Eight Departments, but it’s mainly funded and organized by the Camp Supply Department, which is why in Hongmen, Li Longkai is the one who makes the final decisions on all aspects of the competition.

Lin Kai turned to Li Longkai and continued to ask: ”According to Yuan Shan’s plan, approximately 13,500 people, with over 5,000 in the youth group and over 8,000 in the adult group, will advance to the secondary round. The secondary round lasts only 15 days. What is the specific competition format?”

Li Longkai immediately cupped his hands and said: ”The secondary round won’t involve hunting. I plan to use a timed arena format for both groups, giving each participant five opportunities. The first 1,000 people to achieve five consecutive wins with the shortest time will advance to the finals. We should be able to finish the competition within 15 days.”

Upon hearing this, Lin Kai nodded. This timed arena format was adopted in the first martial arts competition of Great Xia in its second year. It’s a screening mechanism that can quickly discern strengths compared to slow one-on-one matches.

”Between the two formats, the preliminary round seems riskier?”

Li Longkai immediately cupped his hands and nodded: ”Don’t worry, Sir. I’ve already discussed it with Director Yuan and Commander Liu. During the one and a half months of preliminaries, the Cloud Jiao and Dragon Slayer armies will rotate patrolling the outskirts of Beining Mountain. Firstly, to maintain order and ensure fair competition; secondly, to intervene in extreme situations and rescue participants, preventing excessive casualties...”
