Endless Winter: My Camp Upgrades Infinitely

Chapter 421: Chapter 200: Xu An, Ten Thousand Urgent, Presenting Treasure (Part 2)

Any matter related to the hunting team is critically important.

The key is, the team members below won’t bother with these concerns; it’s up to the captain to handle these matters.

You can find others to help you, but hunting the Cold Beast is a life-and-death job; when it’s about one’s livelihood and life, who dares not to do it personally?

Now he understands why even though Great Xia’s Earth-digging Realm population is nearing 2000, there are only eighty-three hunting teams combined.

Handling these matters is not simple at all; many people even if their basic strength reaches, they fundamentally lack this capability, and even if they have, they might not have the desire.

Managing these things is indeed very annoying.

Take the Great Xia Map in his hand for instance; there are not many in the whole camp who can quietly hold it and study. He has persuaded his fourteen team members countless times, but they just don’t want to look at it and can’t really bear it.

He just spent so much time explaining Five Ape Mountain’s situation, honestly because there’s no other way; since these people don’t want to read, he could only narrate it to them.

Knowing a bit is better than knowing nothing.

“A low-level hunting team has so many things to deal with, so the sixteen intermediate hunting teams, mostly full fifty people in each team, probably dealing with team member conflicts every day is exhausting enough, and there’s even more stuff to manage when hunting outside…”

Xu An shook his head inside; the glory indeed comes at a price. In the past, when he was not a captain, he only saw how great the intermediate hunting team’s tokens looked, how impressive each member seemed, and how eye-catching the intermediate prey they brought back was. Now, thinking about it, reaching this stage is already not easy.

Though pondering in his heart, Xu An’s teachings didn’t stop for a moment. Seeing only a few listening intently while most team members bore bored expressions, clearly unable to absorb anything, he could only sigh softly:

“Take it slow…”

The Golden Sword Team has only been created for a month now; it’s still far from being promoted to intermediate level, and there’s ample time to slowly explore and grow.

“Brother’s Black Arrow Team wasn’t strong initially either, but now…”

Thinking of his brother Xu Ning, Xu An felt a touch of admiration rise in his heart, subtly encouraged himself, turned to the team members, and smiled:

“Alright, you all are probably tired of listening, so I won’t say any more; let’s search around nearby, and if there’s nothing new discovered, we’ll head back…”

Speaking thus, Xu An paused, turned and pointed north, saying: “We are about to walk out of the North Slope and soon will reach other people’s territory.”

Hearing this, everyone immediately looked north and nodded slightly.

Last half year, the area five kilometers north and south and fifteen kilometers east and west of Five Ape Mountain had long been explored completely by the Great Xia Camp.

They are now located at the edge of the North Slope, almost stepping out of Great Xia’s current boundary.

Several of them suddenly showed a hint of movement on their faces and spoke:

“Captain, those four large camps north of the mountain have a combined population of five to six thousand; why don’t we directly include them into our Great Xia?”

“I know about this; seems they themselves don’t want to join. They don’t even send people to Great Xia for a visit, allegedly because some are causing interference.”

“Lord Shi secretly investigated earlier; those four camps are weak and living poorly; their thinking is a mystery.”

“I heard from others at the camp saying there’s one Flying Tiger Camp really opposed to merging, even persuading the other three camps, which has caused these four to remain unmerged for long.”

“If you ask me, we should just take people and go up directly; they are living so miserably yet clinging to their little piece of territory. It would be better to come to our Great Xia and enjoy…”

…

“You all have been here five days, yet you seem to understand the situation better than I do!”

Xu An first joked with everyone, then seriously said: “I’ve also heard about this matter. Since those four camps don’t want to join, let’s respect their wishes. Our Great Xia never forces other camps to merge through military intimidation; whether to join or not is entirely up to them.”

Upon hearing the last sentence, everyone’s expression became more solemn.

Great Xia, no matter what, never forces other camps to merge through military intimidation; whether to join or not is entirely up to them.

This sentence was spoken personally by Minister Xia Chuan several months ago at a meeting with every Pioneer Department member in attendance.

In fact, many people don’t understand this sentence.

In their minds, with the good life in Great Xia, even if others are coerced to join, and harbor resentment towards Great Xia, once they start living well, such resentment would naturally dissipate, and they would be grateful towards those who initially coerced them.

However, out of respect and trust for Minister Xia Chuan, they still unconditionally adhere to this sentence.

Of course, Xu An is not among them.

Xu An’s vision is a bit higher than the others. He vaguely perceives the deeper meaning in Xia Chuan’s words, especially after founding the Golden Sword Team and becoming captain, starting to manage team members, he understood even more the wisdom contained in that sentence.

The management of a hunting team with a full capacity of merely twenty people is so difficult; let alone the entire Great Xia Camp.

If military intimidation were used to forcibly increase population, not only would it not benefit the Great Xia Camp, but it would also cause various hidden risks, contrary to the camp’s development.
