“Spread out, guard the stairs, hold them off for a while, just a while!”

Xia Chuan ordered the twelve Earth-digging Realm members including Yuan Cheng and Yue Feng, while he positioned himself on the west side of the stairs.

The rest quickly scattered, surrounding the more than 500 people climbing the stairs, fending off the few Cold Beasts that had already broken through the perimeter.

Keep in mind, Luo Yuan on the second floor, with over fifty Earth-digging Realm members, struggled immensely to fend off dozens of Low-level Cold Beasts.

On the first floor, Xia Chuan’s side, including himself, had only thirteen people.

Yet, three to four hundred Cold Beasts charged at them.

How could they possibly hold their ground!

A Snow Mane suddenly slammed into Xia Chuan’s chest, its long tusks piercing his right shoulder.

Xia Chuan’s vision blurred as he noticed the Snow Mane preparing to spit at him.

With a slight movement of his hands, transparent threads flew out, wrapping around the Snow Mane’s protruding tongue and pulling it aside.

Although the Snow Mane was pulled away, his right shoulder was rendered useless.

Gritting his teeth, Xia Chuan switched his large knife to his left hand and slashed horizontally at the Snow Mane’s open Blood Basin mouth.

The Snow Mane’s mouth was split open, the wound extending to the back of its head, and its body was flung three to four meters away by the force of the blow.

After slaying the Snow Mane with one strike, Xia Chuan’s expression did not relax; instead, he became even more tense.

Because the Cold Beasts had completely surrounded them.

Yuan Cheng, Yue Feng, and the other ten Earth-digging Realm members on the other side were also surrounded by Cold Beasts.

Not only was his shoulder pierced by the Snow Mane, but the others were also injured, most worse than him.

Only half of the over 500 Logging Realm people had made it up the stairs.

The people outside who hadn’t made it up yet were already helping them fight the Cold Beasts, but with mere Logging Realm strength, the damage they inflicted on the Cold Beasts was negligible, at best serving as a slight delay.

The situation was precarious, Xia Chuan raised his head and shouted angrily toward the third floor:

“Why isn’t it ready yet, where’s the fire?

The fire?

Shi Ping, what are you doing!”

Boom……

As he roared, from the wooden house’s west side, outside the valley entrance, a booming sound occurred.

Outside the western side of the valley, a gigantic pillar of fire, five or six meters in diameter, suddenly shot skyward, reaching over a hundred meters high.

At the moment the flames soared, all the Low-level Cold Beasts inside and outside the wooden house had their pupils contract sharply, and just like earlier when they glanced toward the Iron Refining Furnace, their gaze instantly turned toward the flames.

“Roar…”

On the second floor, a Demon Sheep battling Luo Yuan suddenly jerked its head, using its sharp horns to push him aside, then turned to stare at the flames outside the valley, its eyes instantly bloodshot.

Regardless of anything else, it leaped down from the wooden house, charging toward the flames.

This Demon Sheep was just a small representation; in the blink of an eye, all the Cold Beasts on the second and first floors abandoned their skirmishes with Xia Chuan, Luo Yuan, and others, rushing toward the western side of the valley where the pillar of fire was.

On the third floor, at the westernmost end, Shi Ping, still holding the unreset bowstring, looked at the flaming pillar several hundred meters away with extreme excitement in his eyes when he noticed all the Low-level Cold Beasts from inside the wooden house rushing outward.

“My lord, the lord’s plan really worked, hahahaha, the Cold Beasts are gone, the Cold Beasts are all gone!”

Taking the opportunity to loudly inform everyone in the building, Shi Ping finally let out all the emotions pent up inside him.

Since the start of the Cold Beast tide, he had always been the one responsible for the Iron Refining Furnace; whether following Xia Chuan to shoot arrows in the corridor or guarding the stairs with Luo Yuan midway through, his focus was consistently on the Iron Refining Furnace.

Earlier, proactively suggesting Xia Chuan extinguish the fire, he indeed forgot about the wooden mannequin, but more importantly, he knew that on a large tree outside the western side of the valley, there was a contingency set up by Xia Chuan in advance.

That pillar of fire over a hundred meters away, outside the western side of the valley, was a tree.

The difference was that the tree was filled with Small Torches from the system.

“Hahahahaha, good, good, good!”

On the first floor, Xia Chuan, seeing the previously fierce Cold Beasts now surging toward the west like a tidal wave, laughed heartily, repeatedly chanting “good” three times, finally relaxing the nerves that had been tense for over an hour.

Three days ago, when the large number of Cold Beasts vanished, from the moment he sensed that the Deceitful Monster at the Mirror Immortal Camp intended to use the Cold Beasts against them, Xia Chuan had already begun preparing.

Given the current strength of Great Xia, it was entirely impossible to withstand a wave of the Cold Beast tide frontally.

Stacking and thickening the perimeter with timber, reinforcing the wooden house with iron, relocating the Green Bamboo Fence inside…

relying on these was equally fanciful.

Driving away or redirecting the Cold Beast tide was the only feasible option.

Just like with the previous Rodent swarm on the northern slope rock face, strictly speaking, the method eventually used was also to drive them away, not confront them.

It just so happened that at this time, Xia Chuan noticed a tree outside the western side of the valley, with a diameter of more than five meters.

The Mirror Immortal Camp created this Cold Beast tide chiefly to force them to extinguish the Iron Refining Furnace’s flames; since that was the case, they might as well seize the opportunity to extinguish the Iron Refining Furnace’s fire and simultaneously create another fire to lure the Cold Beasts away.

Over ten thousand torches were used, nearly depleting half of the Camp Supply Station’s stock.
